AEK to Kilmarnock

Our Champions League victors AEK Athens are in Lisbon tonight to face Benfica in a dead rubber.  The Greeks, zero points from five games, have capitulated since August, while Benfica’s only win in their five games came in Athens.

Little changed for Celtic until the League Cup semi-final at Murrayfield in October.  Since then we have looked a different team, but those games against AEK will haunt Celtic until we are back in Champions League qualification action next year (caveat scarcely acknowledged).

Last night’s added-time winner for Aberdeen will be a huge boost for Scottish football’s perennial also-rans but any manager would surely swap dramatic wins for consistency.  Second place is not out of reach (they are currently four points short), but despite their drubbing on Saturday, Kilmarnock are worth watching.  They have Dundee, Hamilton, Motherwell and St Mirren between now and the winter break.

If Steve Clarke’s men can take 12 points from those games, which they are more than capable of, they will be comfortably in second by the break, and well-positioned for the remainder of the season.

All good wishes go to Leigh and his family today. As the sun sets, so it rises again. Celts everywhere will hope to see you back scoring goals soon.

Now, how far up the pitch can Youssouf Mulumbu play?

  3. The Celtic Park lightshow is set to return to Paradise before tomorrow night’s crucial UEFA Europa League clash against FC Salzburg (December 13).

Please allow plenty of time for your journey and get to Celtic Park early to welcome the Bhoys as they arrive on the Celtic Way at 6:15pm.

You are also invited to support the Celtic FC Foundation Christmas Appeal by buying a small LED light (priced £2) to place on the Kerrydale Clover at the front of the stadium in memory of a loved one and ‘Light up the Clover’.

  4. Heart goes out to Griff………huge challenge to go through his issues in public.

Very encouraged to hear the support and sentiments offered by Brendan.

I hear what you are saying, and the fact its popular with other ‘Ultra’s’ is probably the reason our Green Brigade came up with the notion, they do tend to copy Europe and elsewhere.

The fact that supporters of other clubs with less well reputed fans abuse the practice, doesn’t point the finger or make us worry about our fans, who have no reputation whatsoever for abusing away sides.

Anyone who has been in a dark place and managed to emerge out of it will understand how Leigh Griffiths is feeling that feeling of hopelesness and nothing brings you pleasure you feel completely on your own with no one to turn to and you feel unable to discuss your feelings with anyone. It can be a very desperate place to be so lets all get behind Sparkie and wish him well after all he is one of our own and give him time to get treatment and let him know he is in our hearts and in our prayers God Bless him and he will be in my prayers.H.H.

  9. Halliday on stv commenting on rangers fans in Austria (presumably asked what Austria can expect from the fans) his answer ‘carnage’ yes are these ppl for real! #manchester

Wow : Three hours before the game , need copious supplies of mulled wine or we’d all have hypothermia.

Additionally the city centre and local boozers would be raging.

Seriously though, I thought Liverpool could and should have been booted out after the disgraceful attacks on the Man City bus. I somehow feel UEFA would have taken more draconian action against us.

  11. If, and I stress, ‘if’, Celtic were custodially governed by, big in stature sorts of folk, who would’ve refused tickets for games vs Sevco / Rangers, when they came into the league, two 2 years ago, well, maybe this toxic issue would be in a different place right now.

But, we’re custodially governed by, Old Firm Pygmies.

Instead of ‘managing’ the toxic issue two 2 years, the Celtic PLC Old Firm Pygmies, jumped into bed with it.

And, worse, much worse,…..Celtic’s non-rebellious supporters, queued up for a slice of the toxic issue at – £49:00 per supporter¡¿¡¿¡¿¡¿

Ah mean, who’s fault is that ?

    Hmmmmmm ?

    Nurse! Nurse!

  12. Get well soon Leigh. Some of the comments from gers fans on twitter are shocking.

Still looking for 2 tickets for the game tomorrow. Would love to take my cousin who has had a really bad time this year and would mean a lot to him to get along to Paradise tomorrow.

  13. Good evening CQN

Good luck Leigh and God bless, MH issues are a terrible thing for anyone/family to deal with.

Having watched my own mother struggle with it and get sectioned when I was a young man was the worst moment of our life’s. She came through it as I hope Leigh will??

    Leigh You’ll Never Walk Alone

    D. :)

  14. I’m impressed by Brendan and the club’s actions on Leigh.

It’s not often we such compassion for a highly paid employee.

We all hope and pray Leigh can exorcise his ghosts and come back mentally and physically stronger, sharper and comfortable in his own skin.

    BBC weather Glasgow.

It going to snow Saturday. She can’t go out with those boots on.

  18. Congratulations to the flight crew on #lufthansa 2521 for expelling drunk #RangersFC fans on way to #munich. Flight is over 2 hours late thanks to the drunken assholes and their fellow supporters will miss their connection to #Vienna because of them.

  19. I was driving my wife to a pals party during the summer.

Lady called June birthday in June. And 2 sisters April and may.

I met the brother as well October.

  20. This time last year, I was in the darkest, loneliest place I had ever been in my life. I admitted to someone close that I had a problem. I eventually with professional help, saw a light at the end of my tunnel. Hope Leigh chases the light. I pray he does.

  24. Ajax 0 Bayern 1

It’s a match between a tippy tappy side and a patient one who are ahead and have had the best chances.

Any team who shows patience against these side to side tippy tappy teams will have success.

It’s pretty to watch but needs some corrections and adjustment to be potent and effective.

Bayern have intercepted a few sideways passes in middle of park and quickly countered.

But for poor finishing they would be further ahead.
