Boycott call as Celtic fans money promised to re-establish Rangers

1670

The Gang of 10 SPL club who will meet next week will decide whether or not we have a morally sound and ethically administered league. The meeting wasn’t announced three hours before overtures were being made on terms a Rangers Newco would be prepared to agree to in order to win their backing.

Effectively, the other 10 will asked to hold their noses, put all moral judgement aside and tell Rangers Newco the terms they need to agree to in order to get back into the SPL, retain their history and limit consequences of the alleged improper registration of players. Some of those hoping to front a Rangers Newco are prepared to do whatever is necessary to get back on a level playing field with those who have spent the last 20 years playing honest football and paying their taxes.

The question to be considered is not just what is ethically right in sport; it’s more personal than that. This is about what is going to happen to your money, the football club that defines who you are, and your relationship with the game for the rest of your life.

The schemers and cheats are not beaten and they are not going to give up. There is no honour, no ‘dignity’, no moral compass that understands there are consequences for decades of rampant abuse. All there is, is a sense of entitlement that I struggle to comprehend.

That sense of entitlement is about to promise bucket loads of your cash to someone else in order to restore the old certainties. This time, they are not even going to use the tax man’s money, they are going to use YOUR money. The money you put into the game will be distributed and used to flush the smaller clubs, who will in turn restore Rangers to their position of ascendency.

This is not sport, it’s a disgusting abuse of Celtic fans. You are not even being asked, you are being expected to open your wallets and pay whatever price it takes to put Rangers back on top.

I have never called for a boycott of a newspaper, never mind a football game, but this is not football anymore. We cannot be party to this. It is not a passing-issue either. Rules are being made with consequences that could last 100 years.

You have suffered from decades of malpractice and have earned the right to go to Ibrox in two weeks to enjoy the reflection of honest endeavour. After this, our next away game will be at Kilmarnock. If the Gang of 10 attempt an insurrection using your money, join me in a picket outside Celtic Park when these tickets are available for sale, and outside the away gates at Rugby Park on game day, to explain to Celtic fans the consequences of supporting the clubs who would use your money to establish a new Rangers.

Unite and bring the full power of Celtic against those who would rather do a deal with the devil than establish an honest, even, playing field.

If the Gang of 10 give Rangers Newco their way, using your money, we cannot go back to an away game, not this season, not ever. We must demand this discipline from each other and insist the club refuse all away tickets.

Having paid our taxes, registered footballers in an honest manner and brought international acclaim to Scottish football, the Celtic Movement is being corrupted by the lowest common denominator.

Our magnificent sporting institution is being destroyed. For the love of all that is decent and meritocratic in the game, we need help from England, Europe or wherever to move out of Scottish football.

I am just about finished with the entire, corrupt, shambles that masquerades as a sport.

Issue six of CQN Magazine….. has sold out! None left, sorry.

  1. I don’t go to away games. I know there’s many on here who do – HT, WG etc etc

I don’t think I’d feel right asking or telling anyone not to support our club.

But, if there is to be something like this then we should let it grow organically.

No threats or blackmail to other clubs – they’ve already made their minds up.

A bhoycott should just become a fact not a threat.

Just an act. A withdrawal of labour so to speak. People deciding not to go – but not falling out with anyone who might still choose to go.

Let our club organise beambacks if allowed.

All the obfuscation regarding Whyte needs to be put to bed – there needs to be a concerted effort to plant the belief that Rangers as a club cheated other SPL members out of trophies, prestige and income through finacially doping the league.

But it looks as if the deals will be done long before any investigations are concluded. Like Bill Hicks said – Go back to sleep, nothing to see here Scotland, fabric of society, go back to sleep Scotland…

Do the 10 that make up the parcel of rogues really think they’re holding all the cards?

That’s the truly saddening thing – they’re orchestrating and conducting a voluntary vote towards mediocrity. To maintaining mediocrity. To making mediocrity an aspiration.

It’s as if getting to choose the stick you get beaten with will make the beating any less degrading or its intent any less violent.

