Athletics doing the right thing

610

Celtic were near their silky smooth best against Hearts on Saturday. It looked like their fifth competitive game of the season, and Progres(s) on what we’ve seen in Europe. We now have two games in Glasgow – Kilmarnock on Tuesday and Partick Thistle on Friday, before Astana’s visit on 16 August.

Brendan Rodgers job will be to ensure the players’ fitness is near peak by then. The tiredness, which was apparent late in the game against Hearts, should be replaced by energy in the tank.

It must have been fingers in the ears time in various places across Scotland, as the World Athletics Championships dealt with the consequences of handing out prizes to those who didn’t compete within the rules years ago, while pondering what to do with those who were caught cheating, but remain at the top of their sport.

Athletics is trying desperately to move on. Jessica Ennis-Hill’s gold medal, awarded six years late, is a necessary step in the right direction. It’s not the same as winning on the track, not by a long shot (put), but athletes know their sport is intent on doing the right thing, no matter how long it takes.

    &&&&&&&&&&

I hope the person who gave the sfa the tapes etc , took copies . Remember they have a habit of losing documents .

  2. Can anyone clarify, please. Was it our Board who handed the info over, or was it someone else who had the goods?

  3. Dallas- no pubs showing game except English pub The Salty Dog ( i think).

Turns out it was a Kodi stream which was pish. Ended up about 40 Tims watching feed from Mobdro on my wee phone for the 1st half.

Persuaded manager to buy the game at half time or we’d wreck the joint, although i did offer to pay first :-)

All good after that and when JF scored there was a mighty roar and sing-song that had the local Mallorcans bemused – but in a good way!!

    Hope you’re good buddy!

  4. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Art of War, it must have been pleasing for you to see the Rosenborg game which would have added more enjoyment to your holiday.

How do you expect supporters to feel about being shafted?

Should we just wait forever. There is always something, we need to wait for this, that, or the other.

And worst of all, if you should show a bit of impatience(5 yrs), you are a numpty, or you dont understand, or you are a fing trumpet, or whatever.

Maybe now and then, it would be good to listen to what others are saying.

  6. Auldheid

Surely putting it in the public domain would have the twofold affect of pressuring the SFA whilst alerting the public simultaneously.

  7. Dallas – the holiday actually hung on the result…so it was just as well :-)

6 minutes after final whistle the wifey text me “where are you?” FFS

  8. Always wanted to be on a jury…. 3 years ago eent on one…waiting for case to startfor 3 hours…….dheriff came in looking like thunder…police lost all evidence in morning……..be careful….

Not just the footballing authorities that lose documents in the best wee country.

The government did on hate crime stats when they were shown overwhelmingly to have been committed on Catholics.

  10. Auldheid – absolutely!

Justice has to be seen to be served on each and every cockroach that has blighted our game.

If that involves any member of our board then it has to be addressed.

    Hang ’em high!

    ================================

    Not in my experience HT.

However if evidence was irrefutable and SFA had seen it and could not refute, that is when media might pay attention.

If there is one loophole the SFA will find it and squeeze through it.

If they have cause to refute better report that than create great expectations to have them dash all over you like mud spitting from a geyser.

Social media raises expectations based on incorrect understanding.

Three years after the event I was still correcting the idea RFC refused CL entry in 2012 because the did not have 3 years accounts.

Ok who still doesn’t know the right reason?

Folk find what they want to find, not what is actually there. To find what is there you have to be prepared to look with unprejudiced eyes, not an easy task setting aside core beliefs.

  12. “Don’t interrupt your enemy whilst they are making a mistake.”

There have been so many red herrings on here ,that I have very little faith that the latest “explosive story ” will amount to much.

Trying to out manoeuvre our enemy .

    Being patient.

    Playing the long clever game.

None of it has worked with the title stripping or the same club myth.

    Just expose the truth.

The Machiavellian skills of our CQN freedom fighters have proved impotent so far.

