Athletics doing the right thing

610

Celtic were near their silky smooth best against Hearts on Saturday. It looked like their fifth competitive game of the season, and Progres(s) on what we’ve seen in Europe. We now have two games in Glasgow – Kilmarnock on Tuesday and Partick Thistle on Friday, before Astana’s visit on 16 August.

Brendan Rodgers job will be to ensure the players’ fitness is near peak by then. The tiredness, which was apparent late in the game against Hearts, should be replaced by energy in the tank.

It must have been fingers in the ears time in various places across Scotland, as the World Athletics Championships dealt with the consequences of handing out prizes to those who didn’t compete within the rules years ago, while pondering what to do with those who were caught cheating, but remain at the top of their sport.

Athletics is trying desperately to move on. Jessica Ennis-Hill’s gold medal, awarded six years late, is a necessary step in the right direction. It’s not the same as winning on the track, not by a long shot (put), but athletes know their sport is intent on doing the right thing, no matter how long it takes.

  1. Would be nice if someone who contributed to the developing story article could respond to some of the points made by ITALIABHOY on 8TH AUGUST 2017 6:56 AM.

My own question would be what sort of timeframe are you anticipating for the evidence now in SFA possession to be made public, either by them or yourselves, is it days / weeks / months / years?

For tonight I hope to see a lot of changes, I think Kouassi and Brown are too similar to play together so looking forward to seeing the former playing tonight, possibly alongside Armstrong and Rogic. I would not be risking the Griff or Jozo, Firhill on Friday night is enough for this week with Astana in mind. I’d probably leave at least Sinclair and Tierney out as well given their importance, but we did field some strong teams in the LC last year.

Hypothetically, if you had some damning evidence of nefarious acts, you could turn to the SFA and say “Here’s some juicy info, you have two weeks to do something about this and all the other cheating or we will publish everything, including details of your attempt to bury this”.

What you say is very true, even when there is “proof” they will deny or make an excuse and this will be accepted by the Authorities.

That’s why I was so keen on Res12, it was the smoking gun, sure I didn’t think it would lead to the licence being revoked or any apologies, compensation or sanctions.

But the hope was it makes it more difficult for Sevco to operate in this manner. Rumour has it that their Application for a UEFA Licence wasn’t simply rubber stamped but was sent back to the Club and had to be resubmitted.

Hardly a great victory for the efforts the ghuys put in but progress none the less.

Likewise if there is evidence to suggest anything approaching match fixing in Season 2002/3.

The SFA have to ask themselves, and remember the SFA have investigated none of this, can a Treble Winning Season really be allowed to remain unchallenged and in the History Books when we look at how Rangers were run that Season.

These cases, like the Supreme Court Ruling cannot be allowed to go unchallenged.

Speak to Mark Daly rather than Jon Daly, perhaps he will point you in the right direction…or are you afraid you will be ostracised by your peers? Anyone who thinks BR will play anything resembling a weakened team tonight has not been watching the past year.I fully epect Griff to play at least a half tonight. The guy himself says he needs game time.I think Biton and Joze will again play.Ntcham, and Eboue also.Really looking forward to seeing Eboue and Rogic together. The way Eboue passes forward into guys in space, tailor made for Rogic.I agree with Griff on Ntcham. The way he takes a pass and instantly moves the ball on is wonderful.Great brain.

We will pass Kilmarnock off the park tonight.BR wants another treble.Be in no doubt.

On the subject of time bar, could there be an issue in that the LNS commission’s central tenet (legality of EBTs) was still subject to appeal when the commission sat, and so surely any challenge or appeal to commission findings could not then logically be made until all appeal avenues to EBT legality had been exhausted (as with SC decision 5th July) ?

Seems that SPFL were somewhat opportunistic in their timing of the review and and the consequent relatively short window of appeal ?

Is this a relevant point or not in the context of any JR consideration ?

When someone presents you with a problem, you construct a strategy to deal with it. However, when you constantly have to lie to uphold that strategy, its difficult not to make mistakes. And sooner, or later, it will crumble.

  21. I recall a midweek game at Tynecastle were, the huns were awarded a mibbery penalty, in the last minute by, Dallas and, on the radio on the way home, the BBC, asked MO’N about our chances in the title race, given the huns dodgy victory.

MO’N said – “For us to win this league, we won’t need to be a good team, we’ll need to be a super team!”

Ah think there was a lot of carry on about the dodgy linesman, who gave the dodgy penalty – Andrew Davis.

    Was that in 2003 ?

Or, was that another mibbery season ?

    Anyway,….

    …..off-oot.

A judicial review should be taken very shortly after the decision or judgement that you wish reviewed has been issued.

So, a judicial review of LNS faces a difficulty in that regard though it may be overcome by arguing on the point that the supreme court case makes it unsafe and you frame an action of declarator asking the court to declare that the ruling is unsound etc.

I know that the timing issue is being looked at as is the legal status of a fan or shareholder in terms of his or her having the legal capacity to raise a judicial review – especially if he or she is a shareholder in a football club.

That is why I have been advocating that there are other routes to follow.

However, establishing the status point is possibly the most important legal exercise undertaken in Scottish Football in a century!

Once established …….. well it opens a few doors lets just put it that way.

    Step, by step by step.

All good things come to those who wait and beware the wrath of a patient man!!

  23. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Kev, that game was in 2005. .

Mark Burchill had equalised for Hearts .

He also scored against us when Hearts beat us 2 nil at Celtic Park that season.

  24. Not in any particular order I’d be genuinely concerned if,

Sevco made a statement banning their sectarian chants

    I’d be genuinely concerned if,

Sevco announced they had any new ‘banker’

    I’d be genuinely concerned if,

SMSM ceased to regularly vilify Celtic managers

    I’d be genuinely concerned if,

Bobby Madhuns stopped having to help Sevcs?

Old Rainjurs impediments and crimes will permanently keep Sevco where they are suspended in a nowhere, their desire to be the same club, a forlorn hope that haunts them, inside their penniless arcade locked in by their real Rainjurs men who threw away the keys.

Sevco for as long as they are around on this new unique level playing field enjoyed by us and very other club in Scotland are easy meat for Celtic, as any number of humpings will testify, and no amount of mibbery can prevent.

Financially and morally elite Celtic go from strength to strength and all impeccable justice cards will be dealt by the time Celtic complete seven titles in a row.

May your Celtic go with you.

What people really are not getting is how the cabal work, you have to trust me here, but I know how they work inside out.

There are few things that the cabal will not tolerate, not being top dog is among them and the one that irks them the most is Timmy getting one over on them.

Even when you have the proof, facts that can’t be refuted, they will circle the wagons and close ranks, they will instruct the media to ignore the evidence, everyone will be on message, every one from the media to the highest government ministers, unless one of them breaks rank, you are farting against thunder.

We have witnessed the Hillsbourgh enquirey taking 30 + years to get a result, a result that will not entail anyone getting their just deserts, but it took over 30 years for any semblence of justice to prevail, this has been with the backing of government ministers and sections of the media.

  29. I think De Vries should start tonight, not just because it is a cup match, but he also did very well in recent friendly. Good for Gordon to have competition too. Griffiths should only play a small part – enough to guarantee victory and then wrap him up in cotton wool (or a scarf to a goal post:-))
