  1. At one point in ‘Icarus’, the excellent Netflix documentary which, in the course of being made, stumbled upon the state-sponsored doping scandal which led to the ban on Russian athletes, Richard Pound, former President of the World Anti-Doping Agency, and who was on the independent commission set-up to investigate when the story broke before the Rio Olympics, asks:

‘Why would someone go to watch a sport knowing it’s fixed?”

Strange how often I’ve thought, read, indeed even posted similar, yet, hearing it in the context of that documentary somehow just made the answer seem so glaringly obvious.

    Good Morning All.

    Two small personal protests undertaken.

First I have withdrawn from the HCTS scheme and informed Celtic Ticket office accordingly. I stressed that my decision was not a reflection on the hard work, dedication and excellent service I have received from the ticket office over the years, but stated that I simply cannot support cup competitions organised by the SFA and SPFL both of whom have not treated Scottish Football properly or professionally.

Second, Yesterday I went for an overdue eye test. I would normally go to Specsavers where the branch is managed by a very nice Celtic supporting Irishman. However, due to that company’s commercial ties to the SFA, I have decided to boycott their service. I know it is a small and possibly insignificant commercial protest, but it helps me be true to my principles.

I have dropped the branch a line again stressing that my decision in no way reflects on the level of service provided by Specsavers and their staff, but explains that I can no longer support the company or give it my business while they retain a commercial connection to the SFA who have consistently failed to act in a professional manner with regard to the administration and governance of Scottish Football. I have further explained that in the event of the SFA changing their governance and administration policy, or in the event of Specsavers ending their association with the SFA, then I will revisit my decision and consider returning as a specsavers customer.

Well done, mate. Most of the Celts I know down here are blanking Hills and Ladbrokes. The ones with online accounts phoned to close theirs, with an explanation for doing so.

Can anyone supply a full list of SFA/SPFL commercial partners, please?

So haven’t read back but I assume there were dozens of arrests at Fir Park due to the Sevco fans use of the proscribed songbook. And I trust the SPFL have already launched an investigation into the events. #notholdingmybreathCSC.

GENE, Thanks, that’s what I’ve been seeing but today all I got was this site is unsafe .

  8. I, too, have just closed my William Hill account and gave their sponsorship in Scottish Football as my reason.

The more who do this kind of thing, the more effective it will be.Companies don`t like losing money :-))

The SFA wouldn’t want to set a precedent the week before the huns much-anticipated bigotfest when Neil Lennon turns up. That wouldn’t be fair on them, denying them their kulchural right to hatred must be against European law.

    Or summat.

Next week will be poison. You’ll read the outrage in every MSM platform,no doubt.

Will their supports use of flares also be investigated by the SPL/SFA ?

As for their songbook, IF The Billy RENT Boys is indeed still banned, why are THEM not being punished ?

    Celtic Great.

  13. Paddy Roberts…

Would love him to join us, not on loan but permanently.

However, I can see that Nice may be attractive to him for now. And that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t return in the future.

A loan deal to Nice means that next year his transfer fee will be less as he will have one year less on his contract.

His VALUE will depend on how he performs at Nice. If he performs well, it could mean a tug-of-war with multiple teams trying to get him to sign. A poor or average season or even if he doesn’t get the same excitement from playing with Nice as he did with us and it could open the door for us.

  14. I only saw the ” highlights” of THEM v We’ll.

Now I like to think that I know just a wee bit about fitba ?

THEM’s “defence” looked no better than before imo.

As for ” Alves”, have a look at his positioning at the We’ll goal…..that cross dropped right into THEM’s 6 yard box, and Alves was maybe 10 yards away in no mans land, with his BACK to where the cross finally dropped.

He didn’t have a clue where the ball was….and he’s being touted by the huns and smsm as their main defender ?

Alves will soon become The GriffBhoys ” BITCH” !

    HH

  15. I just checked the SFA website for their list of sponsors to see which companies I should be boycotting.

I discovered that I’m not actually a customer of any of them, which is nice….but I feel a bit cheated. I might buy a Mars bar then write to Mars to say it will be the last one I will buy.

I was, however, interested to note that IMG is a partner of the SFA. A certain Alistair Johnston sits on their board…

Park’s Motor Group is another partner…but then, even Celtic use their buses…

  16. Supersutton

I think we will have moved on from Paddy and need to be looking elsewhere – can’t see us waiting another year.

  17. hows about this as a commercial bhoycott.

Part of my match day experience is putting on a bet at the stadium for that days game.

First goalscorer & correct result being a wee favorite. Also like to bet a striker to get a hat-trick.

Its not big money usually 5 to 10 pounds. I seldom win, my predictions are allways hope based rather than sensible, However, how many thousands of us do the same.

The turnover from matchdays at celtic park for the Ladbrokes kiosks must run into hundreds of thousands of pounds. I would assume as a celtic sponsor, and an operator of the kiosks ladbrokes allready pay up front for their use. I wouldnt expect celtic get a cut of any takings.

    So,

why not bhoycott specifically them , at one game, dont bet at the stadium, let it be known we are not betting with a company that sponsors the corrupt Football authorities.

I see our away allocation for Partick is sold out. And Kilmarnock close to it, So until an organside bhoycott of a specific fixture is called for, we are just wasting time.

That’s outrageous, mate. Write to every potential commercial sponsor and tell them that you will refuse to boycott their product until they sponsor Scottish football.

    That’ll larn ’em.

Anyone hear about Sevco game scheduled for 30th Dec at CP is being moved to Monday 1st Jan? Us Irish Bhoys need to know ASAP as we need to book flights. Personally I had heard nothing but a fellow Irish Bhoy said he heard it was being moved to the Monday. Anyone hear anything?

Skysports reporting Wesley Sneider to undergo medical at Nice – Is Paddy his ‘+ 1’ ?

  25. I know this probably sounds shallow but I can understand why Paddy would play in Nice rather than here.

This must be the worst summer weather we’ve had in Glasgow. Why not have a year of beautiful weather and Champions League football? (Potentially)

  26. For boycott to be successful they have to be coordinated and meaningful – not sure that will happen.

Really hope Celtic are working in the background but not confident

  27. Well,at least we know tonight about Paddy.that will settle us all down.Well, until Madden referees our next game.I thought the Huns penalty, was a penalty, but wether anyone else would have got the award, well. The Motherwell hand ball appeal was so blatant.Hand straight out from body.KC,seems to be settling in nicely on SKY.”I have seen them given”was his verdict.Yes Kris, every time.

This Hun team is no better than last year.Wide open spaces everywhere on the field.Never seen a team get so much space all over the park as Motherwell did.Should have scored at least 4.Some unlucky, some good goalkeeping, but clear cut.Morelos looking like Keirnan just back from holiday.Alves ?Was he playing?.Nothing up front.Play like that against us,it will be 5 minimum.Only hope Lenny goes for them next week.

We are just a joy to watch.

  28. My Ipswich supporting colleagues did not heed my Garner warnings, and today were gloating that had made a scoring start for the Tractor Boys. I will now let them celebrate signing Martyn Waghorn…

I will have my smirking revenge…
