  1. Re the Motherwell game it was good TV. The only blot being the smoke bomb.

The seat damage pics that caused the controversy and Draconian action came following post match comments from Chick Young, that the scenes were the worst he had seen in his life. Then Andrew Smith of SoS crawled among the damaged seats and reported on the pro-IRA and anti-Lawwell comments.

Then we had Fukushima comparison reports.

why would you want to start in Australia when the precedent was set in Scotland, Ireland and Wales?

  3. So it was OK for wee Eck to wave the Saltire at Wimbledon but it’s not OK for…………..

As I said earlier, Mr Lynch needs to clarify his statement, is it political flags and banners? Or any flags and banners? Scotland flag, Irish Flag, Union Jack, Sweedish Flag, Netherlands Flag, Iceland Flag, Isrealie Flag, Welsh Flag, Flag of Japan, on, an, on, an,on, I smell an OG here, lol, helloooooo Superintendent Lynch?

He does not need to clarify it.No flags or banners. How clear do you need it.Agreed by both teams.Of course its all the police fault. How does anyone know they are not acting under the instructions of both clubs?.Seems likely as this ban,it seems is only for this game.No other warnings given out.

After what has been going on at Celtic Park the last few weeks,is anyone really surprised.I am sure the board dont want any sort of protest against them. Not in their brave new world.

    Yea,I know,I am a board basher.YAWN.

So as an Irish citizen supporting Celtic if I made my way to the ground in support of Celtic and never violenced anybody, didn’t even say boo to their shadows… do you think I should be arrested and charged and have a criminal record?

    Do you?

Sorry, I fail to see any relevant point to the upcoming St Johnstone game in that question.

Yes. No GB arrests made. I never said there were.

Not at all mate but if the 10 grand is such a big concern take it out the money the GB has made the club

First of all, you’re repeating your earlier point, namely that Celtic FC should pay for atmosphere by reimbursing damages. Secondly, have you come up with a new way of accounting? How much have the GB ‘made the club’?

  7. Here’s one for all CQN Glaswegians

Many thanks for your support towards the Wayside Centre for homeless people in 2013..without it the Centre would not be able to run and help so many needy people.

One of the main things that are needed are pants and socks for men and women. They are the most commonly asked for items, primarily because many homeless people have poor footwear and also because they have no laundry facilities.  It is really important that people are given respect and dignity..without that, little else can develop.  Having clean underwear is a step towards making sure this is the case.  So this Christmas, if you can, drop some packets of pants and socks into the Wayside..or maybe start an office colllection in January or have other ideas.

If you go to St Joseph’s Church Clarkston, there is a bag at the back, beside the Mary’s Meals box where donations can be left.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and make every moment count.

    Many thanks

ACGR, TET and Me were waving the ‘Hootenanny’ Tri-colour during the ‘Zadok’ music in the Barcelona front stand Club Section – nobody bothered us.

Well apart from taking photos of us – as far as I am aware we have not been reported to UEFA.

Not sure mate but I’m certain it was more than 10 grand

  11. Weeminger- I seem to remember deadco wrecking CP’s toilets and over 600 seats at the game where their players and manager lost it- did you ever hear of a ban on their flags/ banners after this, or after one of their fans dropped a flare onto a plastic pitch this season?

    So why us?

  12. The Wayside centre is a great facility and I speak from personal knowledge of having a friend benefit from their good work for people of all and no religious dennomiaton.

You won’t read about them in MSN.

  13. Neganon – I’m serious. After the Motherwell game Cosgrove was one of the only pundits to point out Ultras weren’t only an issue at Celtic.

Taken in isolation. Do the actions seem reasonable to try and prevent their fans using pyros

I have two sons, one 18, who seldom goes to Celtic park.

My younger boy is nearly 15 and getting a wee bit bored going with his dad. He is like Iwas in my teens Celtic daft. Next season I suspect he’ll want to go with his mates and get up to the things we all did in our teens.

I’m in a quandary, will I let him be exposed to offending some bigot, having my house raided and my son being jailed ?

    Celtic take note.

  15. up-over-goal,

Your response to Kitalba was extremely disingenuous and not very smart, I think anyone could read exactly the question being asked. If an Irish Citizen Celtic fan turns up at McDiarmid Park on Thursday with an Irish Flag, should that Celtic fan face arrest and have a criminal record for such an offence? Yes or No?

Kit from an official CFC Twitter Account

@CelticFCSLO: Apologies for delay i only learned of this yest. St J apparently said no flags or banners, their decision. Reason given they can be used to

@CelticFCSLO: Hide pyro and smokes etc.. I’ll update when i get more info but this is all know at the moment

    ———————————————————————————————————————

The idea that banners and flags hide pyro and smokes is utter nonsense. The real reason is to give stewards and polis unobscured views of any supporter singing songs which they (stewards/polis) regard as offensive. That way they can arrest supporters and testify in court without perjuring themselves not that that’s stopped them in the past. That’s the real reason for the ban and it won’t just be for this away match if it’s seen to work from their perspective. If the club has approved this action (and I think it probably has, albeit implicitly) then Perth isn’t the only place we should be boycotting.

A chip off the old block, does he not like the wind and the rain either?

  20. Anybody going to StJ game on boxing day. Perth within reasonable distance for me and trying to avoid the missus dragging me to boxing day sales!!

  21. FWIW, I think the flag ban is a terrible idea, but St Johnstone have probably acceeded to plod’s request re. pyros, and as a club they have a right to allow and disallow entry to their ground.

It looks like the police are attempting to ‘draw a line in the sand’ over the use of pyros at games, but I can’t see how this will solve anything. What’s more likely is that we will start to see police wading in on innocent fans in order to reach perpetrators, resulting in yet more bad headlines, and anger directed by Celtic fans towards Celtic FC.

  22. The banners being banned to prevent polis from identifying those singing doesnt work when scarfs are over mouths or those snood things are used to cover the face- so I’m not sure that is the main reason for this

  23. Snake – that’s certainly what’s implied by their statement and our supporters liaison officer.
