Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

Aye,history will be unkind to Gordon Brown, but I also think he deserves better.

He had to deal with 18 years of chronic under-investment,and a generation of people who had been told they were of no use to anyone.

He didn’t see the crash coming-did anyone?-and apart from that, his methods would have worked.

Harsh. But the way of the world.

  2. KevJ/ TET,

And we need to start by standing up to the polis.

    Simples innit :)

    KevJ,

Do you not agree the polis have a lot to answer for?? You shared some experiences of your time during the “charge”.

    Thoughts??

And a lift over the turnstiles!

  4. BMCUW,

    Re GB, I agree amigo.

But also think he deserves credit amongst us socialists for the other work he did. I saw a lot of it, mibbes someone else can give an alternative pov, but in so many ways, he gave the poorest a chance. First thing the Tories did was kill those things off in “budget cuts”.

It’s no coincidence Brown had to force himself in there and then find himself forced out in a year. A good man imo who was trying all his life to do the right thing.

Not trying to turn CQN into a political blog btw, just trying to show how Raith Rovers have NOTHING, I say, NOTHING, when fighting the financially empowered corruption of Sevco and its incredible renewable history.

The problem with the police in general-not just at the games-is that they think they are there to make the law.

They are there to uphold and enforce the law, which is a big,big difference.

I blame it on events of nearly thirty years ago……

  6. I might add, anyone who’s benefitted from Tax Credits now or in the past, they wouldn’t have existed without Gordon Brown.

He wasn’t kicked out by a margin without a reason.

    Good man he is.

Though, thinking about it,you could go back to Eddie Shah’s Warrington Post dispute,or further still to the Grunwick dispute.

Neither of which showed the police in a good light.

  8. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

BTW,nice to see Eddie Shah getting his come-uppance at last.

Even having to sell his golf and country club in Wootton Bassett just to pay the legal fees…

  9. BMCUW,

Nah, amigo. It’s not cause of that. It’s cause they’ve been allowed to empower themselves. Or okay, mibbes that helped them.

Either way, they are ……….not very nice or smart people, for the younger readers.

Aye, they like their power, cos it feeds their ego, and they like the money, cos it’s feeds their family. Values and society don’t really feature in the brainwaves, which is why we, the society, is needed to remind them. Cos they are fick and what not.:)))

  10. BMCUW,

That Al Stewart, nice smokey folky melodic voice.

That Roger Taylor was overplaying :)))

BTW, who’s Al Stewart?? Whit a voice. Is he Davey Arthur?? Still listening….nice :))

    My Amigo !!!

    I hope yer well m8

    My thoughts….re: The Charge ?

I take it yer talking about – The Janefield Street – charge of mounted police against Celtic supporters whilst – Celtic fans trying to exit CP – after an OF game ?

If ye are well…it was probably the most frightening experience for some of the – invalid supporters – subjected to a riot-torn – hostile – aggressive – countenance of – police-work-tactics since…the Hampden Riot of 1980 ? More later….

Yeah, coming oot the Jungle onto – Janefield street that night wizny the most safe or pleasant experience. I seem to remember that the local housing association took the police to court but, unfortunately….it was an Embra Jury :o)

By referring to 1980….the huns attacked the – autograph-hunting fraternity of the Celtic support – on the Hampden pitch !

All of a sudden – the hordes of huns who had rioted all over Europe for decades – were on the pitch – attacking the young Celtic fans !

    Not a police-horse in sight ?!?!?

Then – when the Jungle-patrons amongst the Celtic support that day – realized what was going-on the pitch – the more mature version seen that plod wurny defending the Celtic weans on the pitch – so – unfortunately – had to take the law into their own hands as it were ?

When the Celtic support appeared to be winning the Hampden Riot – all of a sudden – mounted police appeared almost from nowhere ?

Yeah, and guess who they were facing wi their batons ?

I was on the pitch that day. But only to avoid being hit by the bottles being thrown from the back of the Celtic end.

Hopefully thats of some help Amigo

    God Bless

    Hail Hail

    Yes. Thanks for asking.

The loss of my young brother during the summer was a huge cross to carry, not just for myself but – the entire family.

Stephen passed away in August. His twin brother is a broken man since then.

Myself being the eldest – always there for him.

We’ll all meet up again one day.

That was due to an oversight rather than malice.

My first attempt to post it had it removed,I simply forgot the second time.
