  1. A win is a win. Let’s just ensure we make it to the group phase. One game at a time. Thanks for the updates guys.

  2. Mathews played really well. Saved our bacon a couple of times and did well going forward.

  3. Good second half after a very average first. Mathews mom.

If we had went at them in the first the way we did in the second game would have been over.We should beat them over there but squeaky bum time again,is it ever any other way with us.

  4. Their MOTM was their keeper. I am sure that we can beat them next Wednesday.

In the interim we have flag day.

  5. Ray Singh-Carr on

Was quite heartened by the way we recovered from going a goal behind. Would have preferred another goal or two, but saw enough to feel confident of getting a result over there that will see us through.

  6. Lack of sharpness showed – if we were halfway through our season we woud have got four or five in the second half.

Difficult game next week especially on the AstroTurf.

Thought we played very well tonight under difficult circumstances. They were spawny at both ends. We should have enough not to get beaten in Helsinki but we have no CLAWS like we have no teeth. So need to keep focussed keep belief keep working in fitness.

Well done and thank you to those that went along tonight.

  8. Good 2nd half display from Celtic. Deserved more than2 goals but confident we will finish the job next week.

As for all the doomsayers, I despair.

Well done the team. A win’s a win. In Helsinki we will be sharper and more in the groove.

Someone texted me in work to say we were 0-1 down and the Artmedia/Neuchatel shakes started.

First game of the new season – we are in the driving seat and we WILL score in Helsinki.

    Good effort. *phew*

  10. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

    watched it online…

This Celtic team are better than they showed tonight and I suspect the momentum of games will see them hit true form in due course….hopefully they will put this mob away with an early goal in 2nd leg..would be a shame if they don’t get a crack at things when they reach full tilt..

I thought we played well against Inter a few days ago, they are a top side, we did enough tonight, could have have a couple more, but as has been said on here till the cows come home a lack of match practice.

Back a couple of weeks early would see to that, but what would I know, I live in a cave :>)

Delighted with the commitment, and the result, we will score over there, another week under the belt, with a good win in the first league game should see to that.

    Happy enough.

  12. Now looking forward to going to the game on Saturday and seeing the flag being raised by a genuine gentleman and Celtic great in Sean Fallon

As Robbie might say…..’ a wins a win for aw that’

    Hail hail and goodnight

  13. Hector Avocado. Ho, ho, ho It's magic, you know, it's gonna be 13 in a row. on

We have the advantage, if we cancel out their away goal, we will have a good chance of going through. For our first competitive match, we put in a hell of an effort, thought we could have got the third in the last fifteen, got the ball forward enough, wide enough, and into the box, not always on the end of it though. Maybe with another game in the tank, we can get the result we need.

  15. Watching the game, I thought Matthews looked leaner and fitter and more physically built than last season, then I remembered that he is only 19, so still maturing. This guy could become a Celtic legend if we can hold on to him. A Celtic captain in the making?

  16. By no means a disaster, playing at the weekend should do us good, defence still too fragile though. I predict a score draw next week

  17. Good win, 1st game of the season, good fitness, movement.. chance after chance in the 2nd half, execution poor… still prone to defensive collapse.. but looking promising..

One would fine one’s self praising Lennon.

I think the astroturf over there behaves pretty much like proper grass – it’s not like that bonkers LSD stuff people played on in the 80s. I am hoping it will suit us – and am sure the team will prefer it to ICT or Motherwell in January!

I was a little surprised at how tired Helsinki players were in the last 10-15 mins of the game!!!

  23. No easy games in Europe. Should have won by more but happy enough with a win. We were all over them for most part and with another game under belts should be OK.

  24. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Saying the Finnish side were poor is disrespectfull they kept the ball and moved it about well at times. We looked at times as though we still need to find our sharpness. It will be very hard for us in Finland I take it Kayal is injured? I was surprised at the substitution of Commons I thought he was comeing on to a game.If we dont make it through this tie and it is no foregone conclusion I think we will sell one or two players it really is a huge second leg match for us.H.H.

Yes, the Inter game was our best pre-season friendly performance but we saw a step up from that tonight.

You may live in a cave but it’s in warm weather territory with the best pool crest in the universe.

You’re obviously the smartest troglobite that I know of.

I hope so, it didn’t seem to affect us when we played on it in Moscow a few years back.

Wee Gregor on Celtic TV more or less said that, his foot was very badly bruised…

We got a result and it should be enough to see us through in Helsinki, we were the best team throughout the match and made some decent chances..

My one wish is that we can stop playing Victor at centre half, let’s put that idea to bed..

Much smarter ones than me out there :>)

I agree, we were much sharper tonight, still a way off, but getting there.

Really can’t forsee a problem over there, score and the tie is over, and I think we will for sure.
