  1. 16 roads - Neil Lennon walks on water. on

    I have faith and trust in Neil Lennon and our players.

    Our team is better than those turnips anyway,no dis-respect to them.

    That’s all there is to it.

  2. The strange thing I find with Balde (and Bang Bang before him), I’ve watched them both and they struggle to control the ball. That’s something you can’t teach a player, you either have it or not.

    Sure you can teach a player fitness, speed, desire, positional sense, tactics but you can’t teach them to trap a ball.

    the butterfly thing. butterflys have appeared regulary at funerals om my mothers side of the family. believe it or not my uncle eordie was buried in november and one appeared in the chapel (in linwood st brendans mibbe?) since then i’ve held a kinda spiritual connection with them

  4. Re: Balde

    I was at Larsson’s debut and he was terrible. The first thing he did in a celtic strip was to give away a goal. He was just average for the next few months, nothing special, ….. then look what we had.

    Larsson’s days was before the consumerism ..I want every thing now and I mean yesterday mentality.

    I wonder what opinion/judgement would have been passed on Larsson in his first months at Celtic if he made the same impression today as his first few months.

    Mind you Larson had an advantage in that he spoke perfect English when he arrived. Balde can hardly speak a word of English so settling down into things at Celtic/new team mates, doing the everyday day to day living which requires that he communicates with whoever he is dealling with is a challenge. Without friends and family , he can’t even go to a team mate to hang out after training … as they would hardly understand each other. An awkward visit I would think. ( I have lived abroad where I did not know the lingo … but fortunately most speak English and that was still hard).

    Kevin Wilson who came up from down the road has stated how he struggled to settle in his first season, and he is English and can at worse talk to someone in the street.

    Give the young lad a chance…. Lenon and Park scouted him and was impressed enough to buy him as one of their key purchases. If he fails …it probably will not be due to lack of talent but inability to settle.

    We that are supposed to be supporters will only help him to settle quicker by giving him support rather than passing a snap judgement. Celtic on their part, I am sure, would have given him a language translator/assistance as well as language coach to assist him in learning English.

    At the moment he probably have not got the grasp of basic English codes used in a footbal field: dummy; swich ball left, man-on etc. Hence at the moment it is like fighting with one hand tied behind your back for him. Any football decision that requires that he hears what is being said by his team mates on the field of play is out of his current game.

    Before the ones that go on holiday abroad only to complain that the “..locals do not speak English…” start questioning why he should not have learnt English… how many second language do any of us speak apart from English (badly).

    Give any Celtic new recruit a chance … in Balde’s case I expect that he may need at least a season ..( it took Kevin Wilson a season to settlle even though he can easily communicate with people around him as well as manage the day to day stuff without an interpreter. Again this guy does not speak a word of English).

    I too wrote a letter of complaint to the BBC following the comments of McLean and Nevin, but to no avail.

    In my opinion the DR, Sun, Herald, Scotsman etc. can write anything they want. Radio Clyde can say anything it wants. They are commercial organisations that will be judged by the market – they will ultimately wither on the vine if no one reads or listens to their product (and more fool any Celtic fan who does).

    The BBC is a different matter altogether. None of us has a choice when it comes to paying for their product. I was extremely disappointed by the Club’s response (or lack thereof) to the comments of McLean and Nevin. Indeed, I have been pretty underwhelmed by their lack of comment as the corruption inScottish football has become blatantly apparent over the past couple of years.

    Given what CF has published this evening it will be a dereliction of duty if the Board do not pursue this and the BBC at the very least is forced to issue a public apology to Celtic Football Club and its supporters.

  6. Nah, if you knew football then you’d have seen Henke playing in the World Cup. He was a player that had a bad debut, we can all accept that.

    I’m talking about a player that can’t control a ball, Bangura was like this last year and now Balde. Seems strange that our scouts see something in these types of players.

  7. We knew our two best players were going this season.

    What preparations were done? Very little, as far as I can see.

    There were two players going a’begging, Johnny Russell and John Daly. Daly may not be the quickest but he can play striker or centre half, and by God he can header a ball.

    We could have bought the two for maybe just under 2m.

    But we end up with Balde, a dud for more money.

  8. the huddle

    So if I were a billionaire , does that mean I could not gift Celtic money for the express reason of player purchase coz the club is a PLC

    Could I not even give an interest free loan?

  9. Bobby Murdochs Ankle on

    Keep hearing guys on here saying we need to sign a top class striker and play maker, while saying the league is crap.

    Think about it, how we going to get top class players to come here, that’s why were bringing in potential.

