    Honest – it applies to the home fans too and everything suggests that the move was instigated by St J to deal with their own Ultras. Unless PLs influence extends to writing their statements for them and putting themselves in the firing line.

    I’m no lawyer but I’d like to hear a legal opinion on this flag issue. Football fans, Celtic fans in particular are being treated with utter contempt in this country. It’s beyond a joke now

    You really need to focus on something other than attacking a good celtic man, that probably attends more games than most and has a birds eye view of the goings on.

    Johan @ 13.57 – I’m not sure St J can enforce rules about their fans behaviour at other stadia.

     

     

    Or to put this another way. Pyros have been an issue with our away support for a while now if the club is at the heart of this did it really take the Motherwell incident to come up with the move?

    At the recent game at Tynecastle the police announced in the lead up that there would be tight security outside the stadium.

     

     

    The searches before the turnstiles were as stringent as I can remember.

     

     

    The result – no pyro in the ground.

     

     

    Surely this would be a more measured and considered response to the problem.

    I was under the impression that personal abuse direct toward other posters was not allowed on CQN.

     

     

    I had a spat with another poster, it got out of order, and I apologised for some of my posts.

     

     

    Now we have a handful of posters coming on, on a daily basis directing personal insults toward a few posters with total impunity.

     

     

    Not the blog I started posting on.

     

     

    A fair few good posters have left because of this.

     

     

    In short, is it now acceptable to come on to CQN and abuse other posters because you disagree with them ?….it seems so.

    I didn’t know they have never done it before and as I say if it is a one off then we have a reason to be mad.

     

     

    I used the example of Aberdeen because they are one of the few sides who go there who might bring enough fans who might bring a flag.

     

     

    That Stadium as far as I can see is always empty and so evidence of them having no flags at other games might not be anything to do with this.

     

     

    Someone said earlier that Cosgrove said St Johnstone wanted their own Ultras to stop with the pyro so we can bide our time and judge it. If that is a recent decision then it could account for it. Perhaps someone could email him and ask him. Personally I think that this could be bogus but I will give the benefit of the doubt this once.

     

     

    If we see the same things at later games and nothing from police and stewards there is your evidence and you can start to make a case against this and have measurable proof that this is harassment of our supporters only.

     

     

    What I don’t want to see or hear about are swathes of fans who turn up in Perth with flags and attitude because there’s only going to be one set of losers out of that kind of situation and I don’t want any more fans and possibly people I know into the bargain getting locked up.

     

     

    I feel that the strategy in defeating this has been all wrong and I would like to see something else in place.

    Honest – im not at all relaxed about it. However, I’m equally vexed by some taking absolutely everything as being aimed solely at our fans and that the club are the originators of the moves rather than complying with them.

     

     

    If St Js experience is that fans are lighting flares underneath the cover of flags then they might see this as a reasonable response. With the emphasis on if

     

     

    I personally don’t agree with it.

    The only way to make any kind of effective change in Scottish football is to withhold our money.

     

     

    How long do you think silly bans on flags would last if no Celtic fans turned up at McDiarmid Park?

     

     

    How long would the OB act last if the support en masse decided not to subside the rest of Scottish football?

     

     

    I am not a great believer in boycotts but it seems its the only power we have, the soon as we recognise this the quicker we will be able to influence change.

    Not very good advice. Imagine some of our youngsters potentially getting a criminal record over something as trivial as this. It could ruin their futures.

     

     

    Taken in isolation for elf and safety reasoning it can be plausible. We will need to see if this is just another piece in the bigger picture.

     

     

    My gut feeling is that this is just another tiny wee part of a sustained attack on Celtic Supporters and Celtic minded people all linked to the odious OB act.

     

    Remember : An act that was specifically designed with us in mind. The quote “To even up the score” always springs to mind.

     

     

    Would you encourage your sons or daughters to travel to watch Celtic these days ?

    I’m not sure why anyone even responds to Smokie, we know what he is. HT ignores him so should we all. Like many I had become disillusioned with blog but today I sense a new mood. almost everyone on here appear united in saying “We are taking no more shit”. I do agree with Snake that we should box clever, we should pick our time & place to let everyone know who we are and what we stand for. Its probably too late to organise a Boycott of the Perth game but the Association should make it clear that in future they will recommend a Boycott of any ground that bans us from carrying our Colours. I sincerely trust there will not be an issue in Celtic Park but if there is we will have to make a stand there as well.,

    They aren’t working but rather than admit they were wrong they go to extraordinary lengths to get convictions (See Gallowgate kettling, dawn raids for seat breaking) and to balance these excesses we see PR offensives, aided by dubious reasoning about flags concealing pyros etc.

     

     

    Think you’ve bit the nail on the head there. When the police demanded these powers on the back of the “shame game” we were told the laws were primarily to deal with offensive chants. I don’t think they could ever have dreamed circumstances back then when they could call for banning all flags. Quite incredible how this situation has developed. They seem to be making it up as they go along and you really have to worry where this is all going to end up. How about doing your job properly and enforcing the ban on pyro and identifying vandals instead of stopping wee Tommy taking in his 2ft by 2ft champions flag?

     

    A bunch of arrogant incompetents in this police division.

    I’ve already said the ban is a stupid idea.

     

     

    Celtic FSLO only found out about this yesterday. St Johnstone have come out with their statement today. As I said, it’s their ground. Any ground anywhere can turn away fans for whatever reason they choose, in the same way a pub can throw someone out for wearing ‘colours’. If people don’t like it they won’t go to the game and deny that club income.

     

     

    Enough already.