Ourselves alone. Was. Is. Will be.

  2. Today I get the impression that something I have preached for months here is beginning to sink in. That is come hell or high water, THEY will be in the SPL next season. And as I posted yesterday, heaven and earth will be moved to ensure that THEY play in Europe next season.

We should be encouraging all SPL fans to boycott the grounds of any clubs that sell their soul.

  4. From the Sun (I know, I know):

RANGERS were thrown a dramatic lifeline last night as it was revealed the taxman WILL do a deal with the stricken giants.

But the crisis-hit club were warned their £49million battle with HMRC and the £9million bill for unpaid VAT and PAYE will only be resolved if owner Craig Whyte gets the boot.

The Scottish Sun can reveal a compromise deal — sanctioned at Treasury level — is within reach which could see the fallen giants pay back as little as TEN PENCE in the pound.

That would mean instead of paying a whopping £49million penalty, Gers could get off with forking out a paltry £4.9million.

But the negotiations hinge on new owners replacing shamed Whyte — and a company voluntary agreement in place with creditors.

Last night Duff and Phelps joint administrator Paul Clark insisted: “HMRC have said to me that they do not want Rangers to fail.

“There will be negotiations between ourselves, any new buyer and HMRC as to what that percentage will be. Assuming the company goes for a CVA there will be some form of deal done.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that the BTC was being negotiated on exclusively by MIH and that RFC / RFCIA were prohibited from speaking to HMRC about the BTC. Surely D&P would be similarly barred from attempting to negotiate with HMRC?

I’ve got brain ache with this whole thing!

I would be gob smacked if they get permission to play in the SPL next season as they have still to provide accounts from last year to get their licence and this needs to be done by the 31st, or are they ripping up the rule books completely?

  10. Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has sympathy for his Rangers counterpart Ally McCoist.

Despite being a lifelong Celtic fan, he nevertheless feels for the Hoops’ rivals, Rangers, as the club battles to survive as a going concern.

“I grew up in Glasgow,” he said. “I am Celtic through and through and always will be.

“But I am a huge admirer of Rangers. I was always well treated when I went there as a player and Ally McCoist is a pal of mine.

“I feel for him. I look with dismay at how they got to that situation.

“You go anywhere in the world and people know Rangers. I am sure that will be the case again, as horrible as this present situation is.

The sh**storm that will ensue regards the 10 making any deal on the title robbers getting a free back into the spl is what happens when the SFA/SPL start bending the rules to accommodate cheaters and swindlers .

If the SFA/SPL had made it clear that the rules would be applied equally to all member clubs right at the start of this debacle then the ragers fans would have just had to come to terms with it ,by twisting and turning at every obstacle and diluting the integrity of Scottish football they have created a situation were celtic fans or ragers fans will decide to boycott the away grounds of spl clubs who are seen to not back their teams stance .

Are we to believe that they did not see this coming or do they think that we will not go through with it (I say we as the SFA/SPL comments do not seem to be in line with our views)

I agree with Paul a boycott has to be done and it has to be across the board .IMO it is the only option opened to us as a support as it looks like we are on our own .

Personally I would go along with the idea of many us a members club like Barca

I would happily pay my £500 pa as long as I got a ST that worked out about a £1 per game

That way we could give these robbers £25K per game

Obviously non memebers would be charged say £50 per ticket

CFC fans who are unable to pay for full membership could perhaps pay say £10 a year and be allowed the chance to buy individual match tickets at a reduced price say £15-20

A boycott would need to be very well planned, universally approved by all the fans organizations, supporters clubs etc, for it to be effective.

However even if we could get that form of organization in place, I believe it would still be counter-productive. The MSM would seize on it and portray us as vindictive and petty. Plus, the team is still expected to play on the park, without their own support?

I would rather we curry favour with other teams in the SPL and their support, rather than royally p*ss them off. It seems to me there are a lot of non-Celtic fans out there that would not be happy with Newcos admission, we need to (Somehow-don’t know how) start lobbying the other teams, and their supporters.

