Just back home from Lisbon, Easyjet flight to Edinburgh. Just to advise that a man travelling on his own took poorly on the flight not long after take off. Aircraft had to divert to
Nantes where the man and his hand luggage were taken off by paramedics. Hope and pray he makes a full recovery. Special mention to flight crew and passengers who attended to this man and did the best they could in the circumstances. Just wanted to advise in case anyone knew of this man and had wondered of his whereabouts. Lots of Celts on the flight, but appears this passenger was unknown to any of them.

Good morning CQN from a grey, cool but still dry East Devon.
Re the assault on KT, all the so called pundits Said that the thug Stokley had a history of this kind of attack, in the next breath they were defending him, unbelievable.
weebawbabitty on
Morning , feeling great this morning wonder why . Going to a wee quiz tonight thought of a good wee name THE INVINCIBLES
I was always suspicious when they said they had sold all their tickets, yet didn’t take the extra 1,000 or so they could have. No doubt, somewhere along the line it will be spun that it was, something to do with Celtic.
The same as SFA saying Celtic fans chose not to have TIFO.
Press sickening me trying to defend Stockley, he knew what he was doing and fair play to Steven Thomson who said so. Stubbs hugely disappointing with his comments, clearly must need money.
As for Madden, I bang on about this regularly, leave out Celtic for a minute, Scottish football will never improve when we have referees like him. He proudly stated at his pre match media suck up, that his stats are great,as he has awarded less fouls and given out less cards than anyone else. All that means is he is incompetent. He refs in a way that is no longer relevant to modern football, he allows tackles that anywhere else in the world are awarded as fouls. It always industrial players like Stockley and Garner to damage opponents. The more skilful players are kicked out the game or are assaulted like K.T and thuggish players know when Madden is the ref they will get away with it. It doesn’t say a lot for Fleming the man in charge of the refs either.
Any way today we are still invincible.

Anyway yesterday was a great day (eventually). Aberdeen shaded the first half but we were much better in second half. I was beginning to wonder whether momentum would switch if it went to extra time but no worries.
End of my 50th season as an active supporter and felt a bit emotional in the pub later on.
Mucked up tickets for today so an afternoon vegetating on couch for me alas.

Have to laugh at the Record’s player ratings :-
Celtic starting 11 scored 63 with the 2 subs adding 7 and 1 to that total.
Aberdeen’s starting 11 scored 74 with 2 subs scoring 4 and 4

…………………
SFTB,
A few years ago in the Daily rectum.Hugh Keevins had his Celtic match report. Down one side of his report was the assessments of both teams. Celtic’s ratings were lower than the opposition, even though Celtic had won the game.
I remember contacting Keevins thru his RAG, and asking him about his “contradiction” between his match report and his player ratings ?
This was his response to my question, ” I didn’t write the player ratings, it was a colleague” !
i then asked him ” Are you telling me that your paper has one ” writer” to write match reports, and another who MAY NOT have even seen the game ………to assess player ratings” ?
“If so, How does that work, cos I can NOT possibly assess a movie if I have never watched that movie ?
Mr Keevins replied, ” I don’t know”.
Sums it all up really.
I have another more personal story of how the Daily Rectum compile Celtic match Reports, thats for another thread.

The Scotsman: MOIRA GORDON
A bolt of lightning lit up the sky above Hampden’s East Stand as the ball was played to Tom Rogic. It marked a key moment in what has been an electrifying season for Celtic.
The Australian slotted the ball past Joe Lewis two minutes into injury time, lifting his team to new heights and leaving a shocked Aberdeen in the depths of despair.
“It opened up for me and then it was all just a blur. I can’t really remember what happened after that,” said the Australian, who had entered the fray in the 27th minute for the injured Kieran Tierney.
“It was a bit of a five-a-side finish with my right peg. I didn’t know there was a lightning bolt just as I scored. Maybe it was meant to be!
“It’s hard to describe what it feels like to score a goal like that and then go and jump into the crowd. It’s impossible to really put it into words and do it justice but it’s probably the best feeling you can have on the football pitch.
“It feels pretty good, in fact it’s an amazing feeling. It hasn’t really sunk in yet. For everyone, it’s been a perfect end to what has been a special season for all of us. To go unbeaten domestically, to get the treble… it’s just amazing. It’s something that we will look back on forever.”
Only the fourth time in Celtic’s illustrious history that a team has netted the full haul of major domestic honours, the fact they kept pushing for the winner deep into injury time to clinch it illustrated the collective desire and drive that has rendered them invincible.
“We would rather have won the game 3-0 or something instead of waiting until the last minute,” added Rogic, “but when you get the goal that late, it makes it even sweeter. We got our reward in the end.”
For Scott Sinclair, the rewards this term have been plentiful, but the attacker – who was voted the Player of the Year by his club, the football writers and his fellow professionals – believes that if the squad can be kept together, they can set even loftier targets for next term.
“How do we build on that? We can only do it again. We go and celebrate as a team, but when we get to next season, we want to build in the Champions League and progress in that competition,” said Sinclair.
“The season has turned out better than I expected, much better actually. When I spoke to the manager he said come up here, be happy and play every week. I’m enjoying my football, and there’s nothing better than to pick up trophies and personal awards along the way.”
The fact the season was crowned off in the same week that the Lisbon Lions celebrated the 50th anniversary of their European Cup success offered the current crop an incentive to round off their record-breaking year in style and ensure themselves a modicum of that legendary status.
“Those guys are legends, but hopefully we can build as a team, keep going year by year, keep winning things and keep a tight group together,” added Sinclair.
“Going into the game, we knew what was at stake. It was one last game, and it was one of those edgy games, but after half an hour we picked the game up and went on from there.”
The players all admitted to nerves as their campaign reached its denouement, with Mikael Lustig claiming they struggled with the enormity of being presented with the opportunity to stake their place in history, and captain Scott Brown confessing there was a stage in the match when he feared the story may not have the fairytale ending. That was in the ninth minute, when Johnny Hayes netted first for Aberdeen. “But we then go straight up the park and score,” the skipper said of the 11th-minute retort. “Stuart Armstrong scored and he’s been doing that all season for us; scored, created chances and driven us on from midfield. It was a great finish.
“The fact it went down to the last few minutes sums us up. But when you go back to that first game in Gibraltar, I don’t think anyone would have expected this; for us to go all the way through the season undefeated and to win three trophies. That’s phenomenal.”

