Bedwetters better wear a nappy

351

“We weren’t as sharp as we usually are. A lot of my players looked tired, too many of them simply weren’t in this game,” said the Celtic manager after a 0-0 draw with Hibs, a result that would allow Rangers to close the gap at the top of the table to one point.

The manager in question was Wim Jansen after a game in April 1998, the “Rangers” in question was Oldco, not Newco.

Yesterday’s Celtic performance was miles better than the one 24 years ago and yesterday’s Hibs were superior to the Hibs team relegated back then.  Those of us who were there, use it as a counterbalance when red lights appear to go off.  You can win a difficult league even when you cannot win important games.

Wim, in his first (and last) season at the club, remained calm, despite the alarming performances at the most crucial of times for Celtic.  He knew he needed to lead the players and the entire club through a difficult period.

I see parallels between Wim and Ange, their softly spoken demeanours, tactical insight and determination to keep all eyes on the prize.  Yesterday’s result and performance is not what the manager or anyone wants to see, but bedwetters better wear a nappy, we are in capable hands.

    My tuppenceworth regarding Big Jimmy …..consider this;

A poster who has been red carded and who has clearly defected to another blog (SC) , suddenly reappears with several posts apropos of nothing .

Looks very much to me like said poster did so with the sole intention of winding up Big Jimmy and unfortunately he fell for it .

Almost all red cards are deserved but in this case there are mitigating circumstances which I feel should be taken into account . It’s noteworthy that the said poster has not been back on CQN since ….. perhaps he feels his mission has been accomplished .

  2. Just reading back.

Surely time to step back and reconsider the exile of Big Jimmy, there are some total roasters ruining the blog with consistently trawling posts, these are much more negative than the odd outburst – we’ve all been there.

  3. Corkcelt- Thanks for the kind words.

I only went for some shopping a few times and ran a few errands fo the big man.

It wasnt a hardship and if I can help anyone I will.

The big man is a Gent and if anyone has been fortunate enough to be in his company they will tell you he just that good company.

It was/is a pleasure to help a fellow human being and the bonus is he is a Tim.

    Hail Hail

Ps Jimmy is overwhelmed by the support of you all.

Chumps can do one. Although he used a more stern term.

  4. Markiebhoy……………Obviously Hibs new manager, Sean Maloney ,watched the timewasting carry on of Bodo Glint in their games against Celtic and as a willing pupil adopted the same tactics allied to his packed defence and in fairness it worked a treat. Could this be what Calmac referred to in post match interview – new tactics.

Judging by the form of Newco and Celtic yesterday there is a drop in form post the hype of European fixtures and luckily we still retain that three points lead although the malaise has affected us in recent matches.

Pity Giorgos was unable to play yesterday methinks he would have scored from some of those crosses into the Hibs box.

Don`t worry. Shakespeare himself spelled his name in different ways :-))

  6. Re Big Jimmy.

I didn`t know he had been banned so don`t know if it was justified in terms of the Rules of the Blog. I do know, though, that Big Jimmy is a tremendously decent ,generous and considerate big guy with a heart of gold.I strongly believe that he should be invited back on. Paul 67 is also a very decent human being and if he reads some of these posts, I am certain he will invite Big Jimmy back on.

If you are still reading, Big Jimmy, all the very best.

  7. There are quite a few posters on here whose posts leave me feeling `Here is a guy I would get on with.` and I am sure I would . So, their responses regarding JHB leave me baffled. Am I missing something? What , for instance, is wrong with this post:

  8. Unsure why Big Jimmy has been sin binned. Impressed with those calling for judicial review and hope his time in the clink will be over soon.

However, some of these supportive posts have again let the posters down with the name calling and insulting language.

Are these words really going to persuade Paul to reconsider:

    Racist rent boys

    Merry band of trolls

    Rancid poster

    Upstart chumps (not too bad)

Go and throw sh#te at the moon

I’m not sure of the effectiveness of the arguments above.

