Building Leigh Griffiths

324

I doubt even Leigh Griffiths’ dad thought he had this kind of form in him when he signed for Celtic in January last year. The then 23-year-old had ‘squad filler’ written all over him as he waited in line behind Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes. The arrival of John Guidetti and Stefan Scepovic a year ago could have limited Leigh’s chances further, but neither showed enough form to make the striker position their own.

Prospects looked bleak last season. Two starts before Christmas, Leigh spent time with the youths and looked to be heading out of the club in January, but with the manager’s mind increasingly made up on Guidetti and Scepovic, he got his chance. The transformation has been remarkable. His goals return compares to the best in the modern era, but it’s the type of goals he scores which has caught the attention most.

He’s fast, skilful, can out-jump central defenders and scores goals in big games. Should Celtic choose to play with Carlton Cole as a target man, Leigh will also be able to play to his left.

Whatever Ronny Deila achieves this season, the improvement in Leigh Griffiths will feature high up the list.  Leigh’s attitude to self-improvement is also worth noting.

  1. Great news re Nir. He has come on really well under Ronny. If he continues to improve I would like us to retain him rather than sell him on.

  2. For those who have been having a nightmare accessing CQN recently, hopefully the end is in sight.

    My friends in Celtic,

Leigh Griffiths,s goal scoring form is what we have been crying out for. A striker that can score goals.

Even if he does nothing else than score goals what a bonus.

Gerd Muller is remembered as a great player for the amount of goals he scored, nothing else.

*an average left back who played against us in that position in the ’66 NA tour.

  5. Could Lawwell not have waited till next week?

Nir will definitely hit the ‘post new improved contract’ slump soon. They all do.

Rangers International Football Club plc is regulated by the Companies Act of 2006. A Special Resolution is a resolution passed by 75% of the members present in person, or by proxy, and entitled to vote at a general meeting. Not less than 21 days notice specifying the intention to propose the resolution as a special resolution must be given. What King’s concert party of 34% are seeking is the authority for allotment of equity securities by the directors without restriction.

At the EGM on 6th March, King, Murray and Gilligan were appointed with 85% of the votes cast. However 43% did not vote for King’s concert party. Those who abstained included Sandy Easdale and his Beaufort Nominees proxy. Should he vote against King at the forthcoming AGM, there is no possibility of King securing the authority he requires to dilute the voting rights of the currently shareholder. If successful King would have the authority to allocate more shares to the shyster board and to set aside an allocation to sell to Rangers First CIC.

At the emergency board meeting at Mar Hall last week, the pitch for more loans to George Taylor, in a telephone conference call, was underpinned by the result of the Rangers First CIC vote. The latter is supposed to be independent and at arms length from RIFC plc. I posit that this is not the case. Those appointed in executive positions will be pro King and his concert party.

At Hearts, the 8,000 members of their foundation pay £16,20 per month by direct debit, which yields £1,555,200 to the board. It will repay the loan provided by Anne Budge of £2.4m.

There are currently 20,000 direct debit contributors to the RST and Rangers First. Should they contribute a similar amount, they will yield £324,000 per month, £3.89m per annum.

There is an opportunity here for artifice, which will not be lost on someone as cunning and corrupt as King. We know that Douglas Park is out. He has made his contribution, reclaimed his bus concession, and will let his son oversee his soft loan. George Letham is out. He could only afford to buy just over 4% of the issued share capital at a cost of £685,000. His previous loan to the former board was at 15%. Mr Letham borrowed this amount and as he is a real Rangers man, unlike King who is a carpetbagger, he did not make a profit on the Letham Facility. He is not in a position to offer an interest free soft loan. King, as we all now know, is no longer a wealthy individual who could not afford to buy his shares. We therefore arrive at George Taylor. Let’s assume that he put up £1.5m.

Should the concert party achieve the 75% threshold, they could authorize a debt for equity swap, realizing 16.67m shares at 27p per share. They currently own 27.51m. If this occurred, the concert part would have 45% of the issued share capital and voting rights. Mike Ashley’s influence would drop to 7.36%.

As I see it, those who loaned £4.5m could engage in a deal with Rangers First CIC to purchase these 16.67m shares to repay the loans, with £3.89m repaid within a year. RST/RF currently have 4.07m shares, so when added to the 16.67m, this would provide them with 21% of the issued share capital.

The current board debtors have a choice should they gain the 75% majority required. They could choose repayment, issue 16.67m shares to Rangers First CIC and be debt free. They could later issue shares to themselves at a nominal sum to gain more control.

Without disapplication of preemption rights, they must first offer any additional issued share capital on a pro rata basis to the current stakeholders. If they all chose to take up their allocation, the concert party would remain at 34%.

Even though the shyster board could technically issue shares to themselves at less than the over the counter price of 23p-27p, established by JP Jenkins in its matched bargain service, any cash raised becomes an asset on the company’s balance sheet. This could be critical in avoiding going concern warnings by auditors.

If King were to step down and cede authority to Murray & Gilligan, I would have no objection to the board having access to this authority. However giving a career criminal, with a track record of fraudulent share manipulation this authority, would open Pandora’s box.

Your statement twice in past 24hrs has been Aberdeen have their own bus, sorry but that’s not the case.

Do Celtic pay for the Parks bus for our 1st team ? Not sure, But I think they sponsor us to supply this ?

Now Celtic may be able to afford to buy one, but they then need to cost this, insure, employ drivers, service etc, so I would have thought Celtic will have done this costing and found it not a feasible option ? Should we be ditching, just because of Parks involvement with the Beasties ?

Not as simple as just ditching Parks, do you know of any Celtic Minded bus Co. Who would provide this service to the standard offered by Parks ? Sweeney’s ? McDaids ? No idea mhate

Thanks for your concern, we are fine, the mess was unbelievable, there was a storm to beat the band, trees ripped up, floods, the pool overflowed cos the water cascading down the hill filled it, about 2″ of crap at the bottom to clean out, we were lucky as we are near the top of the hill, those below us not so, a fair few flooded out.

As for SS, saw him against Barca the other night, he missed a sitter at 0-0, might have made a difference, cos Barca were garbage, just a better class of garbage that Getefe, he was pish the rest of the game tho, made all the right moves but didn’t get too much service, where have I heard that before….

Whilst we are at it, why not by a used Boeing 737 at c £5m, for our occasional forays into Europe ?

I have no idea on the nature of our transactional relationship with suppliers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if companies in areas like transport provided the goods foc as ‘in kind sponsorship’.
