Business complete after Griffiths

1474

With Leigh Griffiths set to sign in the next few moments our business for the January transfer window is complete.  As well as Leigh, we added 20-year-old Icelandic striker Holmbert Fridjobsson, and 23-year-old Norwegian left-midfielder, Stefan Johansen.

I expect Johansen and Griffiths to be holding down a starting place no later than next month.  Johansen’s case will be made all the more straightforward if Joe Ledley accepts an offer from Crystal Palace, although he may choose to wait until the summer before leaving.

We’ll be wondering why we signed Mo Bangura years from now, he patently didn’t look a player at Celtic.

Neil Lennon has a fixer-upper with Leigh, a player he has taken a number of references for and believes he can turn into a productive Celtic player.   The player’s personal history is something he has to put behind him now.  I’ve read many comments on this subject over the last few days, with some empathy, but it’s just as well Twitter wasn’t around in the 60s, 70s or 80s.  Some of our heroes from past eras have been more than a tad off-colour in my earshot.

Time for Leigh to get onto the field and do what he does best.

Ok, if you really believe that, you are not as smart as I honestly thot you were.

I will wager you this now, we will not be playing in sectarianland in 4 years time, I will wager my cave on it, with the pool n all.

  2. Ah well night night, as soon as it becomes a GB exchange that’s when we lower the bar in here, I’m here to talk about Celtic , not they bam pots any lurking Huns GIRUYs.

  3. Hamiltontim I am aware the phrase is provocative. It’s meant to be. But I won’t restrict the metaphor because of obvious sensitivities. There is offence to take unless you really look for it.

Oh that’s easy Owen. I will give you two examples. The time we sold McGrath we were told all money in would be spent on players out. I think we made abou £7m net income in that window and we made more money the next. He lied and poor Paul then started telling is the money went on catering etc. it as simply a lie.

Then we can take the stated ambition of improving every transfer window. Well when we sold hooper and wanyama we clearly went way backwards. Our CL campaign was embarrassing.

The Messi joke was in relation to the idea that we had yet again failed to plan ahead for some future event which may not even happen. At no point did I say you had called for Messi etc.

I am so sorry that you have, yet again, had to explain yourself to someone as obviously unintelligent as myself but could you possible leave out the condescending (sighs).

No you’re wrong on this. Even if you can reconcile yourself with the inappropriateness of the phrase, the context in which your using it is wholly inaccurate.

Did I come over unhappy and sad like ?

On the contrary, I am very happy, happier than I have been re Celtic for some time, I actually see a light at the end of the tunnel, now I may well be deluding myself, but going by what has gone on for most of my life, I am happy enough with what is in front of me.

    Dear Mr Saint Stivs,

Surprise! I Was Playing “Devil’s Advocate” All Along!

It can happen: you may reach the point where, in spite of expertly using all of these tactics, you’re suddenly struck by the discomfiting notion that maybe the marginalized people, uh, have a point. This doesn’t feel very good for any privileged person. It’s highly uncomfortable for a start-off, the sensation you may be wrong about something. But even worse, it may mean you have to endure the humiliation of admitting that!!But never fear, for all is not lost! You can still worm your way out of this one! Simply say: “It was all a social experiment!”

This makes it okay, you see! Not only does it imply to the marginalized people you’re really not the ignorant, obnoxious bigot you might be beginning to realize you are, you successfully communicate to them that you are that insensitive, that arrogant and that much of a douchebag you would take very real and serious issues that affect their lives and treat them as nothing more than a theoretical discussion for your own detached amusement!

In this way you cover your arse whilst affirming your privilege!

    Proverbs 26:18-19

“As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, so is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?”

“Like a maniac shooting flaming arrows of death is one who deceives their neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”

I was only joking has got to be the weakest kop out of them all.

  10. Hamiltontim I refuse to bow to your political correctness. The phrase illustrated my point very well. It’s a widely used phrase. I seem to remember mr or wells book speaking about the need to censor words.

As I said for any comparison to be made about this transfer window surely we have to wait and see how we perform in the CL qualifying games next season.

I do agree with you about losing Wanyama and Cooper. We did slip up there but I’m looking to the future.

TET, a bold statement re the 4 years and the betting of the cave.

However, please remove the pool tiling from said bet, I’ll have that as it fits in wi ma retirement plan.

You always said I should get one like yours so here’s ma chance. You can live in ma woodshed and ferment quality Spanish wines from the olives you harvest on the HDA fareways. Not a bad life mate.

You have missed my point entirely. I didn’t make comparisons. I highlighted that these anti-immigrant messages are prevalent in our society. LG has made a massive mistake in using such language but he was 21 years old. I don’t know his educational background but I’d suggest that he isn’t the next Adolf Hilter but merely a stupid young guy retorting to an insult with an insult that he has heard many times growing up in “modern Scotland”.

I’m not saying that makes it ok, far from it, but perspective is needed. Get a grip.

  17. Big cup winners, as much as some would say I am a st mirren fan (and on that lies a real story of the small minded ess of some on this site) why on earth would I spend all this energy here if I wasn’t.

As much as I love celtic when the meaning of that support is bastardised as much as it is being then I will fight back.

  18. NegAnon2,

Must be hard to be so consistently critical of all things Celtic especially for a Celtic supporter. The emphasis being on supporter.

As for circa 700 faithful fans going to see Celtic Nation. Wow big deal. Maybe next week they will be going to Cumbria to see Cleator Moor Celtic.

If fans want to go and see an alternative team when our team is not playing No probs. But faithful and supporting another team in the same sentence is not compatible.

We were there before the GB, we were there during the GB and we will be there when the GB are only a memory.

Please read what I said. I’m not talking about the appropriateness I’m talking about the actual meaning of the word ‘ethnic’ in the context you’re using it. It’s inaccurate.

It’s like saying, “I drove my loaf of bread to school!”

  21. PAUL 67 – CQTEN…

“I arrived at work one morning and bemoaned the toxicity to Celtic of “What the Celtic fans want to know, is where did all the Seville money go?” to a friend, who happened to be a Rangers fan. “Why don’t you start a blog and explain it?” he suggested. “What’s a blog?”, I answered.
He sat me down in front of a computer, brought up Blogger, and talked me through setting up a blog. Over the next four weeks Celtic’s accounts were dissected in granular detail. Thousands came to Celtic Quick News, mostly to tell me what a dick I was, but some to share their hunger for genuine information about our club.
A decade later the mainstream media have thoroughly lost control of the football agenda in Scotland. Fan-based media is all pervasive, so much so the Scotland of 2004 was more like modern-day North Korea in media-message-management terms than modern Scotland. The clowns who rag-dolled Celtic are now seen for what they are. Largely ignored by the bulk of the population, they prey on a diminishing demographic, with a broken business model.
Fans, through new-media, held Scottish football to account in 2012 when the established powers tried to change the rules to accommodate Craig Whyte’s outrageous business plan. Citizen journalism is far from perfect, in fact, it is mostly absurd, but it is democratic in access and most importantly, it’s ours.”

What have the GB got to do with Celtic Nation?

  23. Hamiltontim ok let’s have a discourse on the use of the word ethnic. I haven’t looked up the definition however I take it to mean a group of people. The group that tonydonnely belongs too wants to cleanse the group who question things on here to be sin died. Thus the Ethiopic group of questioners are being cleansed. Does that help?
