  1. So BR loses direction and sends out a team that can only “Equal” a 100 year old record!

Get your act together Brendan, on stage Friday night punting your book?

Do want to be an author, a thespian or a fenian, it’s up to you.

Plenty of good manager about like Pedro C to name one or GREAT managers like Billy Davies. No more of this slacking.

P.S good luck Tuesday and Hail Hail

  2. Brendan son, Stevie Clarke wrote your tactical script for ye yesterday.

The clue is, don’t go on the pitch on Tuesday and, try to pretend to be something that your not, that’s whit huns dae, look how it ends up!!!

NFL knew that in the CL, Celtic are the wee team, we’ve been the wee team all our history on the European stage, NFL knew this, cut his cloth, won 4 group games.

So, Brendan, nae kamikaze, Scoattish pub team skelping tactics, it disnae work, that’s how Jose has won 4 European trophies. Cute.

I’ve never been in McChuills. If it’s noisy that is no good to me. I can’t follow conversations in noisy pubs these days. Too many plays of QUADROPHENIA at full volume when I was younger.

    ……………………………………….

In the last 6 months or so I have popped into McCuills and I haven’t stayed for more than 2 Beers….it’s very noisy ( Music and feckin Pool Table….and general pub noise)…..God knows whats like if a live band playing, as I haven’t witnessed that for many years.

I find it’s a bit pricey ( Nearly £4 for Guinness), especially when other pubs are under £3 for a Guinness…ESPECIALLY when I am not really enjoying that Beer cos of noise etc.

I realise that nearly £4 a pint maybe the “norm” for some who live outside Glasgow….and I also realise that I am probably too AULD for a pub like McCuills these days ( although I could give the staff a feckin lesson on good music to play) and I don’t just mean music from the 1960’s, 70’s etc…but music from the 2000’s also.

However, whatever music is on, for me it is much too loud for a conversation, and is that not the main reason why most of us are intending to meet up for on 11/11 ?

It is not for me to decide for others, but if we leave one pub for McCuills….and then intend heading somewhere cheaper and quieter….I may just miss out McCuills along the way ?

The BV is just as pricey imo…but at least you can hear yourself getting ripped off.

I’ll be playing it by ear….no Pun intended.

    HH

  4. For those slagging our great manager Brendan ….by all means go right ahead.

Whilst your at it…why not slag Kiernan Teirney, Tam Rogic and Moussa Dembele for NOT playing to the level that they played at v Aberdeen in midweek ?

Brendan may expected those Bhoys to play at the same level as midweek in yesterdays game…but they didn’t…so should we break up the team/squad just like Pedro did with the Ipox Paupers ?

    Maybe thats the answer ?

God Bless the History Makers, I know I will never witness this again.

Wee Hamish (border terrier) can’t get his head round the extra hour in bed.

    Disappointing result yesterday.

Once again thanks for the updates to all concerned.

    Hail! Hail!

  6. Morning all. In Dublin airport heading off to Malaga for a few days. I’ll be in John Lemon on Tuesday if any CQNrs are about.

Not many EPL fans in the Departures area.

MIT: Hope Derry and Liam’s MIL get through their illnesses.

  7. Morning all. I’m sure we were roundly applauded at half time yesterday. It will have been a much needed experience for the youngsters in the 2nd half. Celtic Park can be a tough environment. Men of the match .Eboule & Ajer. Scapegoats. Rogic & Sinclair . How dare they have a dip in form . New position required at paradise…… An experienced timelord with own transport (tardus) . Take the moaners and groaner’s back to the early nineties. Onwards & Upwards. 62 & counting. Roll on Tuesday. Aff oot . Be nice. HH

  9. PARK ROAD 67/DELANEYS DUNKY

Ive only ever passed through Stranraer but when we made it to Seville my wife and I stayed in Praya De Rocha in Portugal for the week and bussed up to Seville for the match. How ever in Portugal we met an elderly couple from Stranraer who were doing the same as us.

Jimmy and Sadie were fantastic company and had great stories to tell of their life in Stranraer. But the story of how they got to Seville was even better. As I said they were at least in their 60’s and Sadie was not in the best of health.

Jimmy being the caring husband and really concerned about her health decided that Seville was an occassion that Sadie couldn’t miss. So to get the money together for both of them to travel was not going to be easy. This man decided to get up with the tide every morning and collect wulks from the beach and sell them until he made enough for both of them to travel.

How many can say that they would put in such a shift for the 2 things they loved most in their life. But for Jimmy it was a labour of love.

