  1. Gene- Broad on earlier….playing spinner to get more overs in,8 guys round the bat,not seen that since the days of A.P.E. Knott

  2. Gene- it was a slow scoring pitch,so agree that a few more overs would have helped, ironic that Smith’s replacement saved the day for Aussies,

  3. Well I hope they keep talking about it Big Michael Holding thinks it was not out, he said there is magnifying glass technology to look at these things, why was it not used, the only person who really knows is Root and its not helped his team to win so how does he feel?

  4. Dessybhoy

I don’t blame Root – I’ve played the game and when it’s that close you’re almost closing your eyes incase you end up wearing it. But I’m convinced it hit the floor

  5. The last bastions of sporting integrity cricket and golf…..where you can call yourself out etc,i seen Tony Finau cheating at the Open a couple of weeks ago, nothing was said, a shame

The days of batsmen walking when they know they’re out is long gone.

Fielders at square leg appealing for lbw – it’s a joke.

Anyway Headingly will be interesting – bowlers certainly on top in this series so far

Pro golf often has different rules due to scoreboards stands etc, I would make them take a penalty drop in these circumstances they hit it into the trouble so there should be a sanction, but no free drop they end up with a clear line to the flag usually.

  8. Bada

Mikelson at the US hitting a moving ball because the penalty for that was less than for where it was heading.

  9. Golf

What happened to play it where it lies – all the cameras etc should be considered part of the course –

Could you clarify the Tony Finau accustation?

In golf for me there is a fine line between ‘cheating’ and ‘gamesmanship’.

  11. Dessybhoy- Mickleson should have had a ban ,and Garcia for hacking greens,Finau asked for the referee to intervene, as he said a Marshall told him he stood on the ball while it was in the rough, referee calls the Marshall over,he said he never said anything to Finau,he accepted it and hit his shot, blatant cheating, was surprised the commentators never called it out..

    Thanks mate.

I was not aware of that Finau story.

    Sounds dodgy.

I hate to mention a great but at the Open around 20 years ago I was following Seve whilst he was not playing well.

I first hand heard him completely intimidate the rules official into giving him a free drop for line of sight. Can’t quite remember exactly.

I do remember myself and the people around us thinking/saying that ‘Seve’ used his intimidation and star power to get that break.

My point is that all the broadcasting gear should become part of the course . If you want line of sight then keep it on the fairway

  14. I agree the big big loose hitters get away with murder and it has kind of spoiled many big majors for me since the ‘Tiger’ era 20 years ago began.

Golf should have sorted it out then..wide should be punished big style.

I grew up watching the likes of Faldo who put a premium on accuracy and not on distance.

By the turn of the century the likes of Faldo became obsolete because it became a grip it and rip it culture.

  15. Lazy , they could put in pot bunkers at 300 all of a sudden drivers disappear for the bombers, its wasting the game clubhead speeds are incredible now and some of the are 10 stone not big people just have full turns and snake hips.

  16. I see old “Legs gone Lustig” had an assist for Gent this evening to go 2-0 up, got a wee sneaky feeling if/when we get by AIK we might have either Mikael’s Gent or Kieran’s Arsenal in the EL group stages …

  17. Favorite Uncle: I was at the hurling final today, my first ever All-Ireland hurling final. Hope you saw it. Tipperary won in the end. First half was a close affair with Kilkenny being the better team until Tipp scored a goal. Game changed completely when Kilkenny had a man sent off just before half time, deservedly so, IMO.

  18. FAVOURITE UNCLE on

YES thanks .my son is over for a few days and he was watching on tv,he loved it .it used to be televised years ago here.he said£300 for a ticket .PL. must have a relative working there.

  19. LazyD- Sevvy was known for his gamesmanship, as you know, if you’ve seen any tribute stuff to him, they all mention it,he pushed it but I thought Finau was cheating HH
