Being formed by immigrants still has power to shock

1162

A club formed by the Irish immigrant population sends best wishes to Scotland and Ireland. Read all about it! It’s as though our heritage still has the power to shock. How timely the outrage came hours before Celtic launched their “We are Celtic – and we say No To Racism” initiative.  This morning Scott Brown reminded us, “Celtic has been a club open to all people since its formation in 1888”.  Stick to task, Celtic.

Congratulations to our former boss, Martin O’Neill, in getting the Irish to at least the knock-out round. Commiserations to our other former boss, Gordon Strachan. Gordon will be feeling sore right now but he should lick his wounds and stick to task. He got the better of Ireland on their head-to-head and came within a whisker of also getting the better of Poland. The loss in Georgia was typical Scotland – you cannot change everything in two years, while Ireland taking four points from six off Germany is inexplicable.

Gordon is by far the best man to take Scotland the World Cup 2018 qualifiers; get on with it.

  1. Superficially Celtic look like a grand old team. Have a look at our board ? An affront to Brother Walfrid. There are more Tories on our board than sit in the Scottish parliament.

  2. I only ever saw The Stranglers when Hugh was still there. One of the guys at work pointed out to me that the current singer has been in the band longer than Hugh was. Never seen him. Heard he’s good. But it’s just not for me. The Stranglers were my band in the 70’s/80’s. After Hugh left it just didn’t seem the same band. I’m sure they;re still great entertainment.

  3. It’s a strange thing. You have this growing feeling that CQN is no longer for you, it’s run its course and increasingly is populated by rockets, Huns and trolls. And then you meet up with a crowd of them and you’re reminded that it’s actually a fantastic place populated by fantastic guys.

The rockets, huns and trolls will always be here but ultimately they’ll always lose.

Anyone else having the same trouble I am reading Cqn on phone? Every time I open it I’m taken to pop up adverts and App Store. I know changes have been made for commercial reasons and have no issue at all with that but it’s made the site completely unusable. This has happened on KDS as well so maybe it’s a problem with my phone…

There are far too many positives on this blog for the negatives to rule, you and the good lady have a great holiday…. I am still a newcomer, sure I was even called a Hootenaay virgin, but amongst many highlights today (Philbhoy & Clogher for differing reasons) was when Cosey Corner Bhoy “accosted” me to meet BMCUW…. How amazing is the father and son relationship bringing together loads of good Celtic fans, as Leftclicktick reiterated some have met more than me, but I have yet to meet a bad Cqner !

Thank you sir. Anyone who knows me from here knows my love for Celtic.

It’s funny I read TonyD’s post earlier about how he was brought up around people who never criticised anything to do with Celtic.

    I was the same.

My da would never hear a bad word said against the club. However, he did get to a stage where he did understand that I and others like me were only critical because we wanted the best for Celtic and Celtic supporters.

I was blessed that he too was a rebel but recognised my beliefs.

  10. Bug Vurj only 5 seconds away from a clean-sheet international debut voor die Niederlaender. Still won 2-1. Still need Czechs to beat the Turks tonight though to have any hope of a play-off place.

  11. Anyone who does not criticize inadequacy is an imbecile. There are far too many amongst us willing to say dross is good just because they wear the hoops.

Your posts from the other side of the world are a joy, as MacJay said today being in Australia Cqn is his Celtic pub,, I don’t attend Celtic Park and am only 10miles away, family life demands more than Celtic but Cqn is my (our) Celtic chat, I attended my first Hootenaay today and felt like a lottery winner, very, very good people

You keep on doing what you are doing, and by the way I bet a lot of us posters are more jealous about you and you barbecues when we are going to work in the peeing rain

    Hail Hail Michael
