Boycott call as Celtic fans money promised to re-establish Rangers

1670

The Gang of 10 SPL club who will meet next week will decide whether or not we have a morally sound and ethically administered league. The meeting wasn’t announced three hours before overtures were being made on terms a Rangers Newco would be prepared to agree to in order to win their backing.

Effectively, the other 10 will asked to hold their noses, put all moral judgement aside and tell Rangers Newco the terms they need to agree to in order to get back into the SPL, retain their history and limit consequences of the alleged improper registration of players. Some of those hoping to front a Rangers Newco are prepared to do whatever is necessary to get back on a level playing field with those who have spent the last 20 years playing honest football and paying their taxes.

The question to be considered is not just what is ethically right in sport; it’s more personal than that. This is about what is going to happen to your money, the football club that defines who you are, and your relationship with the game for the rest of your life.

The schemers and cheats are not beaten and they are not going to give up. There is no honour, no ‘dignity’, no moral compass that understands there are consequences for decades of rampant abuse. All there is, is a sense of entitlement that I struggle to comprehend.

That sense of entitlement is about to promise bucket loads of your cash to someone else in order to restore the old certainties. This time, they are not even going to use the tax man’s money, they are going to use YOUR money. The money you put into the game will be distributed and used to flush the smaller clubs, who will in turn restore Rangers to their position of ascendency.

This is not sport, it’s a disgusting abuse of Celtic fans. You are not even being asked, you are being expected to open your wallets and pay whatever price it takes to put Rangers back on top.

I have never called for a boycott of a newspaper, never mind a football game, but this is not football anymore. We cannot be party to this. It is not a passing-issue either. Rules are being made with consequences that could last 100 years.

You have suffered from decades of malpractice and have earned the right to go to Ibrox in two weeks to enjoy the reflection of honest endeavour. After this, our next away game will be at Kilmarnock. If the Gang of 10 attempt an insurrection using your money, join me in a picket outside Celtic Park when these tickets are available for sale, and outside the away gates at Rugby Park on game day, to explain to Celtic fans the consequences of supporting the clubs who would use your money to establish a new Rangers.

Unite and bring the full power of Celtic against those who would rather do a deal with the devil than establish an honest, even, playing field.

If the Gang of 10 give Rangers Newco their way, using your money, we cannot go back to an away game, not this season, not ever. We must demand this discipline from each other and insist the club refuse all away tickets.

Having paid our taxes, registered footballers in an honest manner and brought international acclaim to Scottish football, the Celtic Movement is being corrupted by the lowest common denominator.

Our magnificent sporting institution is being destroyed. For the love of all that is decent and meritocratic in the game, we need help from England, Europe or wherever to move out of Scottish football.

I am just about finished with the entire, corrupt, shambles that masquerades as a sport.

Issue six of CQN Magazine….. has sold out! None left, sorry.

  1. Just in case there are some who haven’t heard of it, there is a rather good blog site which looks at the purely legal matters relating to all of this: http://scotslawthoughts.wordpress.com/

Check it out, there’s heaps and heaps of stuff there and great explanations of the legal positions.

  7. Would I like rangers to survive is a comlex question that I believe can be boiled down to a handful of points:

1 – Will they be punished for their financial activities? if yes then okay

2 – Will any new owner actively remove their sizable sectarian element? if yes then okay

3 – Will the police and SFA/SPL enforce the law/rules equally, if yes then okay

In one sense PL is correct – Celtic do not need them to survive, ie in a financial sense, however from the point of view of a league with someone to vie with for titles etc, then possibly we do need them.

However if even one of the points I have mentioned above are not fulfilled then it should be game over for them, anything else proves beyond doubt that there is little point in Celtic continuing to complete in what would be a corrupt league who change rules to suit one team.

  12. Just heard the ‘Off the ball’ guys sum up this weeks events saying that the Blue Knights have come to save rangers. Save them? Exactly how? All they are talking about is changing owners. They still have to see off the HMRC cases regardless of who owns the club (if CW sells of course).

no worries mate, you’ve got a bundle of credit with me.

I just hope that people start to talk about the Membership Scheme and embrace the concept. It is a fair way to spread the cost and it is a good way for us all to be included and to feel included. That each and every one of us might appreciate we may be a wee cog in the engine of the big Celtic Bus, but without each and every one of us onboard the bus won’t travel so smoothly.

The Celtic Bus is a freakin HUGE Bus.

  16. John ‘Yogi’ Hughes’s medal from the 1967 European Cup final was put up on eBay more than 30 years after it was stolen.

A European Cup winner’s medal belonging to one of Celtic’s ‘Lisbon Lions’ has been traced more than 30 years after it was stolen in a break-in after it turned up for sale on eBay.

Although John ‘Yogi’ Hughes did not play in the famous Lisbon final, where his Celtic team-mates overcame Inter Milan 2-1, extra medals were struck for him and two other players who were involved in earlier rounds.

His son, also called John, said the 1967 medal and a runner’s up medal from the 1970 final against Feyenoord were stolen in a break-in at the family home in Hamilton when he was 11 years old.