So Stranraer can’t be all bad with people like Jimmy and Sadie living there.

God bless both of them and I hope they are both still around and enjoying Brendan’s labour of love.

    KEEP THE FAITH

  10. GREENINBINGLEYINOSLO @ 6:45 PM

“We have a load of hugely promising young players in the squad. We also have – thanks to our success – major fixture pile-ups.

The likes of Ajer, Eboue, N’tcham, Johnston, Aitchison, Ralston etc need proper game-time if they are to develop.

I am more than happy to take a 1-1 with the likes of Killie (who have got themselves a very good coach, IMO) to bring the youngsters on, and to rest some of the A-team in advance of the huge Bayern game in a few days time.

Surely we have to do this? We can’t lay out £20 million for a centre-back or £30 million for a middie.

People on here were bellyaching for years that our managers, from MON onwards, never gave youth a chance, even when our development squads were winning everything in sight.

Well, now we have Brendan, who has established a path from the youths to the first-team squad, and supplements that by buying in young talent from abroad.

If we can’t give these young players crucial first-team experience on a day like today, then when can we?

I am pretty sure that at least some of the names mentioned above, and others not mentioned, will be the A-team of our future, and if that happens it will be down to Brendan’s strategy of playing them in games like today’s.

In a couple of years, when N’tcham is running our midfield, the rock-like Ajer at the back is being linked with Arsenal, Barca and Man U, and Johnston’s just won his first cap, who’s going to remember a frustrating 1-1 draw with Killie on October 2017? (Specially if we beat Bayern!)

*pauses for breath. Reaches for wine*

You deserve your breather, that was an excellent post…

What, I believe, Brendan’s critics miss is the multifaceted way he deals with the Club, Squad, teams etc…

I saw a bit of the interview he did with Eamon Holmes the other day – will watch the rest later – anyway, he said when he was discussing taking the Celtic job they talked about The Club, their vision and it’s future…

That was Dermot, Peter and Brendan in Mr Desmond’s London home.

Think of that, the strength and breadth of knowledge and resources that these ghuys can bring to our Club.

A couple of Brendan’s qualities that are rarely talked about is his focus and bravery…

Let me give you an example: During the transfer window we had several areas in the squad that needed strengthening and some that needed improving.

Now it came to pass that due to lack of personnel and injuries we were short in two key positions, centre back and striker.

Now BR could have made it easy for himself and splashed £10M and got a couple of reasonable players for those positions.

That wasn’t the plan, Brendan was focused enough to know how important it was to implement the plan and brave enough to endure the potential failure and the resultant flack that would come his way.

We bought good young prospects that we hope will be moulded into top quality players.

Of course, to improve these players and our academy prospects these bhoys need experience. He always said he’d play them. He has been focused enough and brave enough to stick to that plan.

So we got through the UCL qualifiers and have gone through the domestic season unbeaten so far… we have achieved what we needed to achieve in Europe so far.

I’m sure the Killie home game was always earmarked as a game where we would get the up and coming players onto the park, to have a look at their progress and to give them experience, both in terms of game time and playing at Celtic Park.

Now Brendan would know all about Steve Clark, he would have noticed he put the final nail in Pedro’s coffin… BR saw what his first picks did to Aberdeen at Pittodrie…

But these young ghuys needed experience, the first team have a huge game on Tuesday (even if a result is a bonus) so he didn’t deviate, lesser men would, he was brave enough and focused enough to stick to the plan.

    When Celtic Supporters criticise the…

    Personnel

    Tactics

    Results

    Etc… etc

I’d wish they’d look at the experience of our first team players and age of the pospective first team players. We are building for the future in more ways than one…

We could have changed our tactics in Munich, got a slightly better result and looked more solid. We could have put a team out and played some tactics that would have blown Kilmarnock off the field. That wasn’t the most important thing in the medium and long term.

Brendan has a plan and he’s brave enough to stand by it… Qualities that are worth a bit of patience and understanding.

    Hail Hail

    I love stories like that.

    Thanks for sharing.

  12. Good morning all.

Was straight out after the game yesterday and haven’t read back at all but I thought that we were very good in the first half hour yesterday, carrying on from where we left off at Pittodrie. Patrick having to go off, and so switching young Johnston to the other side lessened our performance. But a great through ball and first touch from Griff gave us a very well deserved lead. 2nd half we just seemed to make some wrong decisions around their box. And thought we could maybe have done better for their equaliser. But didn’t leave disappointed. It was definitely the correct decision to change the team at home to a bottom six side with Tuesday in mind. Look what happened – Patrick’s now out. Could have easily happened to Broonie, Dedryk, etc.