    CQN is better than that

Any red card event should give all an opportunity to reflect and refine

Hopefully, this post doesn’t result in such insults coming my way, though one can never be sure

  9. I just re-read my own 5:49pm post. There are a helluva lot of `Big Jimmys` on there :-)))

Surely we can get at least ONE one of them back on here?

I wish we had someone now who could hit a freekick like big Andy. That’s a tall order as he was one of the best ever at taking them. He could bend them in without hardly taking any kind of runup. I remember him breaking through, a big skinny boy who looked the best of all the young ones we had. It wasn’t to be however, as I think Big Jock didn’t think he worked hard enough. I seem to recall him scoring for Morton against us one foggy night. Don’t think it was given or something else happened that night due to the weather (memory ain’t what it used to be😁).

  13. Hi Bhoys

Not on the blog as much these days. I missed what BIG JIMMY posted but I have a good idea what it was.

I have lapsed a little on here because of the inane posting from guys I wouldn’t give the time of day to.

I’ve been to a few of the organised days out and never met anyone there that I haven’t been happy in their company.

Is it just coincidence that the posters who get on my nerves never show up to these events. I don’t think so I think they don’t show up because in the words of a lovely guy they are CHUMPS.

Far be it for me to tell Paul how to run his blog but sorry to say you’ve made a large error of judgement here Paul. Just because people don’t use swear words in their post doesn’t meake their posts acceptable.

Change the red to a yellow.

    VIVA BIG JIMMY

    KEEPTHE FAITH

  14. I assume Big Jimmy has no access to read this, but if he were to change his moniker to something like “Park The Big Jimmy”, maybe he could get back on?

  15. ZIGGYDOC1

If the free kick you refer to was at Celtic Park I think the ref chopped it off for offside. My recolection was it was maybe 30 to 40 yards out he scored direct but another Morton player was standing offside in our penalty area maybe even the 6 yard box.

We’d be lucky to get £1 million for both GG & Maeda.

Neither have played enough games for you to make that claim.

    Give the lads a chance…

  17. This is from a mate of mine, who is a huge Tim, was a fine football player, and who occasionally lurks on here. I can’t see anything I disagree with in his comments.

“In terms of yesterday, and in fact the past 5-6 weeks, Ange doesn’t appear to have solved much. His new acquisitions – particularly in midfield – are as slow as the previous incumbents. That’s a concern if he thinks we don’t badly lack pace. Maeda isn’t made for our slow progression up the park – he needs quick balls from back to front into channels. Only our right back can occasionally hit that pass.

Yesterday, Hibs 2 x CBs were more comfortable on the ball than ours were. Their midfield was more dynamic and their front line worked hard to at least try and hold the ball up. By comparison we weren’t at the races in any of those facets. We conceded about 8 free kicks in the first 15 minutes yesterday all because we were on the back foot and late to the challenge. That’s from a bunch of guys who were rested midweek and should have been ready for the challenge.

I struggle to understand the clamour to pay 6 million for Carter Vickers when he is so cumbersome on the ball. Both of our CBs are and it doesn’t play into Ange-ball well at all.

A Hearts penalty miss, last minute goals against 2 Dundee teams and a decent 35 minutes against Sevco are all that separates from us being well behind. Meanwhile a horsing from a small time Norwegian team is quickly written off. “

  25. I am not going to plead for Big Jimmy to get back on because he NEEDS this blog.

This blog NEEDS Big Jimmy more than he needs us. Nobody NEEDS the current sharp swing to the right on CQN. There are only a few of the old guard left with the energy and motivation to resist what is happening and not to allow the fascists to take over.

Big Jimmy was insultingly patronised by a visitor from another blog, a guy who is comfortably placed and welcome on his preferred blog, but he chose to return here without apologising or even understanding the offence he had caused. There was no apology on his return and there was no preparation for it. Jimmy must have felt betrayed.

So, in summary. I want Jimmy back to help save CQN from its deterioration and give us a strong counterbalance to the racists.

I understand Paul takes a very liberal approach to most posters and its his blog but this blog will continue to die and diminish if you do not tackle the racist incursion that you have either ignored or , far worse, tolerated.

Save the blog!- Bring back the posters who are not racist
