Boycott call as Celtic fans money promised to re-establish Rangers

1670

The Gang of 10 SPL club who will meet next week will decide whether or not we have a morally sound and ethically administered league. The meeting wasn’t announced three hours before overtures were being made on terms a Rangers Newco would be prepared to agree to in order to win their backing.

Effectively, the other 10 will asked to hold their noses, put all moral judgement aside and tell Rangers Newco the terms they need to agree to in order to get back into the SPL, retain their history and limit consequences of the alleged improper registration of players. Some of those hoping to front a Rangers Newco are prepared to do whatever is necessary to get back on a level playing field with those who have spent the last 20 years playing honest football and paying their taxes.

The question to be considered is not just what is ethically right in sport; it’s more personal than that. This is about what is going to happen to your money, the football club that defines who you are, and your relationship with the game for the rest of your life.

The schemers and cheats are not beaten and they are not going to give up. There is no honour, no ‘dignity’, no moral compass that understands there are consequences for decades of rampant abuse. All there is, is a sense of entitlement that I struggle to comprehend.

That sense of entitlement is about to promise bucket loads of your cash to someone else in order to restore the old certainties. This time, they are not even going to use the tax man’s money, they are going to use YOUR money. The money you put into the game will be distributed and used to flush the smaller clubs, who will in turn restore Rangers to their position of ascendency.

This is not sport, it’s a disgusting abuse of Celtic fans. You are not even being asked, you are being expected to open your wallets and pay whatever price it takes to put Rangers back on top.

I have never called for a boycott of a newspaper, never mind a football game, but this is not football anymore. We cannot be party to this. It is not a passing-issue either. Rules are being made with consequences that could last 100 years.

You have suffered from decades of malpractice and have earned the right to go to Ibrox in two weeks to enjoy the reflection of honest endeavour. After this, our next away game will be at Kilmarnock. If the Gang of 10 attempt an insurrection using your money, join me in a picket outside Celtic Park when these tickets are available for sale, and outside the away gates at Rugby Park on game day, to explain to Celtic fans the consequences of supporting the clubs who would use your money to establish a new Rangers.

Unite and bring the full power of Celtic against those who would rather do a deal with the devil than establish an honest, even, playing field.

If the Gang of 10 give Rangers Newco their way, using your money, we cannot go back to an away game, not this season, not ever. We must demand this discipline from each other and insist the club refuse all away tickets.

Having paid our taxes, registered footballers in an honest manner and brought international acclaim to Scottish football, the Celtic Movement is being corrupted by the lowest common denominator.

Our magnificent sporting institution is being destroyed. For the love of all that is decent and meritocratic in the game, we need help from England, Europe or wherever to move out of Scottish football.

I am just about finished with the entire, corrupt, shambles that masquerades as a sport.

Issue six of CQN Magazine….. has sold out! None left, sorry.

  1. I cannot believe some of the doom and gloom which has permeated through some of the recent articles. Reasons to be cheerful part one:-

1.Craig Whyte is still in charge and will want his pound of flesh.

2.They cannot afford to pay their current liabilities.

3.They cannot afford their current playing staff.

4.The big tax case appeal will go against them.

5.The rotund one is still their manager.

6.The blue knights in shining armour include a former incompetent director and possibly a dubious ticket company.

    7. An SPL enquiry still hangs over them.

As the king of Siam said etc.,etc.,etc.

    Reasons to cheerful part two:-

    1. We have the best young squad for a number of years.

2.Our management and board seem to working in the same direction.

    3.Our financial situation is robust.

4.The scouting system in place is the best that I can recall.

5.The rotund one is still their manager.

We cannot react to every rumour, every carefully leaked titbit or gossip.

This is still a time for enjoyment and keeping our powder dry.

I have vision and ambition and I am faithful and a grafter but I lack focus and pragmatism and business/ political craft. Auldheid has vision, he has ambition, he is faithful and he is a grafter and he has in abundance what I lack. He is pragmatic, diplomatic, and he is an experienced politico. The lowest (but most important) common denominator between us is we are both Scottish and proud and we are both Celtic Supporters and maybe even prouder.

Like every Celtic Supporter we want our club to be the best it can without owing another an ounce of our soul.

Auldheid had the idea of a Global Membership Scheme. A scheme that would both spread the cost of putting out the best Celtic team possible and enhance the revenue streams into our club so as our club, and by extension each and every one of us, can help more of those in the world who are in nead of help. He has his idea what that entails. I concur with some of what he says and would add other facets to what I think a membership scheme should encompass.

Celtic send out a questionnaire asking what would we as a support want from such a scheme. I am not aware of any other Supporter who filled in and returned the form or one who is even interested.

Calton last night said he would be interested. Nobody else did.

The difference between us and others is our ethos and us, us as individuals and us as a collective.

We can be so much more if we organise to that intent.

