Appetites wetted, consequence of intimidation

608

For some, short holidays are over. Batteries recharged, appetites wetted. The international break is not the period of worldwide travel and mockery it is for others. If you think you are champing at the bit to get to Celtic Park on Saturday, Scott Brown and Kolo Toure could probably sprint there from Lennoxtown right now.

For others it will be a chance to put disappointments behind them. A few (well, maybe just Moussa) will return having achieved new heights for their country. As ever, Tom Rogic will pitch with jetlag having played in two continents in the last six days.

You know they will all want to see and impress Brendan. This is the way of it at Lennoxtown right now. They are bursting a gut at training to get into the team. Be alarmed, Motherwell.

You know when your PR is on nationwide TV, intemperate and pointy, that you are in special hands. Asking the same question four different ways lacks courtesy (and a whole lot more), but PR can’t let the journo leave knowing he’s got what he wanted from the encounter. I’m no PR expert, but you know when you see someone mis-control a proverbial back pass.

Still angry at that newspaper’s attack on Celtic yesterday. I didn’t buy it, so didn’t realise at the time they printed Peter Lawwell’s home address. You know what you are doing when you publish someone’s home address.  It rarely happens because the consequences are so uncontrollable.

It’s one of the most insidious acts legally possible by a newspaper. It has an immediate consequence of intimidation for the family – that’s a given when you make the decision to print something several hundred thousand times.  Utterly deplorable.  We are back in the era where attacks were incited on Neil Lennon.

Apologies for issues accessing the blog recently.  I’m on the case.

100% agree. McIlvanney was/is a fantastic journalist, but myopic in selecting what topics to openly challenge: the insidious (good word Mags) nature of Rangers (1872-2012) and the current entity operating out of Ibrox.

Sorry but I’ve been very busy can someone just tell me asap is the letters from the VAT man only to the Sevco club and/or individual p!ayers ?

    Both ?

Is this unpaid VAT only to do with their selling of season tickets, cos if so how can that involve individuals that are firmer staff etc ?

I think that you may be (conflating) two issues. My understanding is:-

HMRC has, apparently, issued notices to the former players who had/have EBTs.

The VAT man is allegedly chasing the club/ holding company for unpais VAT on income received for the first two quarters of this year. HH

Excellent summation of the issue. I have a niece who is now about 5 or so (can’t remember) who was pre-maturely born at a time when she could legally be aborted – you know, not a “viable” foetus and not yet a person. She survived and shows no sign whatsoever of not being a perfect little person.

An excellent example of why abortion is wrong; over and above the moral and ethical arguments of course!

  19. Good morning. Only 10 days to go if you haven’t completed the consultation survey on the repeal of the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act please click this link and complete it now.

If long forms daunt you, just give your contact details and then complete the 5 questions on Sections 1-5 showing you are in favour of repeal- that is just 5 ticks- then just scroll through to the end and press SUBMIT. It can be done in less than a minute.

If you are unsure about what to write for the full questionnaire, this crib sheet will help. Remember you are agreeing that the act should be repealed. Also remember to click Complete Survey at the end or your views won’t be included!

  20. Rogic to start tomorrow? That would be the manager and coaching staffs call, he’s been in a couple of diff. Time zones and has a few air miles put in obviously, it will all depend on his frame of mind and his body clock.

Then of course we have the CL coming up after the Motherwell game, one thing we’re not short of is midfield players so whether he starts or not I honesty don’t see it being a problem, even though we are up against the managerial genius of Mark McGhee as one of my old friends in here would say :)

Not that I take Motherwell lightly, far from it, we are not good enough to treat teams like that (no team is or should) I’m looking forward to getting my fix tomorrow at Celtic Park these international breaks are not for me but they do happen, roll on tomorrow, 3pts and a clean sheet will do me.

  21. tonydonnelly67 on 14th October 2016 8:51 am

Yes, play your strongest (fit) team. The coaching staff will assess fitness levels after the teams travels.

I expect Rogic will play if fit and recovered. He will want to play!

Agree with Pete C; this could be our biggest score of the season (so far).

  23. Cheers Bhoys for your answers.

Does anyone have an idea how much the VAT bill is, and if Sevco dontpay within a certain Timescale does this mean adminstration again ?

Also if Sevco sent an official to Sky last week begging for TV moneyup front surely sky would have told them to f##k aff, as IF Sevco cant pay their bills, then they go into administration again so therefore there won’t be Sevco games to show on sky this season ?

I find it difficult to believe that even Sevco would be that stupid to think sky would give them money for matches that end up NOT being shown ?
