Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

  1. I think if the Celtic bored were responsible in a corporate sense they would have fought the huns for that lost £60M+ CL cash that evapourated down Govan way instead of using them as a pacemaker. They should see that now. Do you think they will change their minds. Naw me neither. You are deluding yourselves if you think they are financial geniuses.

By the way on the chocolate bunny theory. How does one distinguish between pre pubescent huns and young sweet tooth catholics around the upcoming Easter spring equinox? Just wondering like..you know on how to gauge it. Based simply on the constellations… like a Celtic Bored statement ..how would you ever know you were fooling yourself. Like you all do.

Read my post post Karl I was sitting 120 yards, away from the banner that gave me the impression that the Dundee Derry boys were at the opposite end of the ground I was approximately fifty yards to the right of Hamiltontims suggested position and the the Dundee support sitting twenty yards to his left were most definitely in the 12 to 18 year old category

If Hamiltotim was in the Celtic End I would also suggest that he was also 120 yards away, the length of the pitch , from the said banner giving a fair indication to the position of the Derry boys

I for one minute do not condone the behaviour last night however the SPL bosses should know better than to have an evening kick off during the festive period!!

In my opinion this is an absolute non starter and the indivdual who arranges the fixtures should be fired.

As for the idiots involved you should be ashamed of yourselves!!

Not a good day for the greatest fans in the world!!

Till the huns + Mcleish outwitted him. Dont forget the Donut bank rolled him at Celtic as much as Aston Villa did which wasnt enuff!! I agree the huns cheated but we all knew that anyway as did the SFA the SFL and the MSM. Then proddy dog WGS came along…now there’s a true celtic legend!!

  9. em was anyone injured or seriously hurt at the game? is it just e or is this like a serious over reaction?

There were Priests and other “dignitaries” who travelled on those Crawfords Coaches in those days so Gerry was right to keep it tight.

He probably wouldn’t like my choice of tunes either but then again in private he might just have cracked a smile.

  11. My daughters friend was one of the bhoys lifted.

He was just singing the roll of honour.

He’s no ned and now barred from parkhead.

A sad indictment of the way the young ones are being treated by an establishment that allows masons to dictate…

    Crushed nuts…,

Don’t remember them getting the invite to serenade us in the stadium though many turned up unofficial capacity to support their team, I do remember them being serenaded by us though and I never had a problem with our choice of lyrics, which were sectarian, I’d have no problem with the same lyrics being sung today either.

  13. Mickybhoy@00.44..

Dont doubt what you are saying for a minute but I was about five minutes behind you trying to get in to the game..and by that point it was pandamonium..as you say many were trying to get in after having left the pubs but by that time it was a total free for all trying to get in..crowd control had failed big time by that point.

I posted this 6 months ago on CQN…visionary eh?

Can you imagine a cold Wednesday winter evening while the huns slog it out in deepest Brechin or Forfar while Celtic entertain Barcelona or Juventus at home?

That dream just got a little bit closer. Come on PL. Show Lenny your vision and not via specsavers.

If he is found not guilty/not proven, will the club re-instate him?

Also why are the club presuming guilt by punishing him prior to guilt being established?

  17. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    sipsini,

Guilty till proven innocent, even then innocence is no guarantee of getting the ban lifted, only the Celtic board are being this draconian, no other club in the land imposes such measures, none.

Their demand for mindless conformity is ripping the soul out of the club, money is god.

I was referring to the Dundee supporters in the shed but I think in reality you already knew that.

I think from my seat I had a better knowledge of what was sung etc amongst the home fans than from where you were sitting.

    Agreed?

As I said before I can only go on what I heard, on both live radio and ESPN. Watch, listen and get back to me. The first thing I did mention was how raucous the crowd were, not in the epic Celtic-Barcelona way, but in what Awe Naw would describe as a 7.45 Boxing Day day. I get that! It was incredible to hear. But, like it or not, the mikes picked up what can only be referred to as naked sectarian references. Not political or republican, sectarian.

  20. Normanstreet49 – thx! At least you an BT enjoyed it. Moonhowlers in fool mode tonight! Wrong time to post when folk wanna have a scrap about diddly squat. The Dundee disaster takes presidence! :-(

  21. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Celtic mac,

You’ll be able to quote those said naked sectarian references then, it’s no the first time you’ve been asked tonight, but it will be the first time you quote them if you do, then again you’ve no up till now, just the accusations with no substance.

A sad day indeed if the bhoy is banned from CP ……we are all doomed.

I always thought Celtic Football Club stood up against injustice.

    Sadly I may be wrong!
