Celtic fans get stuck into our reason for being, nomad moot

765

Congratulations to The Kano Foundation for their magnificent fifth annual charity dinner on Saturday.  The Kano story is beyond incredible and a credit to those who call ourselves Celtic fans – whether you are involved with them or not.

Well done also to everyone who participated in the Celtic Foundation Zip Slide across Celtic Park on Saturday, in aid of children’s’ charities.  It was exhilarating and is sure to be repeated.  A weekend without Celtic and hundreds of Celtic fans get stuck into our reason for being.

They can blame the last guys for the lack of commercial revenue streams, or for paying incompetent coaches too much money.  They can even blame them for over-ambition when it came to funding the playing squad, but for all of its short corporate life, Rangers International PLC’s previous board members have been able to produce accounts on time and all received approval from authorised nominated advisers.

If the new board members are unable to deliver a nominated adviser, blaming the old board, as one newspaper tried today: “largely because of the scorched earth policy implemented by the previous board in the last days of the Mike Ashley empire – they must do so before the City shuts down for the Easter holiday”, would be both dishonest and a very worrying (for some) departure from a company which seeks to build its corporate reputation.

This entire question should be moot.  Mike Ashely didn’t need to be on the newco board to exert the control he needed with an 8% share and neither would Dave King.  King could easily take a back seat and appoint trusted men of stature who would breeze the nomad requirements.  We can only speculate as to why King NEEDS to be on the board, and don’t count on anyone who can get close enough to King, or his PR, asking this question.  The entire uncertainty is an unnecessary nonsense.

    Cheers bhoys

Half day on Friday .. Mass at 3pm then was gonna go into Ek to watch the match with a couple of ex workmates

Maybe talk them into the Parkville but as you know that’s no a lucky gig for me :(

  2. So, Cowdenbeath get a home draw against Sevco. A few weeks later, in a relegation struggle, they face Sevco away, with a realistic chance of getting a point.

BUT, their manager, who used to play for Deidco, isn’t present on match day (with the clubs blessing), as he’s involved with Norn Iron, who played the following day. And Cowdenbeath lose.

Respect and tolerance are two qualities the huns do not possess.

Until they learn to i will neither respect or tolerate them.

    Fan-a-tic,

Does that mean you refuse to respect and tolerate Billbear, or any other decent ‘Rangers’ fan?

They’re not all the same, as I’m friends with many ‘Rangers’ men… but they’re not huns. I give everyone a chance, because that’s just me and what I think is right.

Players by and large will not develop while being part of a ‘development squad’. That is not to say they will not play good football at times, including against other development teams from outside Scotland. What it is to say is that few will become good footballers. Tom Rogic is a classic case in point, an example of a player to be ‘developed’, Corporate football at its’finest. I hope I am wrong, but Rogic will never make a Celtic player, no matter how much he is developed.

I haven’t lived in Scotland for 30 years so rarely meet Rangers supporters from my youth who were decent and not huns.

Visit Scotland about once every year and often get my hackles raised by sleekit huns questions.

The mask of decency slips fast when i respond to the what school did you go to.

I am a defiant fenian b and always let those huns know.

IF Celtic got a second team in a lower league what would happen if we met in a cup?

  14. Tambourine Bhoy of 1967 on

If someone calls someone a hun simply for supporting ‘Rangers’ and refusing to respect them simply because they support ‘Rangers’ then I think they need to be looking at themselves.

To me, THAT is worse than being a Rangers fan… and a bit like being a hun.

    With respect,

*thank you, that’s the way I feel, nothing to being a Catholic but more that Scotland is supposed to be a Christian country and Good Friday is the holiest day in the Christian calendar. Although in saying that I can recall working many a GF when living at hame.

I recall one GF when I was still at school and the PP at St Kessog’s, a former teacher at Blair’s who got the ultimate retirement position, saying at the start of the service that games were kicking off down in England with fans cheering at the same time Christians were paying respect to our Saviour.

I can also recall Celtic playing on Shrove Tuesday and my da telling me that we would never dream of playing on Ash Wednesday.

I can’t put my finger on why Ronnie makes me feel confident – anybody else feel like that ?”

Ronny made me feel confident the first time I heard and saw him speak.

It was ,and remains, obvious that this is `a man with plan`. He exudes self-belief in a quiet and controlled fashion that are the hallmarks of genuine confidence.

If this confidence spreads to our support, and it should, we will be a force to be reckoned with.
