Backlash needed for Highlanders

623

Three weeks after putting 8 goals past South Lanarkshire’s top team Celtic struggled to demonstrate their superiority against the county’s least decorated SFA member

We’ve seen these games before, East Kilbride looked no weaker than the Arbroath team who took us to a replay after drawing at Celtic Park a few years back, but neither performance was an endorsement of Celtic’s football.

I’m getting an uncomfortable feeling that teams know how to play Celtic. For most, this knowledge will not affect the result, but some, like Ross County and Aberdeen, will figure they can give us the ball all day, and as long as they stick to task, they’ll have a chance.

The only resolution to the ills of the last three outings is to get back on the field and boss a game the way we did several times last month. Ross County and Inverness both visit Celtic Park in the next two weeks and both need to feel a backlash. Let’s hope.

I thought with the near guaranteed promotion of the Hun that we’d be better off to the tune of £10 million a year according to PL.

If that’s the case, why was out spending this transfer window so small?

Why is Ronny being reviewed in June?

    _______________________________

How much spending would be enough for you? We needed a CB and I think we got a good one.

Let’s not forget that Ronny is keen to give contracts to Forrest, Rogic and Mulgrew after Biton has signed on. If we keep giving out contracts we won’t sign as many players.

Our squad will likely be more expensive than those we face in the qualifiers. If we fail again, it’s still the fault of the players and the coach.

  2. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Oh, and as for Radar wanting Celtic to replace Ronny with Stubbs. Well, of course that would mean Stubbs leaving Hibs. Any reason he might be keen on that? Hmmmm……..

  3. Let’s be honest here, the last three games we have been poor, calling out Celtic supporters for voicing their opinions on it is also poor.

We can’t all be happy clappers, debate, one way or another can only lead to an open my mind and not led astray by the more vociferous on here.

We are too lightweight in midfield, our defence is a bombscare at times and if Leigh Griffiths gets injured!

    Get the blinkers off. HH

Morning Bhoys from a dry Central Scotland well Greenock Morton in the next round of the cup so a wee chance for revenge. I think we need to give Ronny a break he is the Celtic manager and until otherwise he deserves our support . We have to look at the bigger picture Ronnie is trying to develop the whole playing side at Parkhead not just the first team and that is big task but it will be worth it if more of our youngsters find there way into the first team. I do feel we have to reduce both the money and the risk of continuing to buy in players and develop more of our own youngsters and Ronny is working on that. However some of us are impatient and want to see progress much quicker than is possible and this leads to frustration I believe if we continue to support Ronny he will turn out to be the real deal. H.H.

  5. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

    As I posted yesterday..

The discontent goes way beyond the last 3 games- those performances have only brought feelings to the surface.

I’m in favour of some change but I do believe we have no option but to stick with it at this point. Winning this league is the key. By reaching this point, I am by default preparing myself for another disappointing European campaign. Ronnie if he’s in charge won’t do it. If a new manager comes in at the end of the season he has little time to really shape and impact the team.

One positive is that we need only pair down the team to improve it.

A lot of the poor performance is IMO a result of having too large a squad and no settled first 11/14…

The bones are there if we put our faith in a starting 11 and start building a team rather than using a squad as a conveyer belt to sell on..

  6. Just saw the Daily Record try to involve Celtic in the recent gangland murders in Dublin via revenge for Alan Ryan from the Real IRA to CIRA claiming responsibility (that no one, not even the Guards believe) to Anthony Stokes.

The game against EK is an absolute irrelevance.

In the Ross County game we played with 10 men for the majority of the game. A combination of the typical Efe error and MIB taking full advantage.

Aberdeen away is the most difficult game for us and they edged us.

There’s no doubt that Celtic have room for improvement. When a team is capable of putting pressure on us, we cannot defend set pieces. This has cost us some important results.

However, if you look past the hyperbole and stop focusing on the last couple of games you realize that this isn’t a time to panic.

    – Trebles are difficult to win. Effectively you need to go undefeated for 10 or so cup ties. That’s a big margin for error when you take into account the MIB’s.

    – We’ve only lost three games in the league. Two of those are at Pittodrie, where we won’t be going again this season.

    – Before the game at Pittodrie we were a point better off than we were last season. Now we are 2 points worse off. People forget that we won the league last year by 17 points with a total of 92.

What we need more than anything is consistency of selection over the rest of the season. Ronny needs to be left to coach the team and win things. I think that Sviatchenko and Kazim-Richards will improve the side and with a Commons & Mulgrew returning from injury we have more experience for the run in.

