Belgians premature

1296

The Belgian league put the cat amongst the waffles yesterday by declaring the Jupiler League over and Bruges champions.  They sorted out their TV and other commercial arrangements and can start next season as soon as it is safe to do so.

There are very few calls to cut seasons short.  Tight leagues, such as in Italy and Spain, would forever  have questions hanging over them, while those assured of winning the title, as in Scotland and England, want to do so on the field, not at a league meeting.  Still, it was nice to see panic among the Null and Voiders, who would rather everyone lost than anyone (Celtic) won.

The Belgians have been pragmatic but premature, football is finished for the season, their champions are assured without controversy and they will accommodate those threatened with relegation.  The rest of Europe still clings to the hope that competition can start behind closed doors in the summer.  It will next month before we know if this is possible, there is no reason to make decisions before then.

Shocking news re your two pals. Condolences to you and especially to the families.

Spoke to OldTim67 yesterday, as did AT. Six hours in the garden yesterday!

Probably a few more today given the weather. Not a cure, but the vitamin D wont do any harm.

    Well thank you .

Restores my faith that at least some of our number are capable of a civilised response and are able to disagree politely without feeling the need to resort to the language of the gutter .

    Hail Hail to you .

MON tried to get a new keeper when he signed Magnus Hedman after Seville.

I was really pleased at the time as he’d done very well for Sweden in WC 2002 and obviously Larsson and Mjallby would have spoken in his favour.

There’s a few like him who were big names but totally underwhelming when they came to Celtic –

Juninho, Gravesen, Martin Hayes, Stuart Slater, Gary Gillespie, Ljungberg etc etc

I didn’t watch the Scottish Cup final on BBC Scotland tonight.

Everyone knows that Rangers lost every game they played 0 3 during that period and for a few years thereafter.

No point in wasting my time.

CELTIC MAC on 5TH APRIL 2020 9:00 PM

I wonder how many would apply to big Jock .

I`m sure you understand that I was talking about perception. Not reality .

A perception which prevents many good Scottish people from supporting Celtic.

    I don`t blame them.

Celtic .Open to all. Theoretically .

Not sadly on a CQN .

    The lockdown song.

After myself getting Billy Connolly Divorce, I asked my wife should I check hers, it was Another Brick in The Wall. Pink Floyd.

Quite apt, for lockdown, the second song, that is. :-)

I didn`t need time to think about it.

Then was not the time .

The huge popularity and respect for the Queen in UK is overwhelming and , imho , undeniable .

  12. Rumour that sevco and the edin huns are threatening to take the league to court over them ending the season next week!!..

A take it that’ll be on a no win no fee basis!!!…

  13. Today being Palm Sunday I noticed a few of the faithful were watching a link to Mass. Our priest up here from St Sylvester’s in Elgin, though we attend St Margaret’s in Forres where he visits, has created a phone in room where we celebrate Mass. I find this a better medium than watching a live feed as we tend to have a bit of interaction during the service.

As regards my lockdown/quarantine song which was number one on my 12th birthday in 1967, may I add, then I think I win hands down.😉

  14. Phil Mac hinting tonight that Sevco have not availed of furlough as yet because they’ve some outstanding issues with HMRC that need resolved.

The silence out of ibrox really should have journalists asking some questions.

Of course if they do owe HMRC money then that’s Europa league football gone for next season.

I suspect a major down scaling will be under way shortly at Newco.

smiley nothing to do with him falling over whilst cracking one off to Margaret Thatcher shaking hands with the Queen….and and unfortunately landing on an empty bottle of Creme de menthe which lodged in his rectum thing

  16. Macjay1 thanks for your response, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect yours. After the speech tonight there are undoubtltly more pro Queen suporters/sympithisers sp but not for me. Good talking H H Hebcelt

  17. As much as I think BoJo is a lazy, lying, work shy buffoon I do not wish him anything but recovery from COVID-19, as I would any other human being. He is a polar opposite of all I believe in but he is in need of my prayers like everybody else who is infected by this virus.

News reports say he has been admitted for tests, he’s already had the test and it was positive there are no other tests unless it involves testing for pneumonia.

  18. My sister raised an important question which I am not aware of getting any news coverage whatsoever:

With all these companies going bust and shareholders desperate to unload to anyone who is buying…. just who is buying, who is going to be in control of all these agencies on which so much of the economy depends? In this time of crisis, are we handing our future over to organised crime and corrupt regimes as they gobble up vast amounts of shares on the cheap?

And good talking to you .

    Hail Hail.

  20. Sorry will be taking a wee break from the discussions,as I only came on here originally to talk about Celtic.I know this virus has curtailed our football, but ,really,”What school, what teacher, what year”,might be interesting to those involved, but to the onlooker,BORING.Sorry if this upsets you, but, true. There is still much to talk about in the football world,,especially Celtic,,but not the case for many it seems.

Anyway, enjoy your chatter, see you when the football starts. As if anyone cares.not in the clique,or religious nutters,so ,probably,no one will.

Anyway stay safe, isolate, and take care.As Petec would say”Jehovah will leave us all”.
