Celtic-Juve after two previous tight encounters

1074

Celtic will play Juventus in the last 16 round of the Champions League.  Juve are seven points clear top of the Italian league having won the competition last season without losing a game.  They eliminated reigning European champions, Chelsea, in the last round and finished above a good Shakthar team.

They are remarkably well organised and don’t lose many goals (10 in 17 league games, 7 less than anyone else), but this is a tie Celtic can plan for.  Juventus will present the same kind of challenge Barcelona did in the group stage, but they are not as effective as the Catalans.

Celtic have faced them twice in the European Cup/Champions League previously, winning both home games and losing away on each occasions, controversially in 2001.

I’m up for this one. Fairy-tale story with the lovable Celts the only British representatives in the quarter finals? Loins girded.

  1. Dontbrattbakkinanger – There are many, many more books and TV programmes made about A.Hitler than about Mother Teresa.

Also, Mother Teresa never appeared as the final boss in a computer game. (thumbsup)

I don’t know if the Horribles are ‘evil’, but they are certainly ‘wicked’, which is an excellent if underused description much used by my gran and her pal Mrs Butler.

Posted yesterday on here that Fat Sally was instructed to state he had invested as a ‘fan’ and I wondered who else was lumped into that bracket.

The share issue was an EPIC FAIL! Chuck now has lots of corporate investors who want a return every season.

It will be swept under the carpet by the MSM like everything else about Sevco…

Philvis- I’ll take your word for it.

As no computer game can possibly be better than Subbuteo I fail to see the attraction.

La Spezia v Kilwinning…….hard choice that one :-)

  6. Having sat through some of the poor fare we have seen this season, and recognising the amount of money already in the coffers I had hoped prices may have been on the £30 for St and £17 for concessions.

To set at £37 and £25 is a wee bit rich.

    Give back to the fans?

    You got to be joking.

Very disappointed in PL and co – not fore the first time and almost certainly not the last.

Oh, and remember those booking fees which are ridiculous especially when a debit card used and no fee to Vias / Mastercard.

No matter, ticket will be booked.

  13. What are the rules about tapping up players? Is it only in the last six months of a contract that other clubs can approach a player without his current employer’s permission?

Someone should be watching The Rangers closely when they talk about possible targets for the future.

  14. Hamiltontim.

Did you see my post last night re the bars I said we could have a drink in,The two bars I chose don’t allow colours to be displayed,it’s not an anti Celtic thing, they just don’t want the hassle.if you have colours on we can go elsewhere,no problem for me.

  15. jimmci I see no reson why loyalty could not be rewarded with give away prices.

There are not too distant examples in England of £10/£15 tickets sold by clubs who had won a once in a generation tilt at Europe.

neilymochan my connection is educational rather then familial. Both sides of the desk. The old Xaverians are a warm family extending out. Thanks for the welcome.

Is it not the case that nearly all the Italian-Scots have their roots in a geographically small area of Italy?

suggestion is sallys “investment” was in return for monies owed from the salary deferrment, chuckles green had stated publicy and I think confirmed by the pie monster himself that he was in fact a share holder,

  18. Gordon_J backing Neil Lennon – Does Sevco need to tap up players?

Surely they can get the Daily Record to do it for them, running stories describing the objects of Sevco’s affections as a “want-away star” who has issued a “come-and-get-me plea”, and then warn the club concerned that “Charles Green will not be held to ransom” when they don’t accept Sevco’s derisory first offer.

    (thumbsup)

  19. oldtim67 I went to a pub in Islington with a couple of fellow Scots.

  21. Just in, just saw the draw. Said all along just happy to be in the last 16. If we get thru, would love to play the winner of Porto vs Malaga. What’s the script with Hooper? Is this a deliberate ‘bad news for celtic on the day of the draw’ scheme. Or is he wanting to go?

  22. Looking at our fixtures on the official CFC site, we travel to Inverness 3 days before we host The Old Lady. Our league fixture before we travel to Turin is away to Motherwell on the previous Wednesday. It looks like the weekend before Turin is reserved for internationals. Anyone know?

A load of Zagreb fans went to Munich in 03 to support us. They were in a beer keller the night before the game, watching I think oldco v stuttgart on tv. They said they’d travelled there in a beat up old bus. Their love for CFC was impressive. Crackin big guys they were.