Agreed, like other clubs supporters are not happy and voice opinions, but there’s voicing an opinion, and there’s utter stupidity and unadulterated crap, it’s over the top, and it’s all the splinter groups Lackeys driving the bus, who come in here and spread there shyt.

Why should we humiliate them? They’re a new team to the SPFL set-up. Would you want to humiliate Spartans if they were ever to make it to the top league.

However, let’s say we do want to do that. And we beat them comprehensively twice at home, once away and they manage a plucky draw on the other occasion. 10 points in our favour. All the other teams though succumb to a combination of lying down and mibbery , and we similarly are done by the refs and drop points here or there.

Ultimately we win the league by only 5 points. Is this humiliation or not?

  17. Best angle / comment came from Alan Shearer on MOTD on Saturday when he was asked about the Liverpool fans walking out in the 77th min coz, they were being charged £77 to get into the game despite, the mega-wonga tv-deal, Shearer said that “Fans should be paying between £10 and £20 to get in – no more than that.

Now, Celtic’s next two home games v’s the highlanders, Ross County and, St Johnstone…£26 per seat for an adult ?

Just think about that…..£26 to sit on a plastic seat for 2 hours in freezing temperatures, watching a game were ther is hardly a Celtic level player in the team – Tierney apart.

John Brown said that Celtic are missing something ?

    He’s right.

    Their missing a heart.

That comes from the dugoot guy who brings in the players.

Ye see, Celtic don’t have the desire to put the huns away for good and, that failing begins at the top of the club and, trickles down.

It will continue this way until, the deid-huns come back and rip Celtic a new yin….then the fans will get it….and, hopefully….do what needs to be done.

Every manager in the country knows that Ronny hisny goat it.

They’ll be queuing up to take him down….it won’t be pretty but….whit can ye dae ?

As for the SMSM…..they know that Celtic FC / PLC are a rudderless-cojonesless ship being run by a board of punchbags who’s forte is – take Celtic fans money and…run.

It’s a scandal what’s went on at ibrokes but,….for me, it’s an even bigger scandal what’s going on at Celtic Park.

    So sad.

The zombies couldn’t beat Kilmarnock at home. They are absolutely skinto. This won’t be comparable to the Cardigan’s EBT/BoS funded teams.

We can only be the best Celtic we can be. Who cares whats happening in Govan? At this stage of the season, getting rid of Ronnie would be a mistake. He has what it takes to win the league and the Scottish cup.

We need to take a step back and think that we don’t win trebles every year and we don’t go seasons undefeated. Domestically, this isn’t going to be an awful season. Absolutely no reason to be hysterical (as some have) after 2 bad results.

Is Ronnie the guy to take us forward in the qualifiers? I don’t know and I’m glad we are going to review things in June.

However, we shouldn’t assume that Ronnie will forever fail in Europe just because we’ve been poor the last couple of seasons. I pointed out previously that Jurgen Klopp in his first two seasons in Europe was eliminated in the group stage of the EL and then finished bottom of his CL group. He followed that up with reaching the final of the CL. With the same squad.

There’s a prevalent attitude in football that if something has gone wrong a couple of times before, it’s 100% certain to go wrong again. If a team is struggling under a manager, he needs to go because there is no way they can fix it (Nigel Pearson proved that to be false)

We have/are in a position to ensure it, if we don’t, my feck, there will be a revolution amongst our support and it will be the board to blame.

Some have came on here and other Celtic sites trying to get that point across and been decried for mentioning a deid team, get real the feckers will be playing against us next season and glorifiying their return (in their shoogley eyes) and the knuckledraggers will be back with venom.

  24. sipsini on 9th February 2016 11:01 am

From the top of the club to the support we should be treating them like any other team promoted from the Championship to the Premiership and by that I mean same ticket allocations, not increasing the hype around these games – everything.

To do otherwise suggests they’re something that they’re not. It’s Old Firm-ism. They might buy into that. We shouldn’t. You want to humiliate them? That’s how you do it.

I really like Tierney but you’d need to add Griffiths in… Probably Erik ( Biton – I think I am a lone voice on him), and Brown as players worth paying to see.

I have hope for GMS and really want Christie and Alan to come through.

I would add Commins when he puts a shift in..

I think we have the bones but they are weighed down by many non Celtic standard players.

I was impressed by Findlay at Centre back for Killie against Newco and Liam Henderson is doing well at Hibs so some guys to call back.

If we are to add next season (assuming we get rid of a dozen or so )

I’d want a centre half and a centre forward.