I honestly believe the day will come when our clubs biggest revenue stream will be through a membership scheme so the sooner we get the ball rolling the better. It’s Auldheids ball, I’m just helping him to give it a wee boot every so often, especially when he feels the need for medicinal breaks in the Caribbean.

The PAYE and NIC has been getting paid since Dubbs and Phelps took over the running of rfc (in administration) on 14th February 2012, they were duty bound to mate. The next return is due on the 19th March and will have to be made, if not they are open to action by HMRC. Or they gone like a busted flush. Hence why the wage reductions. No more PAYE and NIC can go unpaid since 14th February 2012.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Kind of appropriate

    On the battlefields of Scotland,

    in the hour of victory,

there was heard the cry of heroes,

    “Ogilvie, an Ogilvie.”

    Gallant son of gallant fathers,

it was thine as theirs to fight,

but with gates of hell contending

thou didst die for truth and right.

Blessed martyr, thy example will our strength in weakness be.

Hear our cry in times of peril: ”Ogilvie, an Ogilvie”

Talking about Ogilvie, is the David Ogilvie of the SPL

related to Campbell Ogilvie of the SFA?

  5. I don’t know what it is with Kaffliks and the 10th March. It’s my auld Dad’s 89th birthday today and he has 2 brothers-in-law who share the same day. St John Ogilvie has a lot to answer for. (By the bye, in spite of Glasgow claiming him, didn’t he come from Keith?) How they would all rejoice if today was the last day of that bastion of Scotland’s shame.

Do you think the membership scheme could be similar to season book s in that there can be a way for supporters to contrbute less whilst still feeling a part of the club..

    platinum ,gold silver etc..

It would allow folk on modest incomes to feel part of it

  7. Big Nan,

Thanks for that. I was there for the end of the Gorgie days but the bhoycott was before my time.

Woke up this morning and thought it was a bad dream. Rangers saved by the ‘blue nighties’. What is this another zillion- trillion-billion-aire or whatever that figure is that is too much to count has arrive with a cheque! How can this be? We were told no sound minded business man would touch this with a barge pole! But SSN says it is so. What’s it is not one person but a group! is this the ‘serious money’ people that purveyor of wisdom ‘Orcle Chick’ spoke about.

Yes!!! Its…. Paul Murray,a horde of rangers supporters groups with so much in common that they cannot have just one organisation and Ticketus! Eh! Is that the Paul Murray the Adims were dismissive of the the other day. Erm not sure how much the supporters groups have in their accounts but does not strike me as several millions and well ticketus are just looking after their ticket money and will want to be seen as favouring any potential buyer.

  13. kitabla,

I have been aware of Auldheid’s talk of the global membership for a long time. I never really gave it much thought but reading about how it might operate in practice and in the circumstances that could well face us now, I think the Club would do right by the shareholders and season tickets (to begin with) by explaining it to them. I certainly haven’t received anything from them on the subject. I want to be partaking of such a scheme.

Simple and succinct, I like it.

Now if only the SPL/SFA acted logically, unfortunately what we all know to be the right way to do things is not necessarily what the SPL/SFA believe to be the right way.

  16. And another thing, just reading the overnight updates

“SFA chief: responsibility for owner test lay with Rangers ”

if that’s the case, they can’t just get shot of Whyte, claim to be innocent victims and expect no more puishment. If Mr Regan belives it was Rangers responsibility then by extension the whole mess, all the tax owed and any dodgy dealings since is also the fault of Rangers.

  17. Nick Clegg has said he wants to go after millionaires who dodge levies on their wealth by introducing a “tycoon tax”.

The Deputy Prime Minister claims many top earners are avoiding taxes by employing an “army of lawyers and accountants”.

He signalled he is ready to remove opposition to axing the 50p top rate of income tax – a move that Tory backbenchers and business leaders have demanded – on condition the wealthiest pay their fair share.

In an interview with The Telegraph as the Liberal Democrats meet in Gateshead for their spring conference , Mr Clegg said he believes thousands of millionaires pay tax at a rate of less than 30%.

It isnot what I think the Membership Scheme should be that is important, believe me when I tell you, as far as Celtic is concerned, the most important thing about the membership scheme is what YOU think.

However, to answer your question I think everybody who takes a membership (when it gets off the ground) would be made to feel part of the family in my model.

Seen a few calculations regards the Hun wage cuts.

When whyte took over he said there was a £10 million black hole in earnings.

The wages the players are getting now could this possibly be the level at which they will be in the future ?

Ticketus repayments and no Europe plus no bank overdraft facility.

Still think the only way out for them is liquidation.

The biggest stitch up will be if newco are allowed straight into the spl and

Paul67 and James Forrest have refocused some of our attention to the sfa and spl10 jiggery .

Tynecastle was seriously bad for getting into at the Gorgi Road (Green Tree) end.

The Edinburgh police were terrible with our fans too.

I suppose that a boycott will only work if the cause is just and the fans are indignant. Both conditions will apply if the gang of 10 try to help Newco to our detriment.
