Bigger questions loom than reconstruction

1092

We now know that Craig Whyte met Neil Doncaster and Ralph Topping, directors of the SPL, in London in October 2011 and informed them of the likelihood that Rangers would go into liquidation.  Whyte’s plan, to start a Newco and have it parachuted into top flight football was only taken seriously as a result of these three having a head start on everyone else and doing some preparatory work.

Charles Green has no such plans.  If he loses Ibrox, becomes embroiled in IPO-related troubles or fails to bridge the gap between money-in and money-out, an unplanned liquidation could follow with a potentially protracted period where physical assets are moribund and playing assets and other staff are released.

The SPL and SFL would do well to consider ‘what next?’ when they hold separate meetings next week.  The century-old ways are gone, things will never be the same again.

I’m really pleased the aforementioned Charlie issued an apology for his offending comments, even if he did so under duress from the SFA.  This kind of rhetoric has taken control within football in some European countries.  Once the door is open it is hard to close it again.

Glasgow Labour council is the only branch of Govt to attempt to limit the amount of Oramge marches we are constantly criticized by the OO and they come to our surgeries in organised groups to lobby us it is them that are openly telling us they will form a new party with the SDL/BNP pray on people’s prejudices about minority communities including the biggest minority Irish Catholics.

We in Labour have done our bit it is now for our parties to stand up, people in my party have had to get Police protection against the OO making threats and intimidating them, I personally ahve had to warn my family on the morning of leaving for a committee in the chambers that I was re-routing an OO march and the Police warned me to expect trouble at my home, they have never worried me i have stood up to them the OO all my life but I do worry as I have a wife and young family.

Live in my shoes before you throw accusations about me

I’ll be up for that, it’ll be good to get back to the games regularly after having to forgo having a season book the past three years.

I will hopefully get a seat for my bhoy and myself in the north stand lower.

  5. Che, tag yourself on the Facebook photos, could post a few on the CQN Magazine.

Then more people could get to know the faces. Not tonight though.

Sipsini, if you are on Facebook, I am friends with TBJ on there, send a friends request.

The names on the posts here used to take you to FB or twitter, that was a good feature.

The “opinion” came from a Glasgow man now living in Lurgan. He is a good friend of a CQNer who was with us and arranged to meet in that pub as I had seen it on a webcam years ago and wanted to visit. We were in it on St Patrick`s Day and green, white and orange was everywhere; the atmosphere was brilliant and the real ale was superb.

So, was he talking nonsense in saying that Catholics and Protestants in N. Ireland lead, in the main, separate lives?

That answers a couple of points of what I asked.

However joining Europe, which the UK is already in and joining the Euro zone are 2 completely different arguments.

Before Scotland’s 2 clearing banks went bust the UK also had one of their own go bust which I believe no longer exists and the UK govt allowed one of our clearing banks to purchase (if memory serves me right).

Are you not confident that a true socialist Labour Party in power in an Independant Scotland could not run our country? If not I believe that is a sad reflection on our nation!

BTW. I’m still undecided! If there was an SNP Tim councillor on here (I know) they’d also get the 13th degree!

The accusation of corruption when Alex Salmond has pals like Rupert Murdoch, David Murray, Brian Soutar and Donald Trump before he failed to toe the line. I am sure AS would not accept anything form those upstanding citizens

  12. Jungle Jim, I have very close friends in Lurgan and what they have told me particularly about Lurgan would support your friends view.

Events of the last year have just hit me again

  15. Hamiltontim @21:09 Findlay and McCann on FAC only saw fit to publish their own speeches. Obviously very impressed with themselves. And why not? It was their rally.

In terms of rabble rousing I can assure you there is no danger of that in any of the Soviet style 5 yr plans produced all over Africa, Asia and Europe.

There is nothing clouding my judgment.

It was after reading the speeches I investigated their background because they reminded me of the pro-Scargill dullards of the 80’s

Perhaps HT you’d like to comment on what I am saying and not on who I am or whatever prejudices you might wish to impute to me.

I didn’t accuse you of anything.

You keep highlighting history from the 30’s

I merely asked why Unionist Labour, having the opportunity on more than one occasion at various levels of government not do something about the OO.

Was it not the deregulating of the banks introduced by Unionist parties that led to the banks being in such a mess? Only asking.

I think when the indyref nonsence is done I believe their will be an opportunity for a broad left coalition on the Left to fight for a fairer UK I am an international socialist that has more in common with working people in Newcastle, Liverpool, Paris and Madrid, sometimes more in common than with some Scots in this country.

I think we should forget about false borders in Scotland when there is a big world out there with a lot of injustice i also think the Trade Unions have to take a bogger role in the Labour party as we in the unions have let them steal our Party and we need to take it back.

sorry if I miss some of the points out I am trying to answer a few people at the one time and not the quickest of typers
