Athletics doing the right thing

610

Celtic were near their silky smooth best against Hearts on Saturday. It looked like their fifth competitive game of the season, and Progres(s) on what we’ve seen in Europe. We now have two games in Glasgow – Kilmarnock on Tuesday and Partick Thistle on Friday, before Astana’s visit on 16 August.

Brendan Rodgers job will be to ensure the players’ fitness is near peak by then. The tiredness, which was apparent late in the game against Hearts, should be replaced by energy in the tank.

It must have been fingers in the ears time in various places across Scotland, as the World Athletics Championships dealt with the consequences of handing out prizes to those who didn’t compete within the rules years ago, while pondering what to do with those who were caught cheating, but remain at the top of their sport.

Athletics is trying desperately to move on. Jessica Ennis-Hill’s gold medal, awarded six years late, is a necessary step in the right direction. It’s not the same as winning on the track, not by a long shot (put), but athletes know their sport is intent on doing the right thing, no matter how long it takes.

Or Hearts but I think you are correct, the Seviile season springs to my mind and a trip to Magaluf for a team playing their last game of the season in a title decider, I might be way off though I have been before many times

    From ‘Developing Story’ …

Today, taped interviews and emails have been seized by the powers-that-be at Hampden,

    Seized ? Literally ?

  3. !!Bada Bing!! on

G67-Dessybhoy- posted last week when this was mentioned last week, the penalty Dougal gave is the worst i have seen, up against a lot of stiff competition ….

  4. I hope whoever has seized the tapes etc has been given copies not originals , just in case like.

  5. WC

hope you have copies of files and tapes if you handed them over

    to SFA

Else they will end up misplaced

  6. A few questions re the developing story,

Why has the info has been passed to the SFA of all people/organisations?

Why not just blow the story wide open?

Have Celtic FC been made aware of this?

    What are next steps?

  7. !!Bada Bing!! on

If we do have any evidence, get it published on here and elsewhere, before the Club can choke it

  8. To many false starts since the huns went bust or the famed legendary dossier to get excited about a developing story.

We could put that dossier in the dry powder room for safekeeping.

It’s Scotland the best wee country in the world.

  9. TheTimReaper

The ‘why did you give it to the SFA’ question is simple:

Only they have authority to deal with a regulatory matter, require the disclosure of documentation etc.

This is all civil law. The police would not entertain it at this stage.

Depending on what is unearthed by the regulator, it may become criminal.

If in the highly unlikely event a journalist requested the info, they’ll be told ‘no chance’.

  10. !!Bada Bing!! on

TWC- publish or be damned, the Club will try to bury it, going by the last 5 years

  11. There are some moments in Scotland that really do ram the racist and increasingly facist nature of Scotland down you throat. This from police Scotland.

“ONE of Scotland’s most senior police officers has warned Celtic’s Green Brigade to leave their politics outside football grounds.

Assistant Chief Constable Bernie Higgins said his officers will not hesitate to take action against those who promote distasteful political agendas at football games.”

So distasteful political agendas? Is it now illegal to show the wrong political leanings? WHAT?

Do police Scotland write their own laws? Do they decide what is distasteful?

On a day when police Scotland err found a”missing” person they had been searching for dead in their own home this really is remarkable stuff.

What’s this developing story stuff about? Anyone know?

  12. TWC

This is getting like Enemy of the State stuff, I hope they got copies and the originals are safe somewhere.

  13. As a self-employed stank lifter………..this is all beyond me.

  14. Joost,…..joost empty the park…

    Or,…..

Yeez will continue to be played….

    by the players !!!

Empty the park, and hurt the “real” cheats !!!

Have yeez got the stuff ?

    Hmmmmm…..?

    …..off-oot.

    Seriously?

  16. Pat Fenlon was to sit beside me on the plane home but an American couple took his seat and he facilitated them sitting together. I’d loved to have chatted with him about current Scottish football. Maybe I’ll get a chance when we’re getting off the plane. He attends some of the matches in The Bad Ass in Temple Bar.

Chris Sutton, as we knew all along, was bang on the money.

Let’s hope he is vindicated, if for no other reason than to see his very public reaction.

  19. Developing story.

Why go to the sfa with anything at this juncture.

A whistleblower insider would be more valuable imho.

  20. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Delaney’s and wee Bobby Collins , the ‘rookie’ manager stuff about Sally was so much more funny than Sally’s chat.

Delaney’s , when Sally joined the huns, George Glancy told me forget about the cheery, cheeky , chappy image , Sally was a bit of work.

George was well ahead of others in his judgement of sleekit Sally.

  21. DESSYBHOY @9-27PM

I have posted often on here about refereeing tolerance’s making hun diddy defenders look like Beckenbauer and Baresi.

In the 1-1 Madhun assisted draw the leeway given to Over the Hill to plow through the back of Dembele was glaring and whenever Dembele bettered him the cheat with the whistle called Moussa for a foul.

Wilson got a transfer to a club way above his talent level due to this and mssm praising him continually.

    Boumsong also.

Weir’s career was extended 5 years due to such.

I see that Top Cop (not from Fife) Bernie Higgins has spoken about the banners at the Linfield game.

Now, my understanding was that Celtic fans have been charged in reelation to these banners.

Is mr. Higgins allowed to proclaim their guilt ahed of a trial?

He said:- “I don’t think anybody would say their paramilitary banners at the Linfield match were anything other than distasteful — and criminal.”

CQN Lawyers- has he prejudiced a fair trial?

I thought this when I read it on Twitter earlier.

  23. That is the first time ( 9:27 link) I have seen this Developing Story and I am very surprised that more on here are not expressing positive feelings about what has been explained. I think it is very, very promising but maybe I am missing something as I don`t understand the Kilmarnock/Seville reference.

Given what the SFA have already brazenly managed to survive I’m agog at what has finally given them cause to engage with Celtic supporters.
