Beat Hapoel Beer-Sheva for Champions League football

822

Celtic will face Israelis Hapoel Beer-Sheva in the Champions League playoff round later this month, with the first leg due to take place at Celtic Park.

Hapoel, carrying a Uefa coefficient of 4, eliminated Olympiakos, coefficient: 70, in the last round – a bigger shock than Dundalk’s win over BATE.  They put on two backs-to-the-wall performances, drawing the first leg in Greece 0-0 before winning the return 1-0.  In the earlier round they shot the Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova, winning 3-2 in Israel before securing another 0-0 away.

The positives: the Israeli league hasn’t started yet, so Hapoel will be no further into their season’s preparations than Celtic.  It also looks like the play on grass.

In recent seasons Celtic have found new and innovative ways to bow out at this stage but we know what’s required and will be strong favourites to progress.

Bring it on.

  1. One last footnote today. Wasn’t it absolutely spiffing of Celtic to allow the Huns to have their flag day on the opening Saturday of the season. Wee Scotland pretends that the Huns are champions again. All back to normal in Scotland.

    Enjoy your racism.

It is,mate. AULDHEID is already aware of much of what has been written there and elsewhere. Hopefully M23 is too.

    And the others!

  4. Looking forward to game tomorrow and hopefully a season which includes Champions league football.Very rarely post about the situation with new Rangers but Celtic really have to make a statement of there is some sort of demonstration in going for 55. I have been a season ticket holder since they put seats in the jungle and had to endure defeats which has emerged to a club who were operating against the rules and has since died. For Celtic not to object to this blatant falsehood is disrespectful to its fanbase and ultimately letting them down. The truth is more important than the so called good of Scottish football

No mention of Whyte’s £15m unpaid tax bill, the “Wee Tax Case” of £2.8m,or that “Big Tax Case” ended in defeat for them as well?

    Naw?

    Well,I’m shocked…

  6. Good luck with that Maidenheadbhoy.

The board want your money and for you to be a victim of racism and cheating.

If you want o know how bad it is it has now emerged that the the police told Celtic to go easy and not hammer the Huns in case there was a pitch invasion. Hence we took our foot of the gas. More evidence of actual game rigging going on. Now we aren’t allowed to beat the Huns by too many in case they get upset. Why not go the whole hog and ban Celtic from scoring against them?

  7. My pleasure sadiesbhoy.

    Funny that eh Bobby?

Maybe PL and DD can buy us all t shirts to welcome back the Huns and their bid for 55?

We should lap it up, after all around 55,000 of us are buying into this nonsense.

Great level 5 posts, start with the kiddy on am no a Hun post, then rip inti the CFC, so obvious and predictable. Your the most anti Celtic poster on here IMO.

But! Post away all you like everyone’s onto you.

  9. Ah mr anti intellectual arrives to call me a Hun and a level 5 plant.

Oh I’m scared. Tony says everyone is onto me.mive been found out. I was planted here 11 years ago in anticipation of the formation of level 5 a year or so ago. We can time travel tony. How did you know?

Anyway I’ve been to the future and I’ve seen you celebrating the big 55 alongside Peter and dermot.

Daftie. Away and read yer “maws” daily record and enjoy your racism.

Anyway,I’ll be 55 before they achieve it,fuxake, that greetin’ wean next door will probably beat them to it.

  11. Hunderbirds are Gone on

The Celtic Board, for reasons unknown to me, have decided to make no meaningful statement on the status of the new club, or the cheating of the old club.

If the I-Broke hordes, on live television, make a big show of a Tifo proclaiming “going for fifty….whatever it is they are claiming” I would hope my club would feel that silence is no longer an option. Because it isn’t.

    Peter? PETER?…………. You lurking?

  12. Hunderbirds Peter is too busy counting his bonus money. He is up to 13 pieces of silver………

  13. And dear wee tony I one thing to watch out for. In the future you have to have a “tounguesectomy” because you put it in the wrong places.

Just a wee warning for you.

  14. Of course “thirty pieces of silver” was deemed an insultingly small amount of money so if Peter is only getting 13 then we are getting a bargain

  15. Neganon2

Am done wi you for the day neganon, your a Serenna Ninjany, and yes my Wee maw reads the Daily record every day, and the Sunday Mail, no surprise Yi stoop that low to bring in a Wee 90 year old woman into yer rant, your moral compass has no boundaries, but then again we awe new that.

  16. Neg2 @ interesting allegation

Regarding the 2015 SF against the TFOD2 — what is the story regarding the police request and how did it manage to get out, who printed it?

TFOD2 supporter highlighted to me that SB and their captain had a chinwag as they came off at half time and he speculated that “E”McC was suggesting that the game was over and that for the second half everybody should just go through the motions.

