Boycott call as Celtic fans money promised to re-establish Rangers

1670

The Gang of 10 SPL club who will meet next week will decide whether or not we have a morally sound and ethically administered league. The meeting wasn’t announced three hours before overtures were being made on terms a Rangers Newco would be prepared to agree to in order to win their backing.

Effectively, the other 10 will asked to hold their noses, put all moral judgement aside and tell Rangers Newco the terms they need to agree to in order to get back into the SPL, retain their history and limit consequences of the alleged improper registration of players. Some of those hoping to front a Rangers Newco are prepared to do whatever is necessary to get back on a level playing field with those who have spent the last 20 years playing honest football and paying their taxes.

The question to be considered is not just what is ethically right in sport; it’s more personal than that. This is about what is going to happen to your money, the football club that defines who you are, and your relationship with the game for the rest of your life.

The schemers and cheats are not beaten and they are not going to give up. There is no honour, no ‘dignity’, no moral compass that understands there are consequences for decades of rampant abuse. All there is, is a sense of entitlement that I struggle to comprehend.

That sense of entitlement is about to promise bucket loads of your cash to someone else in order to restore the old certainties. This time, they are not even going to use the tax man’s money, they are going to use YOUR money. The money you put into the game will be distributed and used to flush the smaller clubs, who will in turn restore Rangers to their position of ascendency.

This is not sport, it’s a disgusting abuse of Celtic fans. You are not even being asked, you are being expected to open your wallets and pay whatever price it takes to put Rangers back on top.

I have never called for a boycott of a newspaper, never mind a football game, but this is not football anymore. We cannot be party to this. It is not a passing-issue either. Rules are being made with consequences that could last 100 years.

You have suffered from decades of malpractice and have earned the right to go to Ibrox in two weeks to enjoy the reflection of honest endeavour. After this, our next away game will be at Kilmarnock. If the Gang of 10 attempt an insurrection using your money, join me in a picket outside Celtic Park when these tickets are available for sale, and outside the away gates at Rugby Park on game day, to explain to Celtic fans the consequences of supporting the clubs who would use your money to establish a new Rangers.

Unite and bring the full power of Celtic against those who would rather do a deal with the devil than establish an honest, even, playing field.

If the Gang of 10 give Rangers Newco their way, using your money, we cannot go back to an away game, not this season, not ever. We must demand this discipline from each other and insist the club refuse all away tickets.

Having paid our taxes, registered footballers in an honest manner and brought international acclaim to Scottish football, the Celtic Movement is being corrupted by the lowest common denominator.

Our magnificent sporting institution is being destroyed. For the love of all that is decent and meritocratic in the game, we need help from England, Europe or wherever to move out of Scottish football.

I am just about finished with the entire, corrupt, shambles that masquerades as a sport.

Issue six of CQN Magazine….. has sold out! None left, sorry.

Every manager purchases a player or 2 that don’t contribute what they expect, even the most experienced ones. Juarez was one of Neil’s first signings and apart from Daryl Murphy I’d say Neil has had far more successes than failures:

    i.e.

    Izzy

    Kayal

    Hooper

    Stokes

    Mulgrew

    Wanyama

    etc

It’s testament to how well the club has been run in recent years that a £3m purchase of a player isn’t catastrophic.

I reffered to it a numbet of times on here as did Kit but your point is useful. I have been making the point that there are supporters and potential supporters out there who for one reason or other are not being reached

The delay has been caused by reviewing the original rationale after feedback from supporter groups. The latest development re gate sharing and Rangers diminishing produces a new angle and in my opinion a great opportunity to create the kind of membership scheme that pulls in every supporter world wide.

The problem is getting folk to understand the degree of interdependence that exists between all supporters and potential supporters whether they attend, watch on TV, watch on streams for nothing (and I mean put no money at all into the club when they could) and even those who only watch rarely but have a strong affinity that would make them join up at a much lower rate.

It is a discussion that needs to take place and a wee article at the right time would help.

    Thanks.

  4. The Bloo Knytes are smoke & mirrors….Paul Murray wouldn’t touch the toxic waste when it was being flogged for £1. Why would he truly want it now….unless,of course, their debt gets written off. And if THAT happened, there would be a UK f.c. free for all, with every debt stricken club quoting Ragers as a precedent. HMRC can’t allow that to happen. The ConDems would go mental….I mean, they’ve got all this ‘austerity’ to finance. And there’s no way that shower are going to allow a ‘provincial’ football mob to set tax evasion precedent and allow potential billions in tax revenue be scuppered, nationwide.

    On a separate note folks,

I am told that there was a dinner thingy the other night for a certain group of folk.

