BROONY REVENGE?

CELTIC legend Scott Brown has emerged as a shock favourite for the manager’s job at Cheltenham Town.

The struggling English third-tier club, who have taken just one point from their first nine games, hope to announce their new boss before Saturday’s trip to Lincoln.

Brown, who is 1/4 favourite with the bookies according to Gloucestershire Live, could get the chance of swift revenge on former club Fleetwood Town when the teams meet in a League One fixture on Tuesday.

THE LAST HURRAH…Scott Brown and Callum McGregor hold the Scottish Cup after Celtic’s penalty-kick win over Hearts at Hampden in December 2020 to complete the phenomenal quadruple treble. It was the skipper’s grand finale, his 22nd and last trophy success at the Hoops.

The 38-year-old former Hoops skipper’s 16-month spell in charge at Highbury ended when he was axed just six games into the new campaign, as CQN reported earlier this month.

Brown had guided Fleetwood to a respectable 13th place in the division last season as well as a record-breaking run to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The abrupt conclusion to his time at the club came as a surprise after he had arranged season-long loans for Hoops kids Adam Montgomery and Bosun Lawal during a busy summer rebuild.

Scott Robertson had also been released early by Celtic to join Brown’s side in January.

Cheltenham fired manager Wade Elliott six days ago to open the door to a quickfire dug-out return for the Celtic great.
