Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

  1. Bada bing … Is that Nico Castillo the Chilean u21 striker?

When we’re we linked with him?

That’ll be the direct replacement for either stokes or probably hooper as he has similar attributes

It was brought to my attention that Wikipedia had been updated of our interest after I got this text last night. My information comes from somebody who I trust and is never far away.

Young Chilean striker being spoken about as a possible signing, huge potential according one our highly respected Scouts (not say who although they were named in the text I got).

He will be 20 on the 20th February.

  7. Kris Commons’ perfect playlist

By: Mark Henderson on 27 Dec, 2012 13:24

MUSIC takes on many different forms and personal preferences are equally diverse. Everyone has their own opinions and tastes, and the Celtic dressing room is no different, as readers of the Celtic View´s Christmas special will testify.

Over the past few years, the likes of Joe Ledley, Mark Wilson, Barry Robson and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink have all revealed their perfect playlist in the club magazine over the festive period.

It´s become a popular tradition, and this time Kris Commons stepped into the spotlight to showcase his musical tastes, choosing 15 of his favourite tracks, his top Celtic song and his Christmas cracker.

It’s an eclectic selection, with Indie, Dance, R & B and Northern Soul artists all featuring in his ultimate playlist. There are also some interesting stories attached to why they´re close to his heart.

Here is an exclusive snapshot of some of his favourite tunes…

    1. ARCTIC MONKEYS – FLUORESCENT ADOLESCENT

I like the lyrics and they are also a top band. When the football was going well at Nottingham Forest, and we used to listen to tunes in the car, this was one which we listened to all the time. It´s a good, upbeat tune to listen to in the morning on your way to work.

    5. THREE DOORS DOWN – HERE WITHOUT YOU

It´s a belter of a song. I first heard it in my mate´s car and he said it was something I would be all over. It was just one of those ones when you just hear it and instantly think – that´s a cracker. It´s just stuck with me for years and years. We played Tottenham away when I was at Forest and drew 0-0. I got Man of the Match in that game, and that was the song I listened to before playing the match. I have always had a connection with it. It´s not a lucky song for me but I seem to do well after listening to it. And it also got me into the band as well.

    7. THE TEMPER TRAP – SWEET DISPOSITION

Firstly, because it´s a class song. Last season, we had a collection of good bits of play, sliding tackles, challenges, goals and the crowd and this was the song to it. It was a bit of an inspirational DVD. I already liked it but whenever I listen to it now it reminds of that DVD of good Celtic moments. So it has stayed with me.

    8. ETTA JAMES – AT LAST

I heard the song on the adverts and never thought she sang it but, again, when she died I realised it was her. It seems to be used quite a lot on adverts and not just on the Coca Cola one. It´s a class song and she is a great singer. I don´t just like to listen to music – I always like to look deeper into the life of the artist, particularly if they have died or had a relatively difficult background.

    15. FRANK WILSON – DO I LOVE YOU (INDEED I DO)

This is my mum´s favourite. This is the type of music we listened to in the house growing up – Northern Soul and Motown. My mum and dad used to go to Northern Soul nights, wearing the dodgy flairs and go dancing, and they have all the trophies. They went to places like Wigan Pier and have all the badges. They used to a nightclub in town and then got the bus or train to Wigan and then partied there. It all seemed good fun. I can still listen to this song quite often. As I said, I like a lot of music – I also love stuff from the likes of Nat King Cole, the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley, and I haven’t even got one of his in here either.

    FAVOURITE CELTIC SONG

GERRY AND THE PACEMAKERS – YOU´LL NEVER WALK ALONE

When you walk about in the stadium and see all the fans singing and the effect of all the scarves in the air, it gives me goosebumps and makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I heard it on the radio for the first time in a long, long time and it got me thinking about the Barcelona night. So it just gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to it.

To see Kris Commons´ full song selection and many other great features and competitions, make sure you pick up the 96-page bumper Celtic View Christmas Special.

Nicolas Castillo. Not necessarily a replacement for anybody. However, from what I hear Hooper’s Agent the one forcing the issue.

Castillo not just idle wikipedia rumours.

  11. Silence chuck@10.54,are you absolutely sure about that?,had heard nothing about such a scenario, why would they be banned for the first three years they qualify?.

Now you know why I burst my nut, I’ve been putting up with that crap for almost seven years. The best way I can think to describe the baiting is hunnish. Seems to happen a lot in the Australian school holidays.

  13. MWD

I only found it when I went onto the Celtic website to gauge the clubs reaction to the racial chanting heard by yourself

Now that you have read it will you take cognisance of the message or do you condone the letting off of flares and fireworks in an enclosed heavily populated environment to the detriment of other supporters

  14. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

MWD- it was discussed in BBs [ the attitude of the disabled Celtic supporters to some of the banter] but that was long before the 24th.

Anyways, disappointed but not surprised to see Wishbone Ash not featurin’ in Kris Commons playlist.

  15. I apologise in advance but couldn’t help reading Tony HATEly on the Internet and quote part of his column in the !daily Ranger

“Rangers suffered by not being viable and could have gone to the wall”

You really cannot believe the guff and utter lies printed in this rag. And yet no one in the MSM questions it.