Graeme Shinnie forgives Mikael Lustig for Celtic celebration
MOIRA GORDON
Graeme Shinnie said he had forgiven Mikael Lustig after the Swede’s celebrations threatened to boil over into a Hampden set to.
The Aberdeen captain was unimpressed when Tom Rogic’s late Scottish Cup winner sparked scenes of wild celebration in the Celtic ranks after a fiercely contested finale to a season where the Pittodrie side have been second best in every domestic competition.
“It’s never nice having someone celebrating in your face when they win it in the last minute, but I guess that’s football and you have to take it. To be fair, he came over and apologised so there’s no hard feelings there for me. I’m a big enough man to take that. They’ve won the treble and they deserve to celebrate.
“I think he just got caught up in the moment and I think I was in the wrong place at the wrong time when the whistle went and they are naturally going to celebrate. I would do it myself if I was in that position so there’s no hard feelings there.”
But emotions were raw as Derek McInnes’ men were forced to settle for another runners up medal despite pushing Celtic all the way in the battle for the final piece of silverware.
“Naturally everyone was gutted in the dressing room, you could see that when we were on the pitch after the game. But we have to try to reflect on the season and realise it has been a good one for us – it’s just a hard way to end it,” said the man who replaced Rangers-bound Ryan Jack as captain. “The whole season has been about progressing, and obviously next season we want to go a step further and actually win silverware. We’re keeping the core of the team. In football you’re going to lose people, that’s what happens but I have all the faith in the manager to replace them with quality.”
He also believes that the gaffer will turn down any overtures from Sunderland to remain at Aberdeen.
“His whole focus is here. He’s done a remarkable job rebuilding the club from where they were when he took over to where they are now, and he’ll keep looking to build on that. That’s the kind of guy he is. He always strives to do as well as he can and make the team as good as it can be.”
“The way we played today, having Celtic rattled at points, proves that we are the team to challenge them.”
The frustration was that they could not take the chances when it mattered yesterday. Squandering their early lead within two minutes, and passing up other openings.
The best of those came from a Johnny Hayes breakaway but he could not link up with Kenny McLean. “When you go through two on one like we did your eyes light up,” said the Irishman. ”I haven’t seen it back yet but I think I should have done better, I could have taken the shot on myself and it’s something that will probably stick with me for the rest of the summer.
“Was it a turning point? I don’t really know because I can’t really remember what went on for the last 25 to 30 minutes. But there were times when we could have nicked a second goal and there were times we hung on in there for our lives.
“We were just getting ourselves mentally prepared for extra time and then they hit us with a sucker punch. It’s a tough one to take because that’s the cruellest way to lose a cup final.
A few pages back, I posted that Brendan never saw what Stockely did to KT, as he was arguing with the 4th official about Celtic NOT getting the free kick when Griff was fouled by Reynolds further up the touchline, seconds earlier.
That so called ” Aberdeen Throw In”…is what directly led to to assault on KT.
I haven’t seen Brendans interview yet about the assault, but usually Brendan will say IF he hasn’t seen something in real time, he can’t comment ?

