Act before talk of shaming the club

1133

“I said to the players at half time that we were shaming the club at the moment and they had to go out and show some pride in the shirt”, the words of Neil Lennon to the BBC after the game on Saturday.

Pride in the shirt is a requirement any manager should ask of his team, and it is notable that the subsequent goal-scorers both have strong connections to the club, but it probably had little to do with the second half performance from Anthony Stokes, Charlie Mulgrew and our the impressive James Forrest.  Calls to pride are limited in what they can achieve, genuine talent is far more effective.

At the AGM on Friday and again in his post-match comments on Saturday, Neil alluded to the fragility of his own position.  Had the game finished 3-0 to Kilmarnock I think he would have walked away.  This would have been a great pity.

Neil is learning on the job. He was not gifted the benefits of experience without actually having to work through difficult times as a manager.  Before his thoughts turn to his own position, before our season is too far gone to save, he should recruit an experienced assistant.  Someone who knows the challenges of working with a disparate group of players, who can deal with the challenges of a demanding board and supporter base.

The need for a mentor was evident 18 months ago and is screamingly so now.  For the sake of Celtic, do the necessary.

Just back from the under 19’s what a joy to watch, both teams really went for it 100%, we have strong, skilful players all over the park and it was thoroughly entertaining, sorry I couldn’t post too many updates the game was absorbing and didnae want to miss any of it, our CH played the ball out of defence, cool and calm… The real deal, Paul George was amazing, his energy and skill will see him in the 1st team soon.

Cameras were there so perhaps it’ll be on channel 67?

To be fair, he does deserve to made an example of. But post anti-Catholic sentiments on a website- 8 months custodial sentence. Assault Neil Lennon trackside during a game- nothing to see here.

I agree how they came up with that decision… Why don’t we have jury vetting? I also worry as I said earlier tonight about who they will throw in jail next, I mean it might be people who support the PLO (Like I do) or people who hate fox and hope he chokes on his crisps or something. I mean surely it may be come a crime to hope god punishes bad people through divine intervention?

  8. Philboy – Considering your position? You should be due to the monumental red neck you should have at calling Barcabhoy a hun. Although I thank you for it, I cant remember the last time I scrolled 7 pages of CQN laughing so hard.

  9. Zyblesk that was written in 1878 and repeated in 1931, I can not understand the pathetic incoherent language used and can not see any intellectual case made by the church to renounce such a thing. I have to say I doubt the modern day pope would agree and if he did it would be enough for me to leave the church because if the church is trying to say they are incompatible it is wrong “all men are created equal” enough said socialism aims to achieve just that. I think it is more likely people of that time worried too much about people leaving the church and worshiping false gods so in affect I think that pope was wrong I don’t know what that makes me but it makes me think of “god gave man free will”. Really I don’t know where in the church traditions or scripture their is an opposition to socialism because a couple of popes tried to create it dose not make it true. You have really disgusted me, did you want to make me question my faith? I mean in that ranting it says we should respect power as it is given by divine intervention, I am sure I could find an intellectual catholic who could explain what it all means in a favourable way and how it may be referring to only the popes power not businessman’s power.

Kojo, we once had a very heated disagreement and have clashed a couple of times since. Or am I falling for another wind-up and you know this fine? The latter I suspect. I dont have time for many/most of your political stances. But I wont go over old ground.

Thanks for your message of support a few days ago, but I’m sure you’re thick skinned enough to take someone scrolling on by. As said before though you do a decent commentary on a game if I can’t access radio/TV.

Thanks, but Jimmy is due all the credit. I stood there in awe as the jungle tried to tackle him. Spaghetti was how we ended up. More or less cracked Ragers crest on Newsnight…

    —————————

When asked what would happen if they became insolvent I noticed the commentator avoided saying they could not keep on paying players. Maybe if that is not mentioned their supporters will keep turning up until players stop running out in the jerseys.

When Rangers go under, Celtic’s business policy which has meant football failure will position us to be both a business and football success.

I wonder how history will judge all the main players when that happens?

    We’ll see.

Also I hope the liars in authority will be brought to task and the ones who orchestrated the vile campaign of lies against the victims and their families are exposed in the same that News International were exposed earlier this year.
