  1. MELBOURNE MICK,

Sorry mate I meant to add…I am very glad that you met your Princess……I have met many so called Princess’s over the years, but either they have binned me…or I have been stupid enough to bin them and then deeply regret it for years ?

As my auld Da always said to me ” See you Jimmy…your brains are in your B*@*”…He wasn’t far wrong.

  2. TONY ROME,

This time last year I hadn’t met or known anyone from CQN….Look at me now….no one WANTS to feckin know me from CQN !

    LOL.

i know that the CQN Bhoys and Ghirls would make you most welcome as they did with me nearly a year ago…and it’s a fact that one or two STILL want to meet up with me again, for whatever reason ?

  3. As the blog is quiet, and big Jimmy has brought up the

ex Aberdeen player Duncan Shearer, here’s a wee story.

Just as would be expected any Celtic supporter with any

gumption will wear the hoops at any time no matter the

place or company they are in, and it came as no surprise

when a young lass walked through the rig galley just

gallus as feck with the exalted top on.

No biggy as most of the crew were tims anyway, obviously

she joined fellow hoopies and luck would have it me and

my wee mate were walking the West Highland Way for

charity on our two weeks leave, we had already collected

over 3000 pounds from the crew for a deprived kids home

in Maryhill and this girl and her friend were going to meet

up with us in Inverness to give us refreshments etc. it

was big Duncans sister and Celtic mad.

Alas blisters on our feet put paid to that after three days

and a humiliating return by car to Glasgow was the coup

tat, but charity was the beneficiary, and our rig pals had

    a right good laugh.

    H.H Mick

  4. FFS…Somebody tell Brendan that Celtic play St Johnstone next Saturday and NOT Ross County !

On the other Brendan thread about Celtics efforts being “Phenomonal” he states that Ross County are up next ?????

    C’mon Brendan…get a grip !

    LOL

  5. Quite a few changes yesterday, gave some game time ,to fringe players, good first half, second half, not so hot,but we are still top of the league,as for Scott Sinclair,I have noticed, that he is not playing as good ,as he usually is,but still a good player on his day, Maybe Brendan, should introduce, young Miller,in the left wing position, worth a try,

    strategy

    ˈstratɪdʒi/Submit

    noun

    1.

a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term or overall aim.

“time to develop a coherent economic strategy”

synonyms: master plan, grand design, game plan, plan of action, plan, policy, proposed action, scheme, blueprint, programme, procedure, approach, schedule; tactics, set of tactics

    “the government’s economic strategy”

    ==%===

I thought that worth posting to put yesterday into the context in which Celtic are operating as opposed to the I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now perspective. ( ok an overstatement but it’s so lyrical I can hear it ;) )

Any strategy deals with knowns at the time of creation and unknowns as they emerge or indicators the strategy is not working.

Unknowns are injuries, loss of form or departures but indicators tell us if a strategy is still on track in spite of them.

As main indicators are results and not the performances that produce them, it is an uphill battle as matters stand to suggest the strategy is not working.

I’m grateful Celtic have attempted to come up with an overall strategy to take the club forward and if that means a football feast one game and a tapas the next I take the strategical view that over a period I can enjoy both.

  8. MELBOURNE MICK,

Good story mate…and well done with the Charity work.

I can hardly walk 30 yards these days cos of medical conditions, which is a bit of a pain ( no pun intended)……although after 15/20 beers…I can probably stagger further without ANY pains ?

One night whilst in Bairds with Big Dunc, he was telling some stories of his experience at that time with the Scotland squad and Andy feckin Roxburgh and Craigy Hun Broon etc.

Roxburgh had arranged for the Scotland squad to go to a city centre cinema to see “BraveHeart” which had just been released in Glasgow immediately prior to a Scotland match.

Anyways, Big Dunc described sitting in the cinema with his Scotland team mates and the WAGS etc…when due to the story telling of Mel Gibsons ” Braveheart”…Big Dunc said to me ” Jimmy…..as you know my wife is from Blackburn in England…..we’ll I nearly choked her to death that night in the cinema when I saw the way the feckin English treated us Scots in that film” !

I couldn’t stop laughing when he told me that wee story some time afterwards.

He was a good drinking buddy for a while, and on the night I first met him I was sitting alone near the far end of the bar in Bairds having just finished work that day. It was pretty quiet, and he walked in and appeared to know the barman..so he ordered a pint for himself.

I had spotted him and recognised hi right away, but I chose to mind my own business, and I didn’t even acknowledge him… when about 10 minutes later a bottle of beer suddenly appeared in front of me.

Big Dunc had bought a 2nd pint…and told the barman to give me a drink also…that’s how we got chatting…all thru the Big mans kindness in buying a drink for a complete stranger….from that night we became good pals as I said.

  9. Big Jimmy @ 11.29

Thanks for your reply. I did say on the blog at about 5.30 last evening that I could understand why Brendan chose the team he did but that on this occasion he was wrong. I also said on Wednesday or Thursday that other than perhaps starting with Sinclair I would go with the same team we had out at Pittodrie. I am big enough to admit that if the Killie shot which hit the post had rebounded to a hooped shirt and we’d won 1-0 that I would have been wrong! Thin line and all that.

As for Tom Wednesday there was his best show since the bad injury last December versus Dundee and not sure if he has lost some of the pre-injury verve he had aroumd 10-12 months ago. Nothing to do with petted lips just wonder if he is physically right. ( says Olympic level of fitness me! )

    ………………..

