Bet your novelty duck there are lessons to be learned

1033

Celtic probably anticipated the three match suspension Uefa imposed on Scott Brown following his red card for an off the ball incident against Barcelona, if they didn’t, they should have.  That’s not to say the decision is not “harsh”, as the club described it, as far as off the ball incidents go, this was a lesser offence, but it was a red card awarded for an off the ball incident nonetheless.

Are there lessons to be learned?  You can bet your novelty Celtic duck on it.

No more on this, or injuries, until late next week.  Absolute focus is required on the task ahead.  Ajax will arrive in town on Monday low on confidence, let’s take them.

A CQN’er has kindly donated two tickets for Tuesday’s game at Celtic Park against Ajax for the 1254125 appeal.  You can bid for them by silent auction by emailing your bid to ajax@celticquicknews.co.uk.

Please include telephone contact details.  Auction will close at 19:00 on Sunday.  The winning bidder will be notified on Sunday evening, tickets need to be paid for directly to the 1254125 MyDonate campaign before 12:00 on Monday or the tickets will be offered to an alternative bidder.

Many thanks for participating.

  4. Roy Hodgson used the word monkey to refer to a simian. An actual monkey. It wasn’t used in any context or as an allegory or a metaphor. It was a genuine monkey.

No one at the time saw any offence. Only those trying to make mischief see this as any type of issue at all.

The society of black lawyers have put in a complaint. That is what the chairman Peter Herbert from the aforementioned group stated. Putting in a complaint is judgemental. It deflects from genuine racism.

There’s a sizable black population in england and many black footballers.

Have different vehicles around the pitch between the grass and where the stands are. Fans can pay extra to sit in cars and watch the game for the live experience. Audio of RTV coming from the stereos. Have blue corsas, dukes of hazzard cars even del boy 3 wheel van for some fun and even a tank to represent our soldiers. Imagine watching the game in a tank. Like that wacky races character serg. Can fire some balloons at half time into the crowd. Charge 50-150 a ticket depending on the car you choose. 3 guys in the back of the dukes of hazzard car doing the bouncy as it flips up.

I see the football crowds in england on tv every week.

Yes there are a smattering of non-white faces in the crowd in some clubs but no where near beingno representive of the local population, like say in say Tottenham ,Arsenal,Villa, Leeds,Liverpool etc ect. If your on the streets in the neighborhood of these grounds black faces are in the maybe even in the majority. Racisim is just below the surface in english football and maybe here too. Loads of black players but very few managers and coaches. Do you see a pattern emerging.

No one is denying there is still racism in football.

Stop moving the goalposts. The Roy Hodgson issue is NOT an example of racism.

Let’s move on and yes why are there not more “black” managers and I high positions in the FA????

    Institutional racism.

  22. Please don’t take offence, but why is the daily mail the most linked paper on the blog? And here is the potential offence (though it is meant in all seriousness); are some bloggers being paid to direct traffic to the daily mail website?

You are in danger of undermining your blog name.

Who ever believes that constant carping and criticism of your loved ones, whether that be your wife, children, parents, brothers, sisters, community or football club, is a way to improve them, is a self indulgent boor.

If I want my kids to improve or my wife to continue to care, I have to nurture and display the same characteristics I want to receive for myself.

The “I only criticise because I want them to be better” mantra is self-serving and dishonest, two characteristics that helped Gerry reach the bottom of his profession.
