Well sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Celtic have been good in spells but without a doubt that goal was offside.
We have been on the end of some dreadful decisions in this competition so it is good to finally get a few in our favour.
Samaras has been outstanding.

We are dangerous on the break.
Everyone doing their bit, but great shifts from Sami and Hooper.
Sammi was defo onside when the ball came to him, Hoops was level with Sammi when the ball was passed to him, so ONSIDE
Goal was borderline offside.
Apart from a 10 min flourish, we have looked very comfortable.
VW is a class act, i sincerely hope he is here for the hibs game
After a cagey first 20 minutes, we started playing some real nice stuff.
Yes we got lucky with the goal but it was coming, and the offside was closer on second looks
Hoping for another goal in the second half to really finish them!
The more we get the ball to Sammi and james Forrest the more we look like we could put this out of sight in the second half.

Maybe I am misinterpreting the rules – but Samaras was ahead of Hooper therefore Hooper wasnt the last man between ball and keeper; so therefore it doesnt matter if the ball was played forward….

Quiet Hoops but pops up when the ball comes to him and doing some running and there when it counted.
Wilson is playing well and as someone else said there, playing like a defender. Only seen him in the Madrid game so far so this is encouraging, hoping he makes it.
Wanyama quiet for the fiorst 20 but coming into it a bit more. Brown quiet and even more so after clash on the edge of their box.
Not a classic but professional and the first 15 minutes were mostly tentative and too often the ball was being kicked out of play and position was constantly being relinquished but after that Celtic started to play and do some fine quick passing and moving in dangerous areas without necessarily having a killer edge until a point. Goal (and it was) picked us up and we are plaing with a bit of mucho gusto.
Looking forward to the 2nd half. HIF are no great shakes by the looks of it and although they have some energy and heart they don’t really seem to have the quality to take the game back.

Samaras is more than just a star….he’s a one man galaxy when he plays like this!
After our initial nerves, we were off and running. The Swedes have to charge around and will not be able to sustain that in the second half.
I’d expect more goals from us….it’s in our DNA.
A big big season ahead for us. We can forget about anything else. Life on Planet Celtic is good good good.

On the offside..its not a big mistake form the assistant as it seems, the reason being is that as he looks across the line Sammie’s body is in front of gary’s ..gary’s body could have blocked the assistants view of where hooper was when the ball was touched by Sammie. If the assistant thinks Sammie was in front of gary but doesn’t see the ball.. he may have been left in a unsighted position.
Hooper looked offside to me, just, but it’s time we had the rub of the green.
Easily the better team, composed and in control.

What a support we have.
First 20 minutes were really poor but then we settled. Lenny pushed Commons out left and although he has not seen much of the ball, Brown and Wanyama are finding more space in the middle and pushing on well to support Sammy and Hooper. James Forrest also started to see more of the ball and has caused their defence a few problems.
On the goal, I though Hoops was exactly level with Sammi when the ball was knocked forward. Davie Provan showed his lack of knowledge by claiming Hoops was ahead of the ball and therefore off-side. Clearly doesn’t understand the rules of the game. Excellent decision by the linesman. That would never have been given in Scotland.
Excellent perfromances from Kelvin Wilson and Captain Broony. Big Vic also came on to a game as did Sammi. Looking for a better all round performance in second half and a goal to settle what nerves are left

Hooper was level with Sammi, they are trying to say that cos the ball was passed forward he is offside, it matters not if the ball come out of Sammi’s erse, Hoops was onside when the ball was played.

Amazing to think that we have gone almost 270 minutes in European competition without conceding a goal. With how much our defence gets slated, that is an outstanding achievement.
Btw Kelvin has stepped up a another gear tonight.. looking quality so far..and he had improved a lot on his last appearance..could he quickly develop in to the player the manager thought he would be ? I think so ;-)

I think it depends what angle you are looking at for the goal.
When the ball reaches Samaras he is onside Hooper looked in front of him to me but if it is correct in the rules then all the better.

It’s a simple rule made complicated by the commentators. Samaras was onside, everyone agrees. Hooper was behind him or level, therefore he is onside too when the ball is played. It makes no difference whether the ball is played forward or not.

We have not been poor….just early nerves and containing Swedes running around like maddies coz they have to. We will control and dominate the 2nd. half.
