CELTIC have signed Australian wonderkid Leo Mazis.

The 17-year-old Canberra-born attacking midfielder joins the champions’ youth set-up having agreed a three-year deal following a successful trial.

Mazis flew to Scotland for the first time in October for a two-week trial with Tommy McIntyre’s Development Squad and his performances in training were enough to earn him a contract with the Hoops.
He joins from Belconnen United who play in Canberra’s National Premier League and is now eligible to play for his new club after receiving his visa clearance.
Speaking exclusively to the Celtic website, Mazis said: “It was unbelievable when I got the call to say Celtic were offering me a contract.
“It’s always been my dream to play football at the highest level and Celtic are a massive club, so I’m over the moon with this opportunity.”
Mazis has now settled in the country and is already enjoying training with the rest of the Development Squad.
He added: “Training has been unbelievable so far. I’ve loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to play some games.

“All the boys have been great with me, so I’m settling in well and coaches have been fantastic. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

“My dream is to one day play for the first team, but obviously right now, I’m only concentrating on just getting settled and getting game time in the Development Squad.

“I need to take things a step at a time.”