Cheers mate thx for your response.

Just to avoid ANY misunderstanding…I wasn’t the poster on here this morn typing about ANY Celtic player having a “Petted Lip”…that was someone else.

    HH

  11. In my very Humble opinion…this guy Brendan Rodgers appears to be making a rather “good fist” of his job at Celtic Park….can’t we ALL just allow him to pick the team ( as he know’s BETTER than ANYONE of us on here or in the stands about team selection etc)…and just let the man get on with it ?

Is that too much for some to take on board ?

Does ANYONE on here have an INSIGHT each and every day to how the Bhoys train and work in Lennoxtown each and every day…..an INSIGHT that is BETTER than Brendans and his excellent staff ?

    NO….Didn’t think so !

FFS…Let the man get on with it with our FULL support…even IF he ever admits to getting 1 or 2 things wrong now and again ?

The 58-year-old former Belgium keeper is a highly-rated coach in his homeland and now wants to be Rangers’ next boss.

    ……………

this was taken from Daily Rectum today lunchtime for tomorrows press.

Apparently his agent has confirmed that he and his client ” Have had nice talks with Ranjurs”.

  19. Happy birthday to Starry Plough, and the ‘mystery poster’ who isn’t celebrating a birthday today. I know how you feel, buddy…..just another day, and not really a big deal for me either. If you do celebrate birthdays, fine, why not. Usually any reason to celebrate should be grabbed with both hands. Life can be tough somtimes, and often too short, so go for it ;-)

On another topic, a sincere apology to LIONSROAR67, who i met yesterday and mis-identified as another poster. Very embarrassing, and i can promise that’ll never happen again. You deserve better, if you’ll pardon the overused expression.

Difficult to keep track of names and faces sometimes, especially when you meet so many new ones at the same time.

Won’t ever be a problem with the lovely Dena who I met for the first time yesterday. A smashing, endearing lady, and a real pleasure to be in your company. I hope your wee one overcomes the insurance problem and is able to enjoy her honeymoon as planned.

  20. Who is this Belgian PEPE Le PEW or whatever his name is ?

I read that he’s a former goalie….I can’t remember too many former goalkeepers going on to become successful managers anywhere….then again I could stand corrected ?

the only two goalies that ever got anywhere outside of football that I remember was Pope John Paul “II”…..and Julio feckin Inglegies ……and the latter was crap at his day job.?

BIG JIMMY-if we did that what would we talk shite about then:-))))

    …………………….

We can post about who played well….or God forbid….who didnae /

I just hate this “utter speculation” that some Celtic players aren’t fit enough…or are weighted down with Phantom “Petted Lips” etc etc….My point is that I TRUST Brendan to get MOST things right, as he works with the Bhoys each and every day, and again until such times that Brendan ADMITS to getting team selection wrong etc…let’s give him the benefit of the doubt in so much as that any one player can play well one day…and Brendan picks him for the next match ……but that same player doesn’t quite perform to that same level in that next match…then unless Brendan FAILS to spot a player in that instance…having a not so good game and does nothing about it…then until such times lets ALL have a bit of faith in the Boss /

  23. Marrakesh Express on

I sat next to three Zagreb supporters yesterday. They spoke highly of Celtic’s reputation in Croatia and reminded me that 2017 was also the 50th anniversary of Dinamo Zagreb’s greatest season. They beat Leeds over two legs in the Fairs cup final (Leeds knocking out Kilmarnock in the semis).

The guys were looking forward to the 67th minute light show but it wasn’t quite as good as usual.

Did he as a former goalie save more balls …than Bulls ?

  25. A new level of pishery attained on here overnight as Brendan Rodgers was labelled ‘self-indulgent’.

A magnificently obtuse, inane and bewildering term to apply to a football manager working within strict budget and squad limitations. And manufacturing a 62-game domestic unbeaten run under those restrictions.

‘Self-indulgence’ is splashing 40 million quid on a Mutant Ninja Turtle who plays like a tortoise. And speaking of Clippety-Klopp, how’s he doing in Brendan’s old job, two years in, two hundred million spunked and twenty times our budget to play with?

Surely he’s pushing for the title? Surely he’s burning up Europe?

There’s only one word needing applied to Celtic yesterday and over the coming week – Perspective.

    Now, away indulge yerself.

  26. BIG JIMMY-it’s only opinions mate not to be taken to seriously.I differ from you in that I don’t trust BR to get it right all the time,I’m happy just to trust his judgement either way:-))

  27. Thanks TET and Happy Birthday WITs

    AULDHEID @ 12:00 PM,

Yes, as usual a post that helps elucidate and puts things in perspective.

That Lyric sums up an attitude that for me, is all too prevalent (although not the obvious Queen lyric when I think about Celtic..;)

Of course we should give a mention to our sevcovian brothers on another harrowing week… “Keep Yourself Alive”

    Anyways

You have highlighted the attributes of a solid and sustainable Strategy.

We can see that this Season we have had to deal with a number of issues that we have little control over.

Are we as good as last Season? Some supporters now ask…

Luckily long before that, someone at Celtic had already asked, can we achieve our main “goals” without our £40M+ rated striker:)

For Brendan it’s early days of his implementation but I believe we have been developing the strategy for some time.

For me it works, we are going to see more festín…

BTW: Been keeping abreast of your Res12 updates… keep up the great work!!

    Hail Hail

  28. FAIRHILL BHOY,
