  1. “I’m devastated, it shouldn’t happen,” said the manager. “It’s a poor result. We dominated the game but we conceded two really poor goals.

nobody scores well made goals against us 99% are due to conceding really poor goals due to our crap defending.

  2. LARKIN1907:

Give yourself peace. This idea that I’m part of the “Lenny Out Brigade” is so ancient the copyright has expired on it. His tactics were second-rate stuff tonight, they were a joke.

It’s not my job to sugar coat a night like this, or decisions like those he’s made.

His decision to public air the club’s dirty laundry in public, by the way, by throwing the players under the bus, would be a sackable offence in any other industry.

I never wanted Lennon hired, and everyone knows that.

Last season after Cluj, he turned me around. I never uttered a word of criticism against him after that; indeed, I’ve been one of his vocal supporters/

But we’re a year on from it and he’s making the same mistakes … and tonight he added a couple more and done his Gerrard impersonation turning a drama into a crisis just to keep the flak from himself.

It’s inexcusable and if you expect myself and other people who had very real reservations to keep schtum you are barking fella. I wrote my post-match article with no satisfaction at all, just a feeling of weary anger that the defeat was predictable from the moment we all saw the team-sheet.

Lennon’s defenders are always quick to slam those of us who criticise him. I’ve seen the same dynamic play out over at Ibrox … let me tell you something right now, they watch the way we’re playing and how predictable we are and they listen to Lennon tonight throwing his players to the wolves and it’s not a few bloggers you ought to be worrying about.

Cause they smell blood in the air over there, and it was Lennon himself who splashed it all over the walls tonight.

  3. Four-Leaf Clover Over & Over on

Year upon year, ad infinitum (it seems) we play in Europe and are confident of progressing. Delusions of grandeur on all our parts. Fans, players, coaches and managers equally. Wish i was an unemotional betting man. As fans we have to blame ourselves to some degree. Lennon isn’t and never has been a tactician. Should we be constantly surprised/shocked or not?

  4. Don’t play the players who don’t want to be here. We’re jeopardising the ten otherwise. I’d rather play the reserves who do want to be here and get rid of the rest. If they don’t want to be here their not or never will give their all. If we lose the 10 I’d rather lose it with honest triers

  5. I wonder if we had Rebrov in charge and they’d had NL, would we have gone through instead?

Funny because I asked the same question about Petrescu last season.

    Dessybhoy,

    what would you do?

Big stupid display of integrity like Rogers, how did that work for him?

    or

Conform and manage the team you love come what may?

  7. BLANTYRETIM IS PRAYING FOR THE KNOX FAMILY on 26TH AUGUST 2020 10:57 PM

“It’s just a basic mistake. I’m sick of seeing us make basic defensive mistakes. We did the same against Copenhagen when we were on top. Sometimes you can’t legislate for that. He’s in the right position and all he has to do is deal with it but doesn’t and we get punished for it.

    ==============

Before the ball arrived in El Hamed territory, THREE Celtic players failed to win it v one Ferencvaros player who launched the long ball. As soon as El Hamed let it bounce it was curtains.

A failing of quality and replacing quality.

I give you Tierny – Quality, Taylor and Bolongoli – Not Quality.

That is the core problem each transfer window.

  8. glendalystonsils on

This tape is on a bit of a loop … ‘individual mistakes cost us’.

Yes Lenny, and you were one of the individuals .

Do we just keep on doing what we’re doing?

Any of you older guys remember the legend of ‘fortress Parkhead’?

  9. You know Godwins law where eventually someone mentions Nazis/Hitler?

Is there one for calling posters huns?

kicked in tonight already i see

“£3 M star coming” , oh great, there’s a bench needs warming up.

  11. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    AoW,

I really dont expect any better from you, you are what you are

  12. its ok for players to want to play somewhere else – no problem with that! Paddy Klimala worked his socks off pre-season – came back and score a great goal through sheer effort and determination. He want to be here BUT doesn’t get picked!

  13. Took a wee breather after final whistle.

Still p1ssed off with this evenings tosh.

Dreadful post match interviews. I now expect training ground bust up tomorrow.

We are making a right roaring arse of this season.

Canalmar- not a hun, though I feel we now need to change the management team. No inspiration, guile, tactics, inspired signings

  14. GORDYBHOY64

Early days but I don’t think the keeper looks as good as FF who may well have saved both goals tonight, especially the second.

I’m not having a pop at Barkas or saying he was culpable but FF was always going to be impossible to replace like for like with our budget.

Need the Ten, nothing much else matters in a Glasgow football hunned-up wurld…..

Its a painfully dumbed down outlook. It makes me sick.

    @THEBHOYFROMOZ

Erm.. who was the manager when we won the treble treble

It was NFL who stepped up to the plate when BR sent to Leicester. CQN articles are archived. Search out the posts on the aftermath of the SCF that day and following days. Get any sense of disappointment and letdown.

The problem with being a Celtic supporter is that our hopes and ambitions for our club is seldom matched by that of the custodians. And I consider myself a realist but yet am too often disappointed.

  17. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

The losing goal was a brass neck.

First one the same. Couldn’t be arsed closing down. Stinkin’ attitude.

