Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

  1. There one was a rozzer what caught my eye,

He was a rozzer from the Isle of Skye,

    His short snose was snout,

    His cap was proud,

But his chin was not a thing to die for.

So he made us all sing, and dance and laugh,

and he asked, ffs, why don’t you rejoice?

    And we answered,

cos you f@cked up the stanza.

    Ya hun. :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

even though it was against our demograph,

There was a young lady from Bude

Who went for a swim in the lake

But a man in a punt

Stuck a pole up her nose

And said “You can’t swim here,it’s private!”

    Well done,Maggie.

You,and the British parliament , took a principled stand against Reagan,Haig and various other unprincipled gringos who chose interests before principles.

Not to mention your stand against Galtieri and his fascist junta.

Juan Peron`s post war welcome mat to S.S. genociders could account for the complexion of the unelected fascist cabal of `82 .

Some of whom are still being prosecuted in Argentina for the murder and torture of socialists and the theft of their babies.

Well done,Maggie. Not to mention Michael Foot whose principled stand against Hitler would have allowed him to recognise and resist new fascist aggression and expansionism.

  5. Hoy, Macjay !!!!

Last I looked, we were trying to establish the methodology behind Strathy’s Finest, and their provocational attacks on the Celtic Support to be fair, that’s more relevant now, no?? (PS, how are ye ?? :) ))

  6. Anyone any stories they want to share, eg KevJ and what happened to him and his family at Janefield St? Which he’s shared he’re umpteen times.

    Seems it’s important now.

If you don’t = history will be re-written again.

Why are Strathclyde Polis STILL harrassing Celtic Supporters??

We Irish know all about British principled stances in small islands and we also know about Thatcher’s ‘principled’ role in preserving and protecting life.

Don’t give me all that claptrap perpetrated by the British media about principles, we have too many examples where Britain and Thatcher’s morality was contorted to suit the narrative.

The abuse of Effe Ambrose was very audible on ESPN coverage up until about the 30th minute of the game. At that point in became less audible along with the sound of the ball being kicked. So microphones were switched off. Anyone who has recorded it can testify to it.

    Two questions for Jim Thomson.

How the Hell did Celtic fans know who you were?

What were you doing in the street if you were in charge of safety in the ground?

Ibhoy asks on the CQN match update thread why Effe was being incessantly abused 20 mins into the game so I was not alone. Dundee security officer was right. It was like being back in the seventies ?

Will the Compliance officer listen to it ?

  20. Mrs T (or the wicked witch)

Accordghing to info I read a long time ago, Mrs T was advised by her own intelligence dept that “Argentina intend to invade Falklands (jan, 82) and chose to do nothing. I.e send a naval vessel on manourveres. This plan for invasion was confirmed later by the CIA but it was now to late to react in a peacefull manner (did we want to give peace a chance) or was Mrs T needing to do something to get the Brittish public behind her?

In the early 90,s I was working south of BA and having coffee with an Argentinian workmate who said ” We won the war”! How come I asked?

“We got rid of our Dictator, you got one” No argument from me

Your Argentinian mate was half right.

Thatcher introduced “democracy” to Argentina or at least got rid of the fascist dictatorships which had corrupted Argentina for far too long.

Thatcher was democratically given the boot by her own party and Major was democratically elected by the British public.

The current Argentinian leader is a socialist with, not surprisingly,a German surname.

Any Glasgow based Tims know of any city centre pubs showing the game on Saturday?

I’m planning to meet some like minded mates so a pub with the game on would be helpful.

I know of one on the Gallowgate but was hoping for one nearer Central or Queen St.

    Thanks in advance.

  26. Morning, still mild and drizzly in the Chilterns but enjoy the calmness of this time of year…

Interesting the myth that the Falklands was some Great British with Mrs Thatcher as saviour still being peddled.

Just a few facts that should question that premise…

Why did the Government insisit the conflict was NOT a war until it was over?

Why were our allies not supportive of our actions and the UN against it?

Why did Sir John Knott the Defence Secretary resign shortly afterwards?

Why did Lord Carrington the Foreign Secretary resign before him?

Did they not want to bask in wondorous victory?

The Falklands “War” was a success only for Baroness Thatcher who spun triumph out of disaster.

Thirty years later as we look round at the miserable decline of our Country we can see the fruits of her wrong mindedness.
