Another decision day. This one likely to be real.

Lots of news is likely to come your way today, so just a brief catch up:

This is very much a false dawn for anyone hoping to rescue Rangers via a Creditors’ Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).  While Duff and Phelps can accept a deposit from a third party planning CVA, that party would then need to negotiate with HMRC, which is another story altogether.

On Friday evening Duff and Phelps gave strong indications that they would work with the Blue Knights to enable them to secure preferred bidder status today.  Although there were many obstacles in their way the key one for me appeared to be Duff and Phelps belief that Ticketus would be able to convince Craig Whyte to delivery his shares to a buyer without holding out for a substantial payment.

As you know, Craig Whyte is the only game in town and achieving this seemed remarkably ambitious.  Indications this morning suggest those ambitions have not been achieved.

We hear this morning that despite their love and loyalty to the club the Blue Knights have still not found the £500k required to before preferred bidder and that any bid submitted today is likely to remain as conditional as the ‘bids’ they submitted earlier in the process.

Our favourite, Bill Miller, has placed Duff and Phelps in an interesting position with the offer of hard cash, although his press release on Friday also contained many impossible to deliver conditions.  He will now know that the SPL and SFA will not acquiesce to his demands for a pack of Get out of Jail Free cards.

This may be enough to encourage Miller to drop out of the process but unlike the Blue Knights, who appear to seriously expect Craig Whyte to shrug his shoulders and walk away, Miller must have known his demands of the SFA and SPL were highly speculative.

If Miller submits his offer to ‘wire’ £500k into the creditors’ pot today, with or without SFA/SPL conditions, Duff and Phelps cannot allow his offer to expire without accepting it or an alternative.

Vmhan supporting Lenny and his Lions – I had to remind some of the English guys I work with about the significance of the date.

An excuse for a bevy seesion wasted

Indeed. It’s also the ZX Spectrum’s 30th birthday, in case any additional excuse was needed. :)

    And you, good yeoman,

Whose limbs were made in England, show us here

The mettle of your pasture; let us swear

    That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;

For there is none of you so mean and base,

That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,

Straining upon the start. The game’s afoot:

Follow your spirit, and upon this charge

It’s important that you go and see an approved administrator and not some of those cowboys who advertise on day time tv. Your local CAB and/or local council can point you in the right direction.

Like yourself I have one year left to go. It’s been a very challenging time but in many ways I’m happier as I don’t have the stress worrying about how I’m going to pay.

Re the loan, yout local credit union may be able to help, although I think you have to open a savings account first.

I know how you feel and it’s good to know others on here are in a similar situation. Don’t know why we get embarassed about this. I’d be more upset to be a hun……

Before I forget…. I thought Joe Ledley was excellent yesterday but was equally impressed with his post match interview and the way he talked about Watt.

He looked and sounded like a captain to me. Anyone know why Hooper was captain?

The Rangers situation angers me in my current state. I am not trying to bump anyone and the banks don’t want to know. I mean I make decent money and have not ever been unemployed. I’m a grafter and it’s a horrible situation to be in. I don’t have a lot outstanding now but am rather impatient to get it cleared.

Thanks for all the advice and comments Bhoys. I will have a study at home tonight. The season ticket will have to go along with a few other luxuries but that is life. All my own doing. I will be back!

  15. Anyhowz after Tony Watt blazed his way into Celtic folklore a wee footnote will be that it only came about because he was sent off in his last U19 game and is not available for todays Scottish Youth Cup Final.

Come on you U19 Bhoys in Green.

Also what progress has our other January signing making? I think I saw him at the celebrations at Killie but not been near the team or bench yet? Any news?

  16. As I understand it the English cross of St George flag was ripped off the 12th century Genoese flag. This was because they were the medieval badasses and nobody messed with their shipping.

If I was to guess I’d say Neil’s favourite player is Hooper – TBH I think Neil’s a bit too loyal to him, hopefully Watt (or a new forward) will give Hooper a bit more competition next season.

Southampton are lining up a fresh £7m bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper. (Sun)

Hearing that the end game may be in sight.

Told that Duff and Duffer are indicating that unless they have a bid that can work today then liquidation is all but inevitable…

I think a bid that can work would be an unconditional bid; something they’ve not had up to now…

Isn’t Hooper the top scorer in Scotland?

  27. West Wales Celt,

I’m sure they do want an unconditional bid. But that’s almost impossible unless there is an incredibly stupid multimultimillionaire out there who is really bored.

At some stage they need to remember that they have to put the creditors first. And that means setting a deadline, sticking to it and taking a hard decision when no unconditional bids are received.

Livibhoy, I found myslef in smilar situation last year and it has unfortunatley cost me my marriage. I was advised by Lloyds TSB and others to contact a company called PAYPLAN. They have dealt with everyrhing for me, setting up a debt management plan and my finances are as good now as they have been for a long time. I now pay them a regular monthly payment in line with what I can afford and this is distributed among the creditors according to agreed terms. Although this has cost me my marriage I have serious doubts whether I would be here today if I hadn’t faced the problem and sought their help.
