Bigger questions loom than reconstruction

1092

We now know that Craig Whyte met Neil Doncaster and Ralph Topping, directors of the SPL, in London in October 2011 and informed them of the likelihood that Rangers would go into liquidation.  Whyte’s plan, to start a Newco and have it parachuted into top flight football was only taken seriously as a result of these three having a head start on everyone else and doing some preparatory work.

Charles Green has no such plans.  If he loses Ibrox, becomes embroiled in IPO-related troubles or fails to bridge the gap between money-in and money-out, an unplanned liquidation could follow with a potentially protracted period where physical assets are moribund and playing assets and other staff are released.

The SPL and SFL would do well to consider ‘what next?’ when they hold separate meetings next week.  The century-old ways are gone, things will never be the same again.

I’m really pleased the aforementioned Charlie issued an apology for his offending comments, even if he did so under duress from the SFA.  This kind of rhetoric has taken control within football in some European countries.  Once the door is open it is hard to close it again.

Doc – ha, you’re right! The wee man’s a veteran of three games, but it was my 5 year-old god-daughter’s first game. Think she enjoyed the CW banner stuff more than the game!!

Looks like the Whitespurs took the tie to a hyper overtime phase. A death strike showdown is on the cards guys! #soccer

  4. Doc is Neil Lennon @21:40 Salmond wants to keep it in the country. He seems to think the “superiority of Scots Law” extends to anything passed in Scotland, by him a Scotsman.

When I say Scottish criminal lawyers need a shake, I mean prosecutors, judges and defence.

    Pfayr @ 21:45 couldn’t agree more.

  5. I have some photos of “the red haired guy” but I don’t know how to post them. Sent them to Paul67 a few days ago, think he forwarded them to FOCUS!

Thank God ‘supporters’ like you are few and far between or we may not have a club to support.

Have you done anything to show support for you fellow fans(*no laughing at the back) in this instance?

Your passive negativity does nothing for anyone and makes you come across as a bitter little man. Not sure what about-only you can answer that.

Could we in Sconny Bottland replicate independence American style

They kicked them out because they despised the British empire and the discriminatory and racist practices as well as their pleasure at ruling with the iron fist

I fear not as the SNP clearly have discriminatory policies and rule with the iron fist!!!

Not getting my vote as it would be foolish to support FAC and then tick the box of the aggressor

And for that reason I’m out!

  8. T4, seldom wrong on these matters!

ntassoolla, it will be interesting to see how this plays out now opposition politicians are involved and constituents are getting in touch with them.

All parties in Scotland are scared of the OO including mine the OO often coming knocking on your door late at night with threats, they can be a scary bunch and the big parties are scared of them I am happy to stand up to them and take the consequences that is why Labour did something in Glasgow, they dont like it.

I had 4 representatives at my last surgery from the local OO, I have had all sorts of abuse on social media for standing up for the GB, 1 man from my area phoned my office he never lefy his address and threatened me and my family for my press comments on the GB.

That is what you get when you stand up against them I am very popular on fascist fascist and with Chris Graham this is why the Parties dont stand up to them

Barca in the semis of UCL. Benfica in the semis of the Europa League. what an achievement for us to get through that group.

That is part of the problem. We have a Labour Party campaigning on a platform that they could not govern an Independent Scotland. What kind of message is that to send out?

Hamiltontim @21:09 Findlay and McCann on FAC only saw fit to publish their own speeches. Obviously very impressed with themselves. And why not? It was their rally.

In terms of rabble rousing I can assure you there is no danger of that in any of the Soviet style 5 yr plans produced all over Africa, Asia and Europe.

There is nothing clouding my judgment.

It was after reading the speeches I investigated their background because they reminded me of the pro-Scargill dullards of the 80′s

Perhaps HT you’d like to comment on what I am saying and not on who I am or whatever prejudices you might wish to impute to me.

    ——–

You see there’s the difference. You felt the need to ‘investigate’ Celtic supporters after speeches they make about Celtic supporters to Celtic supporters.

You and Ernie Lynch constant historic jibes only enhance the view that Labour will never change.

Labour’s record in Scotland resulted in 3 million Scots leaving the country.

That tells me all I need to know.

  23. Don’t watch a lot of English Football these days but have watched the Newcastle v Benfica Europa Cup tie home and away.

Main reason checking Celtics performances who lets face it were second best to the Portugese twice.

Now NU had a 20min patch in Lisbon in which they scored a goal and could have nicked another, still Benfica were by far the best side and good value for their 3:1.

This evening Newcastle made a good fist of it, could have nicked it but were outclassed in the end.

Benfica’s last gasp goal could have been from any era and for me had a touch of the sixties about it.

    Anyways…

To my point, if an English Team had been put Benfica out of the CL it would have been mentioned a dozen times over the two legs.

Didn’t hear Celtic mentioned once, well until the end of the game.

    Paraphrasing…

And Benfica go through, they lost their place in the Champions League to Celtic but have been great in this competition since the new year.

Turned over to ITV and they state that NU had gone out to a last minute goal to Benfica…

    No

    Newcastle 1(2) Benfica 1(4)
