  3. Mike in Toronto on

    Hello lads

Stuck in the office waiting for a call … so catching up on my CQN reading … decided to throw my two cents worth in…

I dont think the problem is the players we have sold, or the players we have bought …. I think the squad is decent … we have bought in good players …. sure, a top class finisher to replace GH would be nice… but the players/squad we have, properly marshalled, should win the SPL by 30 points, and should be competitive in Europe (I didn’t say win… I said compete).

I’m not sure the Balde will be a world beater, but I think the criticism of him is unfair … he was sent up alone today, got little or no service … except diagonal balls from the full backs…. and is expected to do what exactly? What were his instructions?

What system do we play? Is it a ball retention style (a la Barca), a pacy counterattacking game with pacy wingers ….

Frankly, I would give anything if someone could explain to me the ‘system’ NFL wants the team to play…

Before the next person criticizes the players ….. if someone is going to say ‘player x didn’t do ____’…. will someone please explain to me what ‘system’ we are playing, so that I know what the players are supposed to be doing, and judge the player accordingly …..

Most of the time, it doesn’t look to me like they are given any direction on how to play….

If that is the case, we can hardly fault the players if they aren’t being given proper direction.

If owners are fair game for questioning (and they are), and players are fair game (they also are), our coaching staff also have to be able to bear scrutiny.

If the big mhan don’t hit 30 goals I’ll chip in a score for the bet

    —————–

Sure someone above took your bet, if not I’ll cover the other 3

  6. the_huddle,

if we count you,patrick27 and burghbhoy as 3 I only need 2 others to get the £100,

channelislandcelt has taken half of my payment, dont want anyone out a fortune.

burghbhoy 15 goals is the bet so if he scores more you pay,if he scores less I pay, good mhan

  7. I thought Balde actually played quite well. There was no service whatsoever from midfield. The only tactic we seemed to have was punting the ball over the defense for a forward to run on to. (It nearly worked well once with a great pass from Mulgrew.) Otherwise we were outpassed and outplayed. They were far better.

  8. pfayr,

BT’s the mhan to see right enough.

Winning captains, the only negativity I seen on those games was by people on here, it’s the only place I go to to get Celtic news.

The mulgrew pass to tony watt put him past the keeper. .. who cleaned him out with a waist high tackle which should have been a red card

Mr thomson decided .. yellow … shockeroony

We carried an article in CQN Magazine last season which was titled Who Booed Wee Fergus? Lots of fans had given frank views on this and many admitted they did and were wrong. The booing was caused – it was agreed – mostly be a calculated campaign in the MSM to undermine what Fergus was achieving. CF’s has been telling us about the Media House manipulation of the media this very week and yet we seem to never learn.

    ========

It is well beyond the time that Fergus is invited back.

Honouring John Keane next week is well deserved and Fergus should be by his side and, if not, then find another appropriate time to honour the Bunnet.

  14. the huddle,

As was said a moment ago, Mulgrew put him straight through this afternoon. The goalkeeper took him out. Red card every day of the week. Mr Thompson gave a yellow. First honest mistake of the season. I would have fancied him to score. I think he has the ability, like Sammi. I wonder seriously about his temperament. He was balling the odds at the younger lhads from the word go today.

    the huddle,

Sammi was pilloried on here and elsewhere because many thought he had no ability.

    ——–

Nahh Sammy was never pilloried for lacking ability, we all seen his early days, that’s why he was pilloried. He set the bar high and we all expected that to be the norm.

Every player is like that, set the bar low and us fans don’t expect much.

  16. Mike..,

Never saw the game, maybe Neil sent them out with the message go and enjoy yourselves, with the intention to see how the players sorted themselves out, looking for football brains, I read earlier the new big CH done a lot of talking trying to organise the defence, to me that’s someone with a football brain, great sign, wonder who else showed Neil they had a football brain ?

  17. the_huddle,

I posted a long time ago that I heard his time was up after a bust up with Lenny,

seems that’s not the case,if he gets enough game time I think he will do well for us,

    particularly away from home

    the huddle

whilst i think tony watt will find his level and score goals, dont think his level will be celtic. sincerely hope i’ve got it wrong tho. wouldn’t be a first by a stretch

  19. Dreadful stuff from Charlotte tonight. Hugely damaging to the BBC…

McLean and Nevin’s performance was always a WTF moment – a total departure from BBC policy. Now I guess we know why.

There are good people at the BBC. Mark Daly and his team among them.

But there are clearly some who are easily biddable or easily bought.

There is also the matter of RFC employing a PR agency to run what looks like a dirty tricks campaign against a fellow club. In any normal country, this would be a clear case of bringing the game into disrepute. In Scotland, the corruptest little country in the world – I doubt it ill even be worthy of comment by the authorities.

Finally, Celtic. At what point do we move from the back, to the front, of the bus?

Yes I think he has what it takes. Needs a sustained run this season.

Indeed mate, but sits very uncomfortably with me, and takes a bit of the soul out of the club. Sincerely hope the club step up to the mark, and as Italiabhoy so eloquently states ” Finally, Celtic. At what point do we move from the back, to the front, of the bus?” Could not have put it better myself Italiabhoy.