How would you feel if you had spent ages trying to address the very thing you rant about and are criticised for your efforts?

You have no idea how I feel, but its what you do with the anger that counts not telling the world how angry you are.

When I see meet, I don’t mean in anger but to give you a much better understanding what we are all up against and why its taken 5 years, for you clearly have no idea.

The guys running this have my sympathy for no sooner have they put their heads above the trench than they get sniped at.

Blue on blue I think is the military term.

  15. Auldheid – the thing that rips ma knitting is the closing of ranks.

We are feckin amateurs as we don’t have their mindset. We are a disparate force. They have unity.

    =======================

The Board probably read about it same time everyone else did.

I had a little advance knowledge but no hard facts to base any judgement on. I very much doubt Celtic knew more than a heads up if that.

  19. Joost,….joost, gie the evidence to the PLC…..

I dont know if you have noticed, but do you think you are the only one on CQN that gets bs?

Ive said to you before what is at the root of this, and until that is tackled and weakened, this banana republic will remain corrupt to the very core.

You really think this is about glaikit idiots like Regan and Dungcaster.

I completely understand how Auldheid feels when putting in so much effort and time and he believes that those efforts are being criticised by those he’s trying to help.

I don’t think that’s what’s happening here. It’s not criticism just personal perception and observation.

  25. I see the statement says tapes , emails , were seized by the sfa . Why not requested , or offered , why seized . Myself and my brothers also made it to killie that day . We had that sneaky feeling we would not be allowed to take the title that day . And btw , the guy between the sticks for Dunfermline that day ,is as big a Hun as anyone , fact .

AULDHEID . I read your piece there . But I’m with some of the other posters on here , why present the enemy with evidence against them . That has only given them a chance to cover there tracks .

  26. AULDHEID @ 8:13 PM,

Good stuff as usual from Barcabhoy.

There are many of us that are looking for a scatter gun approach, so the whole Rangers shebang can be looked at through a Judicial Review.

I get the impression that this is more a case of a Marksman picking the target and having one shot to hit the bullseye.

In terms of timescale I guess the Supreme Court Decision is key…

There is was an interesting quote from a QC after Mike Ashley’s attempt to have a JR quash a fine re: dual interest in Clubs, the SFA failed to argue that the Court had no Jurisdiction. Assuming that the ruling covers the SPL – SPFL, if it can be proved that the SPL Commission erred in Law then the decision of the Commission Could be Challenged…

“The SFA tried to argue that the court had no jurisdiction at all to deal with the challenge to the decision of its tribunal, but in that argument it was unsuccessful,” he said. “While the details are of interest to students of judicial review, the essential point was that the court held that judicial review of a private body which was otherwise within the ambit of judicial review in Scotland could be successful on the ground of an error of law by that body.”

So by LNS assuming that the EBTs were Legal and the Supreme Court ruling otherwise maybe grounds for a Challenge lie there?

    Need some wise heads to determine;

On what grounds a group of supporters can make a challenge

The challenge needs to argue the SPL Commission made an error in law

That the error led to the wrong determinations by the Commission.

    If successful then what??

The Commission has to revisit and review the relevant findings?

Strike off the Commissions findings and order that a new enquiry is set up on the basis that EBTs are illegal?

Even this could be quite a major victory in regards to eligibility of players and sporting advantage but would be of course limited.

As things stand I’d be happy with such an outcome but your point about looking at the dishonesty and the contention that the SFA are the Body that should more appropriately be dealing with this, as it has the rules and regulations to impose more relevant sanctions.

How do we get there? Is it even possible without the SFA agreeing to this independently of the JR?

Or, should the guys who are applying for the Judicial Review argue that the SPL was never the Body to look into this as they did not have the necessary powers of jurisdiction. And a wide ranging Review by the SFA is called for… That would be nice but seems a difficult approach in terms of a challenge through a JR.

Well, it seems fraught to me and way over my heid, do hopefully the smarter and wiser guys have this covered.