    Edb, hope your well.

    Just back from watching the second episode of David Starkey’s Music and Monarchy series on BBC2. Fascinating stuff, and well worth catching up on. First episode took it all the way through the Tudors, the Elizabethan age to the Stuarts, the second, James VI, (or 1st) all the way to the death of er King Billy. I’ll tell you one thing, nobody but nobody will ever remember the music at his funeral. What is interesting, and no it is not an original debate, is how political religious, or royal music was, or came to be, over the ages when some of the greatest music was created. Songs debate? Not even close!

  11. Burghbhoy

    Nope, we have shares for a reason. It’s a PLC.

    I think the only way round it would be some sort of sponsorship deal, Celtic PLC have DD on our shirts for £50mill a year.

  12. Burghbhoy

    Of course you could …you can do what you want with your own money

    Another line in BS …

  13. 16 roads - Neil Lennon walks on water. on

    the_huddle – Good point.

    I watched Danny McGrain trying to coach him during the half time interval at Solitude,just basic work with the football,but I don’t want to be critical.

    Some players of African can be like that – poor technique and control,but they can make up for it with power and pace.

    Far too early to judge the lad.

    Whomever scouted No Bangura must have had his drink spiked with an acid tab.

    Even on his YouTube video,Mo looked rubbish.

  14. Sorry- I was born in 1972- hardly missed a game from 1978-2010

    In my life this is the best I have felt as a Celtic fan.

    The approval rating for our custodians from Celtic fans who live within 50 miles from Paradise and have to work and live here- 99.99999%

    If we had an owner, CEO and/or manager who thought the best way to run the club was spending £20m on players I would be demonstrating in the car park.

    We will be here FOREVER because we have guys like Quinn, McCann, John Keane and Peter Lawwell.

    Thank goodness we don’t listen to the Daily Record readers on here who could work for Jack Irvine.

    Please explain “dud”.

  19. It appears to me that this site is under sustained attack from Huns & Trolls. The problem is if these guys get attacked “fair play” genuine Tims will defend their right to express their “opinion” and the mayhem continues. I honestly can’t imagine a genuine Tim bemoaning the fact that we didn’t sign Jon Daly. This site is far superior to the likes of The Bears Den but the one thing these guys do right is, if they cop on a guy is a Tim on the wind up they ban him. Here Huns can continue to sow their Darnel with impunity.

  20. Ok forget the signings but is anyone concerned about the type of football Lenny wants to play?

    We’ve all been brought up with the Celtic way but anyone concerned that we aren’t that great to watch anymore?

    I know it’s petty, cos results are all that matters but apart from Commons we don’t have one magic player in our squad.

  21. Yeah i was going to put Sammy in there as well but wanted to make it more dramatic :o)

    I think we should all write FOI requests to the BBC- stir it up- as Bob Marley used to say

    _________________________

    Someone with the right words could draw up a quick letter asking the proper questions in relation to F.O.I, post it on here as a draft and then we should send as many copies and Emails as we can to the bbc.

    They as a public body are surley obliged to reply to each request.

    anything is better than doing nothing

  23. leftclicktic on

    Two posts from TSFM site

    #Briefing-gate is potentially as damaging as Dougiegate. No club should have the ability to brief the National Broadcaster in a way designed to damage it’s main competitor.

    The BBC asks staff to sign a declaration with regards to any external business interests or relationships that their staff have with customers/suppliers/direct competitors of the BBC. They clearly take very seriously any conflict of interest. This applies right up to the Director General.

    Given the publicly funded nature of the BBC and the wonderful reputation it has worldwide, I hope they do not decide to ignore this. I would endorse Auldheid when he suggests that those who took the considerable time and trouble to write to the BBC on the “sectarian singing ” issue originally to make their respondents aware of this new information.

    —————————–

    1 Was there a briefing from Media House of what constitutes pro ira songs, or songs of a sectarian nature

    If yes,

    2 why did the BBC consent to a briefing from Rangers on a matter which didn’t concern them and would be correctly construed by them as an attempt to damage another club

    3 Who reported the alleged pro ira singing

    4 was that person involved in the briefing with media house, or instructed by anyone involved in the briefing with media house

    5 has media house ever briefed the BBC against any other Club or business on behalf of Rangers

    6 what is the bbc guideline in relation to briefing by PR agents, and did the briefing by media house fall inside or outside of those guidelines

    7 does the bbc react to negative pr briefings which are designed to damage competitors of the company paying the PR agent

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I wonder how many of Barca’s questions could be asked and answered under FOI? Certainly 1, 5 & 6.