These were air traffic control staff who were having a bit of a knees up, a meal and a drink etc and bouncing about, in and amongst them was one VANESSA RIDDLE!

Many expressions of gratitude were expressed towards CQN and CQN contributers for highlighting Vanessa’s plaight and for helping to raise funds for her.

She has recently undergone yet another dose of Chemo and is awaiting to go to the states when the medical time is right.

I know not everyone on here believes in a God, or a religeon, or organised religeon or whatever, but can I ask that you all keep Vanessa in your thoughts. The wee lass is really very unwell despite appearances ,and her treatment is a daily battle with the disease that marches on within her. It is unrelenting and just will not go away unfortunately. The future remains very uncertain.

However her Grandad apparently went out of his way to thank the CQN folk for all their effort and no matter what happens it is important that you should all know that.

    Cheers

  7. This just shows the utter CR*P coming out of the would be saviours of hunsville. Paul M has consistently denied liquidation likelihood, he has stated the he thinks a CVA can be agreed etc… How can he say this? Duff^2 has stated that they have never discussed a CVA with the creditors. It seems highly unlikely to me or at least a very significant gamble if someone buys RFC (IA) without the first idea of how much they might be up for with regards to the HMRC. Would anyone in their right mind take on any business with 100M quidish anvil hovering over your head? On top of that you have the possibility of the club being plunged into even further disgrace with the dual contracts. Any new owner could find themselves emproiled in court case after court case. Mind you, I did say “anyone in their right mind…”

  8. BRTH

    – did they ever get round to putting a roof on the Shopping Centre?

As I used to make my way from FineFare, past Dees en route to Johm Menzies to buy their cut price singles I always thought the thing looked half finished?

  9. Sorry if this has been asked but is there a list of RFCIA’s creditors available?

If not, when will this be published, and will it be made public?

  10. Maybe it is just my way of thinking on CW and P Murrays ambitions.

If the latter purchases rfcIA with Ticketus in board is he not doing the same as agent Whyte, ie buying the club with someone else’s money?

  11. Well….I am looking forward to The Match tomorrow, and watching Broonie do his ‘midfield general’ bit,Izzy comin’ down the wing & Sammi thunderin’ forward like a man posessed. It’ll be a relief to forget about the garbage from Govan and focus on what we are all about. Great football, great club, great support, great history.

  12. When the individuals who vote on Rangers Newco becoming an SPL member, they shoukd maybe think on this little analogy

Most , if not all will be members of a golf club. Woukd they play with a guy who was a member of their regular Saturday morning fourball, if that guy had for years cheated them.

For years used illegal equipment, for years dropped a ball down his trouser leg, when the original ball was lost. For years moved his marker on putts nearer the hole. For years never declared a fresh air shot and for years employed a caddy who’s job was to stamp an opponents ball into the mud, rather than help him find it.

Would they accept all that and just keep playing with him…..i think we all know that this wouldn’t happen

However, what if the cheat agreed to buy the drinks after the game on a Saturday morning………well in the real world, the cheat would be chased even quicker

Somehow i don’t see the SPL voters applying the same level of moral fortitude . They in effect, if they vote Rangers in , will continue a line of shameful behaviour that started with Murray ( the dodgy variety) was ignored by Peat and Templar Smith and has continued through Whyte

Thats quite a club to want to be a member of……….nobody from Scottish Football will ever be able to lecture anyone about the integrity of the game if Rangers Newco are admitted.

Banana Republics would shudder at the comparison with Scotland if this goes ahead

Admins have to write to all creditors within 8 weeks after admin starts outlining what they intend to do. They have until April 10th. Proposal have to be put to the creditors by then and if they intend coming out of admin, a CVA will have to be proposed.

It needs 75% of creditors to approve it.

First time poster after an embarrassingly long multiple year lurk.

Firstly many thanks to paul67 for such a fantastic blog I am constantly amazed by the time and commitment you give to the site, it’s truly something you and the Celtic family can be proud of.

Secondly thank you to all the regular posters, there are many fantastic contributors who are both entertaining and educational.

The last few days have been a bit of a roller coaster to say the least. But it seems to me that there is still a very long way to go. A few months back we all knew the BTC would hit, and although we knew through Paul, RTC, and others that there were dodgy dealings, non payment of PAYE etc. It was always going to be the BTC that would ultimately lead to liquidation. Nothing has changed.

Duff and Fluff claim the BTC is red herring (that will be the 60,000 lb red herring sat next to the gorilla and the elephant in the room). It will completely define the terms of any expression of interest in the club from who ever most likely any offer being conditional on a CVA taking account of the outcome of the FTT.

