Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

  5. The Roll of Honour is a song about 10 young men who suffered horrendous abuse for years and who suffered agonising deaths for their dignity. I was priviliged to have a tour of the Maze after it was closed as a Prison and had a detailed description of Daily Life there and stood in rooms where Prisoners were tortured and where the Hunger Strikers died. It was a purely awful place how these men survived “On the Blanket” for years simply defies belief, I am glad those days are gone and that the Peace Process has delivered an element of stability but the events of that time are a legitimate part of history and deserve to live on in the age old Irish tradition of the Ballad. There is no way remembering the sacrifice of these men can be regarded as sectarian. Now I know full well that many Celtic Supporters do not have any desire to sing this or any other Ballad and I fully accept their rights and would never try and intimidate anyone or suggest that they are less Celtic because of their stance. I would suggest that they adopt a similar stance to those of the support who do wish to sing ballads.

  6. I see wiki has Nicolas Castillo set to sign up in January .

Defo think we need more firepower.

-3 goals between them suggests neither Lassad or Miku are up to the job

    – Tony Watt’s is much more effective when he comes off the bench ( understandable at his age)

    – Bangura is a big ? , albeit I suspect he may come good

    – Stokesy is unlikely to be fully match fit until February

Which leaves, only Hoops to grab the goals, and puts us in a precarious position if he gets injured.

Transfer window priority must be a striker who can hit the ground running.

  8. Canamalar @23.17,

If you say you’ve aplogised lots of times, I’m not going to argue with you – my comment wasn’t meant as a criticism.

I could go on, but maybe we should do it over a pint when I’m in Glasgow (a half-pint for me; I’ll explain why). BTW I thought that Inversely was a witty adaptation until you corrected yourself.

    Jings this is hard work.

Right in the spirit of Christmas I’ll answer the question, the question that you posed in response to my question.

No, I heard no sectarian singing/chants of any sort from the Celtic support last night.

Now will you provide evidence to support your allegations please.

  10. Just in from the pub after six or seven or maybe even eight pints,I never tried to break any seats, I never tried to steal anything, I never gave the bar man a fiver and demanded change of a £20, I never stood in front of the guy in the wheelchair trying to watch the darts, I didn’t have any Colombian marching powder, I never sparked up in the toilets, I never downed a a bottle of buckfast in a oner in the toilets and I wasn’t handed the Falls Road Karaoke song book

Is it no effin wonder I never had a good time

Match observer who turns up. To watch Celtic supporters no getting arrested, nightmare eh.

Not a word about the football or even the goals, sectarians and racist chanting of the opposition, forget all that and make up story’s

A young Celtic supporter appeared in court this morning charged with singing Roll of Honour.

And never in a million light years a sectarian ballad. That is not what I am referring to, it is the self indulgences of some of the support, last night. I used the term irreligious sectarianism for a reason, there was nothing religious about it.

Your argument can be used to defend the right of Celtic supporters to sing any ballad of any political preference or persuasion.

You would fully accept that right.

    Is that correct?