Kieran Tierney set to miss England clash with broken jaw
The Scotsman; DAVID GUNN
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers revealed Kieran Tierney could require an operation on his mouth after being injured during their dramatic 2-1 William Hill Scottish Cup final win over Aberdeen.
The 19-year-old required lengthy treatment midway through the first half after being caught by Aberdeen striker Jayden Stockley’s arm and had to be replaced by Tom Rogic, who scored an injury-time winner.
The full-back is now a major doubt for Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against England at Hampden on June 10.
On his official Twitter account, the Celtic defender wrote: “Worth a broken jaw haha”, which accompanied photographs of him sitting in the dressing room holding the trophy.
Rodgers said: “His mouth is a bit swollen. He may need an operation on his mouth. He is still here and got his medal.
“I think the teeth had come through the palate in the top of his mouth. I can’t imagine how sore that is so he’ll need some sort of protective surgery.
“He’ll need a specialist to look at it, so I don’t want to rule him in or out (of the England game).”
Tierney went to hospital for some initial treatment, but returned just in time to collect his medal and lift the trophy.
Team-mate Patrick Roberts, who had taken Tierney’s number 63 shirt up to the podium before his close friend returned, said: “He said he was at hospital at half-time so when the final whistle went and he wasn’t there, with him being Mr Celtic himself, he’d want to be there.
“The fans love him to bits – he’s the golden boy – so I thought I’d get his shirt and show them he’s a big part of Celtic.
“He got back just in time to go to the podium. I’m glad he came back and I’m glad he’s okay. He’s a tough cookie.”
Defender Dedryck Boyata was surprised to see Tierney return.
“Yeah, because I heard he’d lost two teeth – but he said there he had a broken jaw as well,” the Belgian said.
“You see his character, he wanted to be back for all of us and everything is fine.
“He’s a fighter, we all know it. Him coming back with two teeth less and a broken jaw, it just tells you what kind of person he is.”
No action was taken against Stockley, who was sent off against Rangers earlier this month after twice catching players with his arm.
Rodgers said:
“My initial reaction is that is twice it is happened because he (Tierney) took a heavy elbow up at Pittodrie in the game we won 3-1.
“He was down and out for a while in that game. It is a difficult one because when two players are running that can happen.
“But for it to happen again… I don’t want to comment too much because I need to see it again.
“I’m just surprised the officials, and especially the fourth official, didn’t see it and there was nothing done on it.”

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is humble after Scottish Cup win… and Kieran Tierney’s in agony
The Sunday Post Author: Danny Stewart,
BRENDAN RODGERS last night insisted the Invincible Treble was only just the start of his work at Celtic.
Thanks to Tom Rogic’s last-gasp strike, the Northern Irishman is now one of only three Hoops bosses to have completed the domestic clean sweep.
Jock Stein, twice, – in 1967 and 1969 – and Martin O’Neill in 2001 are the exalted company he now sits alongside.
“It’s a huge honour, given what they achieved,” Rodgers admitted.
“You see how difficult it is. You see the great history of the club and the great managers, the players who have been here before me.
“It’s still a very difficult thing to do.
“So to have achieved that in our first season, alongside everything else that we have done, is very humbling.
“I still get a funny feeling. It doesn’t sit quite right with me when you think about it.
“Jock was a real pioneer and led the club the way he wanted it to go, and Martin did an incredible job here.
“History will judge me. I’ve only just begun really.
“When I leave here, people will look at what I did.
“It’s been truly enjoyable and a privilege to manage this club. It’s a real special feeling.”
If mention of Stein and O’Neill put a lump in his throat, Rodgers also found it tough to sufficiently thank his players.
“What they have done has been a monumental achievement, one which I don’t think will ever be repeated,” he said.
“It’s very difficult for me to describe it at this moment – but what the players have done is make history.
“The league has been fantastic, competitive. We’ve had to be at our best, which is why I push the players in training every day.
“We’ve come through a league campaign unbeaten and this was always going to be tough.
“I wanted to impose a clear identity on how we played and we’ve created that.
“Now we can build from that.
“We’ve shown that from this way of working, you have something tangible to show for it.
“So we’ll go away now, some of the players will rest, some have international games, but we’ll be back in again and we’ll look to go again.”
Kieran Tierney, though, is a doubt for Scotland’s clash with England on June 10 as a result of the knock to the mouth he took from Aberdeen striker Jayden Stockley.
“His mouth’s swollen and he may need an operation,” reported Rodgers
“I think his teeth came from the palate of his mouth.
I can’t imagine how sore that is, so he is going to need some protective work on that and will need a specialist to look at that.
“In terms of England, I don’t want to rule him in or out.”
Rodgers was likewise cautious on the question of whether referee Bobby Madden should have taken action against Stockley.
“I would have to see it again,” he said.
“My initial reaction is that is twice it has happened because Kieran took a heavy elbow up at Pittodrie in the game we won 3-1.
“He was down and out for a while in that game.
“It is a difficult one because when two players are running that can happen.
“But for it to happen again . . .
“I don’t want to comment too much because I need to see it again.”

Any way today we are still invincible.

morning All
Tried posting last night from my phone but kept telling me phone was hacked – only on this site getting message. Saved you reading my verbose drivel then
Anyway yesterday was a great day (eventually).

Aberdeen’s starting 11 scored 74 with 2 subs scoring 4 and 4
Scores from the hurting hunny were:-
…………………
SFTB,
A few years ago in the Daily rectum.Hugh Keevins had his Celtic match report.
