Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start. They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval. They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team. Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.
You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club. This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost. Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do. This is a good thing. It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.
When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards. No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball. I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today. This will be a good thing.

I believe in a common sense approach to life, there are times when its sensible to take a step back and box clever and there are areas of Principle when you must stand up and be counted. I had a bit of a debate with mickbhoy last night and he agreed with me that The Roll of Honour was not sectarian but asked what had it to do with Celtic playing a Football game on Boxing Day 2012. I didn’t get a chance till now to reply and this post is not the definitive reply,but I would first say to mick, that for me the game was played on St. Stephen’s Day but the point you make could equally be applied to The Fields of Athenry, This Land is Our land, Let the People Sing, A Soldiers Song etc. are you advocating that all of these songs be dropped by the Celtic Support.

Maybe this is what Neil believes? He has more invested in Celtic than any of us (his career as well as the team he supports), and knows the pitfalls negative publicity brings. More than anyone, he knows this.
He has a right to speak out if he thinks it necessary.

Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo: your point about drunk people being allowed into the stadium is obviously pertinent. However, the only people to blame are those who indulged in the behaviour. We all make mistakes so I do not wish to forever mention the subject.
The issue for me is that we have people who will not accept that those people caused the problems. Instead they maintain the idea that we as a community are being seriously persecuted. What is most frustrating is when they make absurd comparisons to apartheid for example. If you don’t intoxicate yourself to extreme levels or chant songs about the IRA – you are unlikely to be hassled by the police while watching Celtic. Is that not true?
I wish everybody well for the forthcoming year. Let’s hope Celtic continue to make progression.