He is to blame , he picked the teams and he didn’t learn from his mistakes

As I said if you don’t learn you don’t progress

  20. @Canman…..mmm Conform?

Not sure that’s the man lenny is….He’s a tough cookie

Mabye history will show that he reached his level….

Mulumbu £1m wasted wages (instead of John McGinn)

    Plus many more

Consistent failure year on year in Europe to clubs with far lesser resources.

    Its appalling and unacceptable.

    The CEO must go.

  22. Truth is..it’s all about the standards you set.

Our standards is winning the domestic title..if our manager fails to do that he gets the sack.

At other clubs the bottom line is probably champions league qualification.

Our managers ALWAYS appear to survive failing to qualify in what has to be said is these a far easier route than it used to be.

Mowbray’s celtic had to overcome Arsenal whilst even way back O’neills Celtic had to square off against AJAX.

It is a long long time since we came up against anything like top quality in qualifying despite all our greeting about how ‘difficult’ it is to make the group stages.

For me it will never get any better for us until we set the bar a bit higher.

Tonight was unacceptable and I would not be devastated if Lennon lost his job because of it.

I will not calling for it all the same as we need to come together and fight for the domestic title more than ever this year because of the ‘ten’

  23. big decisions to be made at the club – I’d rather we made them soon , deal with the short term disruption. Rather than wait and not have time to respond – we need a spark and the blame game will not win us 10IAR.

The question is – who is the man?

  24. Final thought before bed,

No wonder Neymar laughed at us and Rodgers ran for the hills.

Celtic FC, a great European name reduced to embarrassment and cannon fodder.

  25. Geebee1978

Foster and Gordon both knew how to make themselves big on one on ones

tonight the keeper never made much effort to spread himself to cover the only area the striker could have put the ball.

  26. David 17

    If the fabled 10 becomes a reality…

whits the betting you won;t be painfully dumbed down?/

Feck it i may even get back on the drink..Health permitting.

  27. Tens of millions spent on players, and we put best pals and Old players to coach them, I really hope this strategy works

  28. Just read Lennon’s alleged pre-match comments.

    Klimala not match fit.

    Who’s feckin fault is that?

Guy gets 4 minutes at best.

I’ll play a creative midfielder out of position instead.

    GTF!

Therein lies the problem . Everything we do is measured against the huns .

  30. What is the point of having a magnificent stadium like Celtic Park ( with a light show!) if in future seasons, the best teams we are likely to see are the level of Locomotiva Tractoria from Kirgyzstan?

I am still seething at the stunning management ineptitude and lack of planning by Lawwell and Lennon in arriving at tonight’s fiasco, like a deja vu, groundhog day bad dream.

This season was our best chance in years of reaching third seed in a Championship League Group, and we blew it by piss poor acquisitions, planning, coaching and team selection. Now of course we would have been pumped, but we would have earned over £30M and squashed Sevco financially. Last week, I wrote on here that someone would have to man mark Nguen, or he would destroy us. Our manager said the staff had done a lot of work on Ferencvaros. I saw no evidence of that, unless the staff thought they were susceptible to a Levein formation.

In fact, our planning is so preposterously bad that I am reluctantly tempted to believe in Canamalar’s theory that the Celtic Board feel their business partners (Sevco) would be destroyed by us winning the 10, and are reluctant to sanction it. Sounds ridiculous, then I remember the sleekit way they treated the Res 12 requisitioners, and allowed the Hun to get away Scot free with blatant cheating. Hmmmmm.

  31. Jame Forrest

I know you didn’t want Lenny and wanted us to step up.

My point about your comments (and I know you’re hurting like me) was that you wrote like it was written in the stars. Your hyperbolic comments…park manager/lamentable/predicatble etc are what pissed me off as much as the result.

I repeat that even if Celtic had done all you say since BR left we may still have come unstuck..it’s why we love/hate the game.

I respect what you do and appreciate your dedication to our Bhoys. I too want us to be the best we can be. I just think the Lenny critics are over the top and playing the man not the ball.

The ones I’m really pissed off about are those calling for NL Heidis on a spike and that will only help the Huns.

Unlike many I did not think and do not think the ten is a stick on as they have undoubtedly improved…and it’s fitba and the rest.

We should still have enough to secure the ten but I agree we need to set our sights higher. FFS ten is not a world record and our sights should be on that (16 is it Riseneberg).

Improving in Europe for me is a big goal as well… but some perspective please.

  32. Lenny like Deila is a decent guy and gives us his all. He’s not up the job at the level we want – CL Group stages. His post match comments will leave him fielding questions about who wants away for weeks – our dressing room has been thrown to the wolves by his excuses tonight.

Our board need to assess things tomorrow and examine all options – we certainly need to see a big step up from our recent performances.

I’m not altogether confident in our Board given the admission they looked at no managerial alternatives to Lenny for months while we seen through the 8.

We’re a bit of a shambles at every level.

  33. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

As much as I blame Lenny tonight ultimately the problem lies with our board and CEO

Lack of investment and foresight costs us in Europe .

The teams who embarrass us yearly run on significantly lower budgets than we do
