Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

Two beautiful beautiful goals coupled with great football and people are talking about a non story about fans behaviour and last summers claims by the certified delusional’s bewildered claims of ‘armageddon’

That there is Scottish football to a T.

  2. Oh and I forgot to mention the continual racial abuse of Efe Ambrose throughout the first half by the home support.

Well that’s Forest relegated in season 2013/14 for sure with the appointment of McLeish

The jammy sod gets a job in a team one point off a play-off place! If they go up he’ll manage to spin it that he masterminded a promotion drive from the depths of the division.

There were a lot of extremely drunk people amongst the Celtic support last night.

Most of what I witnessed was good natured and harmless.

Methinks people are getting jealous-very- of our Celtic.. It ll get worse next year, as we progress and Sevco reality bites them..WE MUST stand strong.

I expect more spin and focus on all things negative especially our support.. And players ..

Last night Kelvin got it, and the support… 7.30 ko during Christmas, we re lucky the PLAYERS were sober..( only joking Bhoys)

And look what happens? Instead of CELEBRATING our great year and their demise, innuendo and negativity is put on our club..

It’s jealousy plain and simple.. Of course there’s the odd loose cannon in the support but PLEASE, I object to a society that gladly ignores all the seriously strange ongoings at Sevco not to mention 276 creditors… Whom I bet had a poor Christmas, while they triumph Green and his share issue..

Why no talk about David Murray, or a club that values religious discrimination while running up huge debts?!

Sick of the press in this country..

    Stand up for Celtic!

Expose Oldco/Sevco and their lies..past and present

    In Celtic we trust..

I have given up trying to find parity amongst Scotland’s shame of a media circus…….I wasn’t at the game and agree that we have set ourselves very high standards. Normally a few drunken arrests would hardly be worthy of news……..then again, we don’t live in a normal country……..

  11. Arranmorebhoy

  13. Arronmore – said all along that this year is sevco honeymoon time. A messy multiple divorce ahead, with many parties simultaneously trying to raid the kids piggy banks and offload them on someone else at the same time.

    ht,

In case I was not clear, I was apologising for questioning a CQNers motives.

I was most definitely not condemning Celtic supporters being a tad raucous

My source said it was like the 70s, crowd control for entry was nonexistent, a bit of nostalgia swaying with the crowd going through the gates and the polis only picking up stragglers.

A few fisticuffs here and there between drunks, big deal, only harm done was to combatants only collateral damage was to the sensibilities of those who want to take the classroom to a football game.

    Hail Hail

  15. Paul67 et al

Wasn’t at the game but followed it from afar. One thing that struck me though was the atmosphere. Only one word to describe it, raucous! (That’s Latin by the way). And it wasn’t just the Celtic support. It did remind me of the 1970s, and that was long before I read Jim Thomson’s statement. My reaction, for the most part, was wishing I was up at Dens Park. That changed in the second half when our support, and they are ours, decided to indulge themselves in a couple of ditties, that belong in the 1970’s, and they didn’t belong there either. But this isn’t the 1970s, it is the 21st century, it is 2012, Celtic’s 125th anniversary, our anniversary. A year, indeed a full season, to celebrate, not just the founder and founding of our club, but the foundations on which our club is built. Sad to say that one hundred and twenty five years on, there are some within us who still do not grasp the ethos set out by Brother Walfrid all those years ago, but instead apply their own philosophy to our club, one of alcohol fuelled unapologetic irreligious sectarianism. Or in words that they might just understand. Partying like it was 1899!

    Celtic mac,

By brother Walfrids ethos, the club should have shut down when the welfare state became a reality, his aims were achieved and surpassed, so modern alignment with brother Walfrids ethos is rubbish.

I would disagree with your source’s comment about non existent crowd control at the turnstiles.

It was the thorough but unnecessary body searches by stewards and police on the approaches that led to long queues and a confrontational atmosphere.

searches couldn’t have been very thorough going by the drink that was taken into the stadium…

  24. Celtic mac

Every club has an element within their support that some may find offensive.

In the Balkans, Russia or even cultured places like England racism is still evident. Football is a tribal sport, rightly or wrongly. Progress takes time but I would argue that Celtic fans have done more than most to move forward despite being on the receiving end of sectarianism far more than giving it out. We are not perfect but I believe we continue to move in the right direction and continue to be 300 years ahead of many of our rivals……..

  25. Seriously? Are we debating the alleged actions of some of our fans by someone from the DC clan of Dundee? Dearie me the riot police were in action at bigotdome on a horrible Tuesday night in mid December.

Much, much more importantly, does anyone know which city that new Ford advert takes place? The one were the guy dives off the dale through the doors of a car. It doesn’t bear thinking about if one of those doors had malfunctioned. They probably would have had to close the pool for a few hours.