Tickets involvement can only be to protect their ‘investment’ and to minimise potential losses, it will not be to inject further cash. Their involvement in any bid to my mind confirms that their contract has traction, which will not be good news for whatever Co. Emerges from this mess.

And then there are the second contracts to deal with….. A long way to go me thinks.

Anyway looking forward to getting back to the football tomorrow and another step towards the treble.

Oh and by the way, if there are of you politico types– politicians, journalists, researchers, lobbyists or whatever…. If the treatment of Clydebank is a disgrace then the lack of attention and care for Dumbarton High street and the surrounding area is a complete bloddy crime against humanity.

Repost fromlast night and relevant to the idea of the Blue Knights buying Rangers as Rangers.

I’ve been playing around with an interactive business case that shows that a NewRangers starting in Div 3 and renting Ibrox would have little difficulty surviving as a business with no TicketUs repayment and no HMRC debt.

    Its at

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq2m3ggkEX2RdExpY2o1b1luZHFDWXU1VnIwVFJtS1E

Its all pretty obvious without having to go into any detail.

However the s/sheet allows the impact of Ticketus repayments at any chosen value to be deducted and shows the impact on the bottom line. The players weekly wage can then be changed to show the impact of wages on the bottom line. The gate figures can be changed to reflect various assumptions arising from wage reduction as to its size and again the impact shows in the bottom line.

Thus for example whilst a weekly wage ceiling of £1422 in year one can be paid the requirement to repay Ticketus at 25% repayment of ticket value brings that down to £850 a week in year 1.

Without Ticketus (or HMRC) the weekly wage in Yr 2 and 3 is £2109, but if Ticketus need repaid then it drops to £1540, In year 4 assuming it’s the SPL and after allowing a couple of £2M transfer binges (in relative terms) the weekly wage settles around the £6,900 mark and with a strict spend policy in place there is a net profit after 8 years of £2.39M. So a Newco without Ticketus and HMRC is a going concern, unlike the current business model.

The sheet also allows for the effect of HMRC tax being repaid over 1 to 8 years to be seen. I know it is unlikely but the tax is set at £75M (using RTC ‘s figures) and by entering the number of years over which it can be paid up to 8 (over £9M a year) it can be seen that should HMRC win the players and staff would have to work for nothing for three years but in Year 4 and back in the SPL a weekly player wage of £2625 could start to be paid with £4470 weekly thereafter with Ticketus of the scene also and HMRC repayments could be met.

This does show how that if HMRC win the chances of a deal to buy Rangers stretching over 8 year is just not going to happen as the repayments remove the possibility of paying players based on the income in the first three years, four if Ticketus are being repaid. Thi sis why they talk of a pence in the pound deal with HMRC which still means they are dodging their taxes in the very unlikely event such a deal transpires.

The just and rightful start position is for a Newco to enter Div3 having jettisoned Ticketus and HMRC debt to rise again but after facing the consequences of crimes against Scottish football. The spreadsheet is there to play around with to give an idea of the kinds of figures required to run Rangers, most probably NewRangers over an 8 year period. If anyone wants the original file to refine it or just play around off line e mail me via Paul..

  22. Saint Lubo@11.37

I agree. D& only put out all that doom and gloom 48 hours guff to get the players to agree wage cuts and to be able to go to the High Court on Thursday pleading that rankers would be bust without the £3.6m now. This was an obvious tactic as D&F were the ones that called off the meeting with agents on Wednesday to discuss wage cuts.

Now that the 3.6m has gone to trial and the wage cuts in place we are back to the original 16 March as being the date for bidders to pitch up.

All the transfer funds they haven’t paid off, all the overdue gate money and all the other agencies hunz are in debt to (cleaning companies, building contractors, police – that must be a fair sum [by fair, I mean ‘not insignificant’ – sorry to use the word fair with RFC, rather confusing term I know] and goodness knows who else.

Still reeling from Paul67’s leader yesterday, and your analogy with cheating resonates.

Deep down the fear from Celtic fans that the great escape will occur is tangible, but only temporarily due to blanket coverage of 75% reduction giving us “The Heroes” headlines to permeate the Scottish air.

The great deception by the press continues, to entangle them, in the mire and obstructs them from the reality of the situation, it’s not what impotent Rangers do about this situation but as others have posted it’s what Celtic do, in the lead up to, and aftermath of any potential conspiracy .

    Morning all,

Does anyone get the feeling that, with the so called “saving of R*angers”, RFC(IA) are now going through a similar situation to the scene at the end of the film A Perfect Storm?

Although they have manged to turn the boat around they are simply heading back into the storm that surrounds them, and it is never going to let them out. Except it’s a bigger storm this time. And there are more of them too. Your “institution” doesn’t stand a chance against these forces…