He contacted police after spotting the medal on the internet auction site eBay.

The Garda in Ireland recovered the item from the seller, who was based in Dublin. Mr Hughes said it appeared to have been put up for sale in good faith after being bought at a football memorabilia auction in London.

He said the original break-in happened one night when he and his brother Kevin were at home.

“The intruder just walked in,” he said. “We both thought the other was making the noise.

“He took knives from the kitchen and proceeded upstairs to ransack the place.

“Fortunately he decided to stick the knives in one of my Mum’s coats, because the next thing he did was walk in on Kevin.

“He apologised for interrupting and calmly walked down the stairs. He was obviously a pro.

“It took Kevin a minute to realise what had just happened. He then pursued the guy in bare feet over an adjoining building site, but lost him in the street.”

The 1970 medal was later recovered, but the whereabouts of the medal commemorating the 1967 triumph had been unknown until it was listed on internet auction site eBay this week.

The item was removed from eBay’s website shortly before the sale was due to close on Friday evening, having attracted a top bid of £9,500.

The listing for the medal gave the seller’s location as Dublin and said it was bought at a football memorabilia auction at Christie’s, in London, in 2007.

The catalogue from the sale on April 3 lists a 1967 European Cup winner’s medal which sold for £6,000.

Bankrupt Insolvent FC owe more than £ 100 million. They will liquidate and attempt a Newco.. Any Newco will have to try and extract itself from the ever so sticky embrace of Ticketus / Octopus ,and if they can’t , they will have to live with having to feed the Octopus regularly. Either way – The Octopus gains !

    Sparkleghirl……VERY INTERESTING

What, in essence, Ticketus are saying is that …

“For every £5 the consortium puts in, we’ll put in £nil…what we will do is give you a wee while longer to pay us back our money, since, if we don’t, we’ll end up with nothing..”

Fholks….Their statement, missing out all the spin crap…

“Ticketus believes that the best outcome for Ticketus and our investors is for the administration process to be concluded as soon as possible, with a purchaser found who is able to bring stability to the Club….(gie us oor money back….LOL)

Ticketus has an obligation to its investors to pursue all avenues to ensure that the ticket purchase agreement it entered into with the Club is honoured, and we are committed to going to the lengths necessary to ensure that its agreement with Ticketus is fulfilled. We believe that our investors’ interests are aligned to those looking to safeguard the Club’s future.

We have already been in contact with a number of other key stakeholders, including potential bidders and fans’ representatives, and believe working collaboratively with all parties to create a solution for the Club that puts it on a secure financial footing must be everyone’s priority. (HaHaHaHa)

Ticketus looks forward to continuing to work with the administrators and serious potential bidders to secure a positive outcome for the Club….<b)(so we can get oor money back)…LOL

We are therefore backing their bid and will be an active partner, contributing to a successful outcome……(Not an active FINANCIAL partner).

  21. 'crushed nuts?' 'Naw, Layringitis!' on

The journo from the Irish Independent (posted earlier) claims that Celtic fans are as bad as Them and are defined by hatred and a desire to see them fail. His attitude is shared by many scottish people who have a byline in the scottish meeja.

Whilst they highlight the violence, hatred and bile that is generated whenever Celtic play ranjurz, they express, at the same time, the opinion that scottish football cannot survive without it!

When was the last time you read or heard that Celtic v ranjurz was a ‘classic’ or even ‘a good game’?

Imagine you owned a classic car, you spend money doing it up and showing it off, you take it to shows and it wins prizes, you bask in the adulation that comes with the glory. Unfortunately because you think that your car should be entering bigger competitions so you make modifications, bigger engine, luxury fittings, but it doesn’t win. You become disillusioned with the whole thing and decide to sell. Your original valuation is too high and, despite your friends aggresively marketing your car, no-one shows any interest.

You lower your price, still no interest, your friends proclaim that this is because you’re too particular about who you will sell to. You lower your price again, in the meantime the new components that you fitted prove to be unreliable and costly to repair and replace.

Rumours begin to circulate that you have funded your car by not paying your road tax, you’ve also been using fuel duty free. Your friends are outraged and proclaim that you have done nothing illegal and are only doing what every other car owner was doing.

At thhis point a man you’ve never met before, but who has a vast supply of money, offers to take your car, this object of devotion, for £1. Reluctantly you accept, but you and your friends are assured that this new owner is just what your car needs.

At first your friends are effusive in their praise of this man. They speak in hushed tones about his lavish intentions, not only is he going to totally refurbish the car, he’s also going to build a brand new garage!

A few weeks later he wraps the car round a tree, your friends are outraged at his cavalier treatment of this venerable relic of better times.

You and your friends have vociferously denounced those who had questioned the new owners’ driving licence and his poor insurance rating.

The car is taken to a garage, the mechanics are confident that they can make it roadworthy, others, who know about cars, are convinced that the car is a write-off and that people are being duped.

Your friends are dismayed but are convinced that your Roll Royce Silver Cloud will return as a Vauxhall Corsa, but it will stil be the same car! Anyone who queries this is treated as a mental defective or evil-minded sort who just doesn’t understand how important the Corsa is.
