Burke and Weah weigh in, battle for second, Levein returns to norm

385

There can be little more satisfying experiences for a manager than seeing two new strikers get on the score sheet so quickly.  Oliver Burke and Timo Weah have scored twice since making their debuts on Saturday.  With Vakoun Issouf Bayo taking a halftime bow and Odsonne Edouard back in training, December’s scenario when Mikey Johnston was asked to play as striker seems a distant memory.

All Celtic can do to increase their lead at the top of the table is to continue to win and watch what happens below.  Kilmarnock moved into second place with a win over Newco last night, but they travel to fourth placed Aberdeen on Saturday, who, if they win, would be the third team to occupy second place within four days.

Earlier this season, when Hearts were top of the table and enjoying lots of media accolade, I was asked by someone not too familiar with the game if Craig Levein was a good manager.  At the time Craig was popping up everywhere, enjoying a glow of satisfaction.  “No.  Craig Levein is not a good manager” was my reply.  The Edinburgh are sixth and sinking fast.  Craig Levein’s performances have returned to the norm.

That hearing is a tickbox exercise mate, i agree parking restriction proposals are a joke given the pathetic public transport to and from celtic parking.

However, that does not excuse celtic’s lack of planning regards addressing the issue. stick head in sand comes to mind or it does not effect the fatcats so who given a fuck!!!.

Celtic should turn barrowfield training centre into a car parking with buses ferrying fans to the stadium on match days. That would take 1000 cars off the streets within the mile radius, they could also get topdeck parking behind the stand at janefield street and that would add another 500 spaces. 1500 car parking spaces for supporters driving to game.

These proposals have been coming for a few years now and still celtic have done nothing to address the issue for the fans to make sure we are given what is essentially basic facilities.

Someone needs to tell peter that £5 x 1500 parking spaces is £7500 x 30 game is £225,000, per season before charging for other events across the road.

There’s simply no excuse for not persuing the SFA / referees committee over this nonsense.

Killie & Aberdeen have both publicly stated concerns over how the disciplinary process is conducted. We need to call this out , and calling it out when you’re top of the league is even more worthwhile and important.

  11. Good evening CQN:

Celtic Star is Winning Captains. As for things I post I hear a lot of who we are talking to and deals that are being attempted. Recently have taken the decision of late to post when I hear deals are over the line…Weah, Bayo and Burke. The decision partly influenced by my friend Tiny Tim.

    PHILBHOY:

Tiny Tim wasn’t putting me down, he is a friend and would not post anything here that he ain’t said to my face or in text.

I will leave you with this…

Gamboa happy to see out his time with us, impacting on bringing in a RB, that is the question.

Lustig, great servant, will he be offered a new contract or sign a precontract with AIK!

    And finally…

What if we offered two Players on loan, bought McKenna and loaned him back for the rest of the season!

  13. Re Ajax getting mega money for De Jong…

The biggest factor for me which hasn’t been mentioned yet is their proven track record of producing a vast number of excellent players. A fair few of them were truly word class. This is why they can demand big money for their players imo. The resurgence of their team at European level in recent seasons also helps of course.

When cashed up clubs go shopping at Ajax they do so in the knowledge that this club knows how to develop and produce some amazing talent.

It looks like it’s something we’re aspiring to do and I think we’re improving in that area but we’ve a long way to go in youth development to be comparable to Ajax.

I remember reading something about ajax fans not being to happy with club because they stuck to budget and had iver 100million in the bank.

All the money for player sales can improve their business I.e hotel, museum, bettrr stadium, parking etc… but they still have same issues we have in that they struggle to build a team cause of their location. would bite your hand off for half their success.

  17. How can the SFA show Beaton’s match report when they said he seen all the Morelos incidents?

At the Ralston stamp he gave a throw-in. Why would he mention a throw-in, in a match report?

They have saved Morelos from a ban, but left a (Dougie Dougie) smoking gun.

  18. My god all this girning over a wee Columbian kicking and pulling at our players .

Surprised at broonie mind you , not the man who took care of Diouf, Barton, and a few others who thought they were tough guys .ralston built like a brick house lavvy ,also bested by the wee columbian , Christie not made for a battle . Backs up what I’ve been saying for seasons now , we have a team full of softies. Hay . Aitken and wee Bertie ,would have had him stiffened in two minutes flat . With regards lawell, he is just the puppet for Desmond , you know him he is the guy who has high regard for sevco, who is delighted they have arrived back in the top flight of Scottish football , the mob that brings there own rules , there own referees . There own media , and who brings hate and filth to our stadiums . The guy who can’t get off the golf course to attend the clubs AGM . I have seen some bad decisions , bad moves in my 60 odd years following the hoops , but if we lose this coach we have now , because obstacles are being put in his way , or undermining him we will pay dearly . I sincerely hope it doesn’t come to that .

From the time i was able to make my way to Parkhead, getting lifted over the turnstile by any obliging celtic fan, standing in the jungle (one eye on the game, the other spent trying to avoid getting the back of my legs wet) until this present day, i have seen many sights to behold. From early on in these days, looking on in sheer amazement at this wee rid heided guy, absolutely terrorising defenders, and being booted upside down for his troubles, then getting to his feet and terrorising them all over again, until most of them just died inside, as they knew no matter what they did, Jinky was going to make fools of them.

Lots and lots of great memories, some that no sane person would have wagered on happening, such as wee Johnny Doyle nipping in between two Real Madrid defenders and scoring a ridiculous headed goal that he had absolutely no right to score.

Walking to Parkhead, and literally running from it back home, (being chased by zombies… bad losers them eh ?) when 10 men won the league (because public transport were on strike). I even got to see Danny McGrain lace his boots through a ball and from 40yards, it travelled 2 feet from the ground in a straight line and hit the back of the net.

There are far too many (to mention) other memories, and some of you will have their own (even better i’m sure).

What i don’t ever forget is, (and neither should you) are the not so good times, and i reflect upon them now, some very low points in my fitba memories. When i had to endure the EBT team cheat history, sfa, disgraceful media, and ludge whistlers, all looking to put us down.

I’m enjoying and savouring every single moment of these last years, and so should you !!!

Because i know the zombies are having all the low points now, payback is a bitch (but at least she’s sweet).