  17. Tony D

I normally agree with you on the negative posters however even you must be horrified at the outrageous unchecked bias in the media ( online, broadcast and in print ) which we are seeing.

A perspective or stance from celtic in some way might be encouraging to a support which has bought in to Brendan et al.

I think Brendan is playing it well. Chose the moment re the negative crowd impact on our team. But this was twisted if course to divide of support. Then yesterday he responded well to the Rangers are back crap …..

A bit of support from the club would help him. Like telling the BBC where to go !

  18. GORDON64 on 5TH AUGUST 2016 7:37 PM

When you walk through the turnstyles at CP you take your history, your politics and beliefs with you. That’s what makes us Celtic.

Indeed Gordon, that is what makes us Celtic.

    Good morning, CQNN

Just checked in to read about Celtic but see that the blog has descended into the deepest mire and invective so off to do something a lot more interesting and fulfilling.

  20. Awe wee tony. Don’t be like that. Calling me names n all. Your poor mammy wouldn’t like it. As for bringing your mammy into it I think you will find I am doubting that it’s your mammies record. But you can’t do subtlety wee tony can you?

Now run along and go and complain to Paul about me.

  21. The huddle he had only counted to 13 at that time (on his way to 30). This was on top of his extra super duper, over and above his contractual entitlement, Celtic bonus. So he isn’t that cheap.

    Lion,

Stopped reading after the demotion bit !

    Your loss

This section taken from article i linked, if you can find anywhere something akin to this in a Scottish MSM source by all means provide a link

Uefa has said it has no need to investigate further if the tax was in fact overdue according to its definition, because after that season, Rangers’ fate anyway equated to a sanction for breach of the rules: they could not play in European competition for the following three years. HMRC, taking a stern view of clubs defaulting on tax, declined to approve a company voluntary arrangement with creditors and Rangers went into liquidation. The assets bought via a new company, Sevco Scotland Limited, Rangers were not accepted into the SPL, and the SFL insisted the club had to start from the bottom, in the third division.

  23. Wee tony. I know I’m not important but you have previously run away and told Paul about me did didums. Have I become even less important now? Awe shame.

Now don’t get all angry and get yourself banned from the blog again. Is it a hat trick you are going for?

  24. Very nicely timed statement from Celtic which seems to have hit the mark on the day. SMSM and the establishment in their jaundiced, guilt ridden minds seeth at Celtic’s vast wealth, I hope Scott Sinclair is every bit as good as Brendan Rodgers clearly believes he is, and also that he goes straight into our side.

I’m not sure if BR meant four before or after Kolo Toure whatever we’re due to see the revolving door swing out a few times, with at least another two players coming in.

We need a central midfielder and another striker, for out next statement.

Every time you read ‘old firm’ think deception.

p.s. Free seat in the Northstand 10/09/16 by the halfway line to a CQN moniker

  25. Madmitch and starry the Scottish establishment haven’t formally let slip their instruction to Celtic that day but you get a big clue with regards to this paragraph in the report on the pitch invasion at the cup final

“A further match is worthy of mention although no pitch invasion took place. This was the Scottish League Cup Semi-Final between Celtic and Rangers held on the 1st of February 2015 at Hampden. On that occasion, the Police had specific intelligence that certain fans intended to invade the pitch in the event of a particular result. Because of that, Police Support Units were maintained in position in the practice area directly under the South Stand. In the event the no attempt was made to invade the pitch and the services of the Police reserve were not required.”

After all, one way to stop the Huns rioting is to make sure they always win. Makes sense in a Scottish sort of way.

  26. Burnley 78

I’v been around this planet for a lonngggg time, this negativity from the SMSM isn’t a new thing mate, if the CFC board had to complain about all the untruths from thems, we/ they would be playing into the MSM hands, lies is different on that they can be nailed, but most of it is just negativity they print, like that Hun neganon posts,, he will never be a Tim as long as I have a hole in my arse.

Agreed, it skirts around the edges of some subject matter that is completely off-limits in Scotland, but for me, still contains a lot of Level 5 input. Wooly at best!

That was a difficult read buddy. Very difficult situation, especially when young kids involved.

Domestic abuse in any form is deplorable and very difficult if possible to forgive and it sounds like your mum endured it for many years. Sometimes people do and can change wiith maturity. It might be that your dad has and it may be worth testing the waters and meeting him a few times to judge that for yourself however difficult it is for you and I’m sure it would be for your mum. Only you can judge if it’s in the interests of your kids to have a relationship with their Granda. There is likely nothing that he can say that will forgive history but their may be a way forward for him and your kids to enjoy some sort of contact if he has matured, changed his ways and more importantly is genuinely sorry and remorseful for any hurt caused to his family in the past.

    Might be worth considering.