This call for boycott looks to me like ‘hitting them back first’. We should at least wait until they declare their intent.

I take it that, to us, not everything is ticketyboo with the ticketus tampering today?

  22. Lads Neil said last year he wouldn’t be up for a boycott but that was because we were chasing a league title.

This years title is in the bag and our manager will understand why we are doing it.

This is what separates us from them, we are the best fans in the world and if we see someone do wrong then we go for the jugular because we know it’s wrong whereas they dont.

Let’s show to the world why we’re doing it, we are a proud club who abide by the rules and let’s embarrass these morons and show the whole world why the Celtic fans are different from the rest.

  23. As regards away day bhoycotts, there are a group of “Celtic” fans who only go to away games citing that they would not give our present board the money. I have met one or two of these eejits and for some reason, that escapes me, they always seem to be able to get tickets for away European games!

  24. Quigleyspoint on

I have said all along this wonderful path that the huns have found themselves in, that we, as Celtic supporters should bury them in whatever way possible. I dont care if we never have a celtic v rangers game again in my lifetime, I have seen enough of them and I want to see them buried. I also want to see that people who cheat, are punished, and the first thing that springs to my mind is to hurt these people financially. I have also said that we should bHoycott Ibrox on the 25th as all we are doing is giving them hard earned cash!!!!! and giving them a cheque for £300k to keep them going another week. It would be a mighty occasion if no celtic fans turned up and the whole world would take notice of why we are doing it. Also we could celebrate the league championship the following week at Parkhead comfortable in the knowledge that we have not contributed to the EE. As for the future and what peoples perceptions are towards our greatest rivals, I dont know, but I personally would love to see them buried, out of the way, no more 140 yrs bigotry, no more of their sectarian hatred, anti Irish hatred, ( of which they are part of), and their Establishment, which in their hour of need is nowhere to be seen, be eradicated from our lives.

  25. I recommend we all ignore MSM..they want to push mis-information in order to disguise the facts: rankers(ia) are fecked and hav fecked the game for the rest of us.its all designed to create a fog to hide the truth. the fog will lift soon and all will be revealed.

    1 Vote

In a move backed by the Treasury, a government source today announced that the taxpayer will fund a stadium made of gold (complete with hover-pitch) for Celtic Football Club.

See- I can do it too. I can publish fabricated nonsense. Can someone now send me an NUJ card?

It is a confusing business following events surrounding Rangers these days. Depending upon the agenda of the day, we are treated to stories designed to either terrify players into accepting reduced terms or to build confidence in ticket buyers or prospective investors.

The story this week that the Treasury is supporting writing off all of Rangers’ debts to allow a CVA to go through shows that a nauseating mixture of naivety and cynicism is still pumping through the hearts of the Scottish media. Are they really so stupid to believe the same individuals who briefed them on behalf of Whyte? Those same people are still employed by Rangers but are now fabricating on behalf of their new bosses.

(How many “HMRC about to do a deal” stories have we heard from the media in the last year?)

An actual source close to the facts of this story described the latest wave of claims of about a Treasury sanctioned deal as “utter bollocks”.

There is no process for or history of the Treasury involving itself in this type of discussion. Of course, the people who invented this story know that HMRC cannot comment. So, they hope to do a “Dave King” and make all sorts of false claims about deals with the taxman in the belief that the stories will go unchallenged and eventually accepted as fact.

Quite what HMRC will do after the FTT returns a result is anyone’s guess. My guess is that after mishandling deals with Goldman Sachs and Vodaphone, they will want to demonstrate that all tax bills must be paid- end of story.

They might offer time to pay (which is of no use to Rangers as the amounts are unpayable on any time scale), but that they will want the tax paid in full.

However, the idea that anyone is discussing a deal- and with the Treasury no less- for a bill that has not been legally determined yet, of an unknown amount- is just stupid.

Any journalist who accepted the word of a PR company, especially one that has been proven wrong in almost its every utterance about this subject, without seeing documentary evidence is an idiot.
