Agents talk to the media when they are not talking to Celtic

1126

One of the problems of doing your business discretely is that if and when agents or selling clubs publicise your interest in their player, media attention has a tendency to attribute too much focus on the most recent name revealed.  Teemu Pukki is a player Celtic have been trailing for some months but the fact that his agent yesterday revealed their interest is no indication that he enjoys any pre-eminence over others strikers being considered.  If anything, briefings from the agent are an indication of the opposite.

Reports yesterday that Pukki is backup in case a bid for Finnbogason fails are also wide of the mark; this is not the active path Celtic are working on.  There are (at least) two other strikers under consideration, neither of whom have directly or indirectly leaked the discussions.

Nothing sells media adverts like transfer ‘news’, which is fair enough, but news is easier to find than the actual story. This is a ‘no news’ article, the easiest of all. No panicking in the back…

  4. I remember watching Lubo and thinking he turns up in big games, because the fuel is there for his genius.

Sometimes in ordinary games he looked… Well kinda ordinary.

I think Celtic playing a few games in Europe might be the right model for us.

We have our Lubo games, where we maximize every inch of ourselves, and live or die in a fabulous maelstrom.

The fact that we come from a small league could be our advantage.

At least over the Evertons, who never suffer the maelstrom.

  5. CQN Saturday Naps

Lads, for all the mug-punters out there… the CQN Naps competition resumed last Saturday.

If you want to enter now, please send me an e-mail stating your CQN username to : fleagle29 at ymail.com

After that, the RULES are relatively simple :

    a) each Saturday log onto the last page of the previous CQN article.

    b) post only ONE ‘nap’ selection from any major Saturday horserace meeting (e.g. UK, Ireland, Dubai)

    c) if your selection is a Non-Runner, you may select an alternative – as long as it also runs on the Saturday.

    d) if your nap wins, you will “win” the hypothetical profit from a £1 stake @ Starting Prices (S.P.)

e.g. selection wins at 9/4, your hypothetical profit is +£2.25

e.g. selection wins at 5/1, your hypothetical profit is +£5.00

    e) if your nap loses or if you fail to post a selection, you will “lose” your £1 hypothetical stake (-£1)

    f) if you want to join the competition late (e.g. in Week 3) you will be allocated 2 losers, and will start the competition from (-£2)

    g) Our winner and CQN Naps Champion Tipster will be the CQN punter who shows the greatest overall profit during the season.

Last season the competition lasted for 43 weeks, and green T was the champion tipster, with +£21.35 profit

    Happy punting everyone…

    :o)

I’m quite realistic in my expectations but I’m just disappointed we are going into a season defining game without an out and out goal scorer, goals win games, pay the money, get the rewards, makes good sense to me mate.

Still be in my seat cheering on Kenny, you are correct, that man IS Celtic.

But how on earth you expect me to stay out drinking for 12 hours and then make sure you get on your train….well……ridiculous request :))

This is where BMCUW’s expertise comes in….

Legend tells it, he was once thrown on his train as it moved at 86.5mph on the west bound track by a group of hardmen George and Lion punters. As soon as his napper hit the door window, he was revived, grasped the upper framework of the carriage body while it sped up, swung back, and coolly flowed in feet first through the open window. Removed his kagool to reveal a white tuxedo, lit a Capstan, and thanked the waitress for her prompt delivery of a gin and tonic.

He then proceeded to sing YNWA out the window.

    Totally agree amigo.

I’m a big fan of Stokes…and Sammy…and KC – but we need the goal scorer, and a different type. Something to spark up the front line and keep us interested. Mibbes Balde will do it though?

Haven’t seen him play yet so can’t comment.

We definitely need someone for midfield as well imo.

Now, like an ole record, am going to repeat a story I heard, which I’ve never said here ever before more than twice.

MON employed Lenny as he was the general of the gameplay. Sat at the back, watching how tactics were deployed, where strengths and weaknesses were on both sides, then used that knowledge to dictate where to put the ball after he took it off the Juve front three.

We have an under-rated genius managing the team amigo.

I trust him, but have NO trust whatsoever in the Celtic Board. In fact, quite the opposite, but there ye go. Such trust in the manager might be misguided, or it might be the key to changing the hierarchy for the better……

Well said. Totally agree. Emotions were high imo.

Said something very similar myself a couple of weeks ago.

I think (well going by CQN and friends) we’d all like to see some of these millions being diverted from new players towards something more important.

ST was clear on that – it’s what the club is supposed to be about. In my mind, he was making the point that after spending years moaning about player spending, and gracefully accepting his role as a source of ridicule for doing so, none of it had any importance over the issues which are haunting us all now.

Emotions were high. But that doesn’t mean his emotions were any less intense than anyone else, or any of us.

Thing is as well, if you engage ST in a chat, you’ll see he’s good company and as good a Tim as any of us.

I thought the same and most CQNers only asked ST to jack it because it was bad timing.

I consider Paul67 as a friend and was surprised at his words in regard to ST, I think it was correct to bring ST back at that point though.

From what I can see, the focus should have been on Wee Oscar and ST’s focus was on the Celtic PLC board spending some additional money to help.

Nowt up with that IMO, its the same with Canamalar, the CQN shareholders who are singlemindedly CFC plc board supporters are not interested in Canamalars question to the board.

I think my Celtic friends, some o them, don’t like to rock the boat.
