Celtic targeting the young player demographic

219

Notwithstanding the fact that we have only completed two Bosman transfers from Sheffield Wednesday, there is a consistency between them and the plethora of under contract players we have been linked with.  They are in their late teens or early 20s, everyone with growth potential.

Given the season just ended that strategy feels like it would have been a good idea 12 months ago.  Then, we signed David Turnbull from that demographic, although it would be half a season before he was properly introduced in the first team.  Risks about whatever way you spend your money but this strategy should always be high on the agenda.

    One for you pal.

Mrs Crosbie, Gerry’s mammy, is the CEO of Gerry Cinnamon. Gerry’s sister runs the office.

    He refuses a record contract.

The Castlemilk Bob Dylan has done good.

  2. Petec,

Yes, really looking forward to a crowded Parkhead soon.

Of course there will be individual choice. If some don’t want to attend for whatever reason then that is their perogative.

A few hours in the Hoops bar on Saturday night gave me a flavour of what we’re missing

Incidentally, can you imagine the outcry if our ” Tory” board had accepted emergency government money then paraded multi million pound signings.?

    HH.

  3. I remember at one of the AGM’s Brian Quinn pointing out that the financials incoming to the club from UEFA were welcome but that they were gross as the bonuses given to the players and coaching staff eat up a large portion of the UEFA money. He also stated that the club was happy to pay out these bonuses as they were indicative of our success on the field.

Celtic income is hard to calculate as clauses such as the Dembele and Tierney add on top ups are impossible to calculate as is the outgoing payment to PSG for Edouard transfer fee.

No doubt that the North curve group and the like will continue to annoy UEFA and result on the club being further fined and possible part closures. These fines are progressive and are increased in amount in line with previous fines. These will become significant.

When CL and EL payments depend on performance then maybe 5 points in a more difficult CL group could be balanced against 10 points in an EL group

All in all without access to Celtic club finances details then the figures quoted have to be guesswork.

I also expect Celtic commercials are well ahead of Sevco, Shirt sponsorship Adidas will be significantly higher than Castore, Magners and Dafabet much more than 32red. Catering and hospitality earnings at Sevco were sold off to Close Brothers.

We also have 10,000 more seats giving us 20% advantage over Sevco.

I just hope that Ange can motivate a disgruntled squad of players who wouldn’t play for Lennon or Kennedy.

  4. Guys is it the same pass for paradise details as last year if we keep the same seats?

Tried logging in there and saying not recognised, I see the Charlton friendly on Saturday is on it.

    D :)

  5. One of the many reasons the Huns are getting money is ,Take Parks of Hamilton ,His Buses are running to Glasgow and Edinburgh obviously he is getting grants from the Scottish Government as well from the SFA and clubs like our own who hire there coaches, and I don’t suppose they are freebies,.Hopefully McKay can change that ,and let’s be honest that mob over at Greyskull no way would they hire a bus that was linked to Celtic or a Supporter .

Hopefully the Club will communicate the login details etc – they did it for every individual match last season. 🤞🙏

It is Amazing how Big one so Little can become. Gerry is Genuine and Never selling out anything to Anyone.

    That is Truly incredible.

A reasonable campaign in the CL groups would net them under £20m from Uefa payouts

For us in the Europa League the payout would be between 6 & 7m

Deduct associated costs and the difference between CL and EL participation wouldn’t be much more than 10m IMO

  9. So they’ve qualified for the CL group stage and we haven’t – must have missed the qualifying matches – when did that happen.

  10. Greenpinata,

If I was just a wee bit less of a Wanker it is indeed a Raphael Van Der Vaart.

I Hope Gerry plays Celtic Park at Sometimes in the Future.

I’d like Scotland to do well as well. FTSFA until they start…….. oh no

The SFA is Dark and demented.

  11. The Huns are running with the same Life or Death shit that disnae belong in the Football that I know.

    Football is about enjoyment.

Ange, I hope, will Empower our Cracking players already here.

Gerry is a self confessed Castlemilk Hash dealer, who used to smoke all his profit.

    Sold out Hampden.

You would have loved his gig in Melk Weg Amsterdam. The air was thick and atmosphere electric.

  13. Garry,

I never liked smoking, I just went a bit harder Dr.Ugs Bach in the Davie Hay.

As Auldheid says wait and see if our Generation of Domination was in vain.

  14. Sorry bit pissed off with what they can , will , might do ………couldn’t give a flying monkeez .

Its what we will . can ,might do I’m more interested in .

  15. Bhoys .

In addition to CL payments from UEFA .

There is an additional circa £20 m for tickets sales ,hospitality, food etc.

    There’s TV revenues as well.

£40 to £ 45 M in gross income is very likely.

    TT

  16. Marspapa 7.11

Here’s what we will do .

We will only spend slightly more than we raise in transfer fees.

Once we have established whether it is CL ,El ,or neither.

We will then decide on what level of loan player we want to attract.

    Nothing has changed .

The business plan remains the same.

PL is still in the building .

Dermot is still calling the shots.

That day in Paisley is probably my favourite ever Celtic game I attended.

Can remember every detail of that day.

It seemed like every Tim from Yoker, Knightswood and Clydebank was on the Renfrew Ferry that day. Magical

Yes spot on…..just in the door and happen to scroll back.

    Celtic Still.

  19. Delaneys Dunky on

We walked from Love Street to Renfrew after the game, lead by the Crazy Brazy Bhoys fae Whitecrook. Blasting out the tunes in the Royal Burgh of Renfrew was a joy. The huns awe hidin.

The rendition of Sailing on the Ferry was great.

    Guess what?

Yoker was hoaching wi Polis, waiting on us.

  20. If Celtic and that other mob both qualify for CL of even EL, dont they share half the tv pool money each ?

  21. celticforever on

danny played a big part in maybe the best team goal ive ever seen at love street that day

pity la petite merde was the scorer

  22. SAINT STIVS on 5TH JULY 2021 7:44 PM

The TV pool money is included in the < £20m figure. It’s paid by uefa with the participation fee, the performance fee and the co-efficient amount, not as a separate amount

Iirc it’s distributed on the basis of the value of the tv deal in each territory and then divided by the number of participating clubs in that territory.

It is worth much less than it used to be – the big 2 Spanish clubs were sick of seeing English teams go out of the tournament early but earn more than them. It now makes up a third of what it used to, with the other two-thirds being a payment based on performance in European competition over the ten previous years. Any payment to the Huns would be much less than a few years ago.

  23. at the clyde lions last game, did they come down the terrace in the same order they walked out in lisbon ?

was that a thing for them, a particular order depending on who is picked > superstitions and aw that

    anyone ?

  24. TINYTIM on 5TH JULY 2021 3:52 PM

“The usual suspects will be on lambasting me .”

TT I wouldn`t think so. It seems to me that `lambasting` is usually levelled at those whose EVERY post is a criticism of Celtic. You don`t fall into that category.

Was at that game v Clyde.

Remember my mammy making a big fuss that day because it was the last time we would see the Lions.

Think we got conned, because Ronnie didnae play.
