Thought we were as skillful if not more…..but we were way behind in physicality……way way behind…..it is such a huge part of the modern game.

    .Agree 100% mate

But i think Ange will toughen us up.give away a lot of fouls cos we’re getting bullied in challenges.

  2. Don’t think we learned anything new last night. We went into the match knowing:

    1. We are still a work in progress but most of us surprised and thrilled by how progress we’ve made so soon

    2. Europe and rangers are our true test of our progress – let’s hope Sunday sees us continuing to make progress. A draw at this stage would be a good result for us.

    3. Hart has mistakes in him – but he recovered well

    4. . Starfelt hasn’t settled yet and his left peg needs improving – but he recovered well

    5. Young players like Welsh are going to fail to do the right thing at times – just as older players do! Welsh recovered well

    6. We need a really good hold-up CF

    7. We need a big confident CB

    8. We need a stronger bench

    9. We have a really good manager

The remainder of the transfer window should be really interesting in terms of who we get on loan and who leaves.

  4. Flight from Yerevan arrives in Glasgow at 5.45pm , not a scheduled flight destination from here, pity they didn’t get taken to extra time but less time to prepare for them for sunday

  5. Gooooooooood morning from a happy clappy Garngad

    Weather…uch its dry.

What a great performance last night…was it ropey- yes, was it fraught with tension – yes, was it back of the couch through the fingers watching stuff – yes, did we make a few errors that cost us – yes .

    This is Ange ball.

Score 1 more than your opponent and job done.

I think Starfelt and Hart recovered to save us a few times.

On Starfelt my patience is waring thin. He should not be swiping at that ball with his weaker foot but hey we are through.

Now onto the biggest cheats in world football on Sunday.

Win this and sevco’s arse will collapse.

Ange ball on Sunday again fellas, strap yourself in and enjoy the the thrills.

Ps dont listen to the scottish MSM pedal how lucky we were, Hun manky mob played about 200 mins inclusive of injury time against a pub team and scored 1 that’s right 1 goal. Discuss that Scottish media or is it a case of job done….. aye right ya ….

    D :)

  6. Now we have European football secured, today has to be the day to get any deals that are in the pipeline completed. Might be enough to encourage Ronaldo to give City a miss 😜

As a Celtic supporter of 40+ years- Know your enemies!

    ——

Yes i agree – but you omit the biggest enemy of all that a sunstantial number of our fellow supporters & families slavishly and misguidedly follow:

“Beware the cunning & devious wolf in sheep’s clothing who will turn and savage when your usefulness is no longer required”

  8. SIONNAIGH on 27TH AUGUST 2021 3:17 AM

Dedicated to all the brave US soldiers and Afghanistan civilians whom died in the last 24 hours at the hands of Godless barbarians. May God bless all the poor souls that will follow and went behind.

    —–

Yes I agree 100% and also shame on those who would back these genocidal maniacs on the warped basis that “my enemy’s enemy is my ftiend”

These cretins will turn the torture screw on their own people just like their compatriots in other barbaric countries ruled by old men with long beards.

  9. JHB on 27th August 2021 7:09 am

Away and geeze peace ya total racist weirdo troll.

Now awaiting Ernie to jump in supporting his pal.

  10. Our enemy was beaten…..finito….dead,

but Scotland would not, could not countenance burying it.

    That is Scotland’s Shame.

This Zombie enemy will keep walking in any way shape or form that Scotland sees fit.

  11. Totally confused now I thought JHB was a big fan of natural selection based on religion but it appears that only applies when its his/her religion, the rest are all barbarians.

  12. Great result last night, very scary at times but a huge win for a relatively young team. I hope we are injury free, it looked like we have 2 or 3 to worry about.

I’m struggling with Starfelt, no amount of coaching will improve his basic skillset and technique and at 26 (I think) I don’t see him improving to become the commanding CH we really need.

  13. In ither news…………..

We recovered well to see the game out, before AP we would have crumbled.

They are a good side and we coped. We’ll get better while our failings are being addressed.

Joes much better than what we had, Starfelt recovered some composure and showed up for the second half.

Eddy changes games. Keep him regardless. We wont replace him. Fury needs cover as he’s gonna get injured sooner rather than later and without his threat we look toothless…….remove Eddy as well and we’d be heidless……

Shorties coverage of ours and thems results………..!

    Oh aye………….

    HHH.

