Attitude for Tynecastle

2311

I watched Hearts batter Pat Fenlon’s Hibs into submission at Easter Road last month.  They are not a good team but they have elbows and commitment, often the key resources in a football game.  With our interest in the League Cup and Europe curtailed, and the league title a sure thing, it is enormously important that we remain in the Scottish Cup into the New Year.

Attitude is the most important attribute for Celtic this weekend.

Things you don’t expect to do when you start blogging: I took four calls from journos yesterday asking if I knew a Celtic fan prepared to go on record as an IRA supporter!  I don’t, for the record, not one, so no one else should bother checking.  Lack of support for that organisation and, where support exists, an awareness that representing yourself as such, is not inconsequential, will explain the dearth.  Just as it’s not inconsequential when you represent your club.  I can’t see many inviting the consequences.

I also got a call yesterday and a faxed copy of a contemporary Celtic View (yes, a fax) from a fan who was beside Jock Stein when he went into the crowd at Annfield that day in 1972.  It was all very cordial, of course, no one argued with Jock.

Jock was at the height of his powers.  Five years from the European Cup win, two from his last final and four months since losing a European Cup semi-final on penalties, he had yet to lose a league as Celtic manager.  His comment in the View, “The Wreckers are chanting about things that have nothing to do with football” was respected, Celtic fans went back to football matters.  But this was 1972.  News from Ireland was despairing.  Rangers fans (and according to newspaper reports, Hearts fans) were chanting “UDA” without censure, Celtic fans eventually retorted.

This is all sooo last century, apart from the consequences, of course.

Sharp focus for Sunday…

On a completely different subject, those of you who have received the annual will have seen that there is an update on Vanessa Riddle inside.

I received a message from her Dad saying he had received his copy of the annual and once again thanking everyone on CQN for their support and expressing his admiration for the annual itself.

Quite separately I can reveal that MacKenzie Furniss has just undergone an uncomfortable round of chemo but it is to be hoped that she will start to feel better in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Her Dad has told me that her mouth is very sore and that she can’t eat or drink as a result of the Chemo…. but that hopefully this will improve over the next wee while.

    Game over .

Kaka has just scored a beauty for the third.

  4. Regarding the Nevin interview I am looking forward to what he has to say, maybe he has made a mistake, maybe not however it will be good to hear his side of things and I am sure the bhoys who did the interview have left no stone unturned. Let’s wait til we see the interview before we jump in.

Regarding Forrest, thought he was fantastic v Karagandy in what was our biggest game of the season, he is young and we are crying out for youngsters to get a run in the team and then some either here or a games give him pelters. In saying that my favoured right side would be Lustig Mathews and or Fisher, against Milan away the right side with Lustig and Mathews was the best part of our side in that game.

You don’t answer to me. You said earlier that you wouldn’t give him the platform to abuse the Celtic Support (or words to that effect). Since he already has, globally, and not retracted those words. globally, then rightly or wrongly I am left to believe that he will repeat them, and if he does, and you don’t publish it, then to my mind that is censorship.

If he, for whatever reason, regrets his words and accusations, then again to my mind, the platform for him to broadcast that is not CQN… it is the BBC, the same platform he used to tell the world how sectarian we are.

And you say respected SFTB, and his like, posed the questions, no disrespect intended to any of them, but since when did they speak for me as an individual, or the Celtic Support as a collective, or are we being a wee bit exclusive here?

I will read the Nevin interview, but I will NEVER forgive him for what he has said about CFC and its fans and what he has FAILED to say about deidco/newco and their follow followers.

  9. Re. Pat Nevin interview.

He has been interviewed by people who can be trusted.

Once read, I will have my opinion of Nevin confirmed, reversed or amended.

    Simples.

    Do what you want mate.

Read the article– don’t read the article– say it was great– say it was shit– say it was nothing at all!

Have it confirm your views– have it change your views– have it make you want to ask more questions or have it stuffed in the bin.

Have it redeem Nevin in your eyes or condemn him to hell even more.

The point is that he has been silent and there were questions some members of the Celtic support wanted to ask– so we asked them?

    End of really.

  11. I will be interested to hear Nevin’s thoughts .

Do not think anything he will say , however , will change my mind on him.

    Hail Hail

So Silvio has decided that Milan will have TWO CEOs.

The fragrant Barbara, and old Adriano who in his youth was, allegedly, an Inter fan.

Will probably end in tears – they cant stand each other.

    HH!!

  13. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan:

End of because you say so? Really?

Will it be end of for the millions around the world who heard what Pat Nevin accused the Celtic Support of?

In your mind, parochially, you might be satisfied, for whatever reason, to my mind however… I can’t see a balance to the scales.

Am I such a bad person for wanting truth to be told to all those that were lied to and not for the truth to be quarantined?

Am I really a prick for asking for equality, and by equality I mean micro-equality, every second of every minute of every hour of every day of the week for every person who lives regardless of all.

And if injustice is done, am I a prick for asking for no less than equitable justice to be served to those wronged?

CQN v BBC in my mind, Celtic Supporter as you well know I am, it does not equate and on that basis alone, I would wish to be no part of it, which I’m not, but others are, yourself included, and I wish you nothing but the best but I reserve the right to be disgusted; just like you do.

  14. Jimmy Greaves would have scored a hat-trick in three minutes against that Man Utd defence.

I believe he made his debut for Chelsea as a 17 year old.

Would never have got a game if NFL had been the manager.

    Imo, of course.

    HH!!

  15. Got to say I am losing faith in some of our support. The latest being the burn the witch attitude towards Pat Nevin.

Nevin said what he said. I don’t lose any sleep over it. I thought we were above the petty and I certainly thought we were above the name calling and castigation. Nevin is human just like you and me.

I also have to laugh at the juvenile position that some folks take with respect to this blog. CQN I would like to think is pragmatic due to our host. This blog has gone some way to educating us all on what Celtic are like in the real world and has exposed the copy and paste journalists for what they are. There is no censorship. You can express any view within modern reasonability.

I would really welcome the results of an interview with the organisers of the Green Brigade. If CQN continues to mature I think we have to broaden the scope and encapsulate views which may not always suit the general consensus. Although at times there is never a consensus on here!

If you don’t welcome other peoples no matter how radical they are you put yourself in danger of being as bad as the copy and paste brigade. Fingers out of ears and rears follks this is an important time to be a Celtic supporter.

  16. Before interviewing Pat Nevin we asked for questions from CQN and the Facebook page and these were used at the interview. If you submitted a question it would have been asked.