  14. Good Morning CQN

    Know your enemies indeed

As a Celtic supporter of 40+ years, I ignore all of the following:

Ange told us it would be exciting at both ends of the pitch, this man tells the truth !

AZ for an hour played with such intensity, energy, and skill that we struggled to cope, luckily they lacked a goalscorer over the two ties, we may not be so fortunate in the group stage games

Turnbull and Rogic are talented offensive players, both players lack pace and defensive abilities AZ had the run of the midfield for 60 mins, protecting a 2 goal advantage away from home will need a different team selction in the future, McGregor can’t be expected to defend midfield on his own

Team defended well last 30 mins delighted with the spirit and commitment to see us through which, in the end, is all that matters in the development of the team this is a big moment for Ange and the squad confidence and belief in Ange and each other will have jumped a few notches

As so many others have said an LB and LCB are urgently required plus IF Edouard goes an adequate replacement, get the deals done Celtic, no excuses !

Watched Sevco last night a shadow of the team at this time last season, Sevco were lethargic, lacked spirit and energy, fortunately, their Armenian opponents were of a poor standard, it will be another big test away from home for Ange ball, however, Sevco are not AZ, 6 weeks ago I was apprehensive about our trip to Ibrox, I hope my newfound optimism is realised with 3 points

    Enjoy your day

  15. Great result over the two legs – great application by the players and manager.

We can look forward to our ever ambitious board sanctioning around 20% spend of the expected £20m boost………

Sadly nothing changes in the boardroom- they do not match the ambition of the team, the manager and the support – prove me wrong…

  16. spot on!

    ………………………………………………..

    GLENDALYSTONSILS on 26TH AUGUST 2021 11:12 PM

Ange’s attitude is great , positive without being delusional . Acknowledging the mistakes for the goals but praising the second half reaction . He can sort us out but needs the backing of the board .

Re Govanhill – my first flat was in Annette St near the school – loved that wee place and the busting fruit n veg shops on (what?) Calder St What was the wee Irish boozer just next to Vicky Rd.

Re player In and Outs…I think we will see little in next few days. Maybe Scales – but Swiss Army Bitton will be on hand when we suffer defensive calamity (also helps create them from time-to-time). Seriously, he’s not a bad player but CH isnt his natural game.

Upfront, we will only see a new striker if Eddy gets his dream move. Hope it works out better than his mate Olli’s dream move to the Polish league.

Prefer Greg T at LB v the currants. Mon the Tic!

  18. I expect todays sporting “news” in scoddland

to be littered with references to the convenience and integrity of pcr tests……

    *cough*

  19. Playing out from the back, passing to players under pressure and losing possession near our own goal is here to stay. And someday it will cost us a goal or two.

But not last night. AZ were really good at the press. In the SPL there aren’t any teams capable of that level of intensity for that length of time. And even they had to resort to long balls in the air for the last 15 minutes to try and break us down. They didn’t.

A wee dunt off Welsh’s shoulder followed by a inexplicably hesitant Hart cost us the first. A swing and unfortunately not a miss by Starfelt’s left peg was unbelievable for a professional footballer.

Our attacking play will win us the league.

Can we just avoid West Ham please? Antonio is tearing up the EPL just like he did to us.

  20. The teams we’ve came up against in the Europa group stages seem to go on to play champions league soon after. Salzburg, Leipzig, AC, Lille, Rennes. We’ve had some very tough opponents in the group stages. I expect the same today.

  26. There is no negatives to our games vs. AZ. We played and came through against a team that are arguable better than any of our domestic opponents, we tested ourselves against a good quality team. It would have been very easy for the players to let their heads drop once we went behind. That did not happen, they all worked hard for each other and we can all see the game plan with our own eyes. It’s not perfect but it’s never passive.

The changes witnessed are off the back of Ange having little time to prepare the team in terms of player recruitment, shape and style of play. Like anything else in life the more fimiliar the players get with the system i.e. training and playing games etc. the better the team will be for it. Once the core of our players are very fimiliar it will be easier for new players to come in.

Lots of talk about recruitment. Having watched us against good opponents last night I actually think the priority, based on our current squad and if Scales is coming in should be a left winger and striker (if eduard is sold).

As well as Christie has done out wide it is clear he is not a wide player and lacks the threat, pace to really harm top opponents out wide. He is far better in the middle of the pitch. Hope we get him to sign a new contract.