    2 more sleeps ;-)

  13. For most of the first half, we passed the ball about at speed and dominated Killie like we have not dominated any other team this season . Second half, we were poor and Kilmarnock punished us for that. Injuries to Paddy and Olivier disrupted any intended changes which might have remedied/prevented the drop in composure. Killie deserved their draw and did not resort to hammer-throwing . We deserved to equal the record. A truly remarkable achievement.

PS The guy who sits behind me is a good old guy but very negative. When he arrived for the game, I told him that, in fairness, he should hand back his Best fans in the World Award. I haven`t read back on here but I am sure there will be few others who should decline the Award :-)

  14. 50 shades of green on

62 and counting (Celtic that is no me).

Anyone on here been to them all?????.

Thoughts about yesterday, positives —-run still going and i never took Celtic in last mhan standing.

Ajer looked decent, Kouassi’s pass to Griff was superb, and a few of our first choices got a wee rest before Tuesday.

Laughing at Shades Jnr all the way home for picking Celtic in LMS after telling him during the week to avoid them, one eye on Europe and all that.

    Negative points

Listening to shades jnr moan all the way home ( see above for reason) :-)

    Roll on Tuesday

the huns will be dooking for soor plooms

And we’ll be listening to champions league tunes……

  15. Thx PHILBHOY…

You are always the voice of stability and common sense on the blog, noted your reply to Auroraborealis after the match:))

Passions run high and after a perceived underperformance we do get some ridiculous criticisms… in a way I can understand it but hope these ghuys take a time out and reflect about what we are achieving here…

    Hail Hail

  16. CHAIRBHOY

    Thank you!

I am delighted, no ,overjoyed with our current situation!

Canny wait for our next match which happens to be against one of the best teams in the world and at Celtic Park………………………..and in the worlds best club tournament, The Champions League.

    What’s not to like!

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Never mind our issues from yesterday — just how bad is this site for adverts, pop ups, full screen wraps advertising seasonal nonsense from the Store.

    Very poor user experience.

Wonder how many people ration their visits because of all the hassle.

For the record the mobile site is even worse — pretty much unusable.

I thoght this was a labour of love not a cash cow.

Is the day job doing that badly?

  18. MADMITCH

There has been more posts on here about how to BLOCK the ads than there has been about poppies.

I am a bit of a luddite when it comes to modern technology, however, if I can solve the problem so can you.

  19. After Wednesday some of the chat was about the team making it to peak CFC.

My thoughts we had a lot of good stuff in the performance we had still some way to go.

Yesterday proved it — not sure if the team on the park has been over coached or it was under resourced — but we were poor on a number of levels.

    No leadership.

    No energy or drive.

    No confidence.

PR kept us going for 30 minutes.

Not at his peak but still very good — really worked their LHS.

MJ looked like a ball boy who had wandered onto the park.

Really disappointed at the support the team gave him — KT offered no angles, worked the ball away from him at times plus he came in too much.

Better all round when he moved to the right.

Not sure the story with TR — not starting on Tuesday.

But he was low energy rank rotten who offered little for 90 minutes.

Joking him in the petted lip club was LG.

His second half performance deserved him to be on the losing team.

Lazy, obtuse, disengaged — he was worse than that.

BR has a lot of work to do.

That performance does not put his efforts in a good light.

Starting to look a bit self indulgent.

  20. CB @ 8.58

    What are achieving here?

Anderlecht away was no better than BMG away.

The Sheep away was not as good as May.

Peak CFC was TFOD2.1 away in the spring.

    We are drifting.

  21. Good Morning All. May I first wish a Very Happy Birthday to my pal Starry Plough, a Faithful Through & Through Tim, who is not one of those who should hand back their ‘Best Fans in the World’ award.

I hate the sense of entitlement that has sprung up with some fans, however I do acknowledge that there is nothing wrong in criticizing a performance or a team selection. If all criticism was frowned on then it would be a very boring blog indeed,

However it should always be against the backdrop of what both Brendan & the present Group of players have achieved, immortality beckons against St, Johnstone, immortality is OK by me.

  22. Melbourne Mick on

Hello again all you young rebels.

The Killie game has certainly divided our support but i

was always a glass as soon as it’s nearly empty have another

one ready to sup, my take on all the changes in the team

was that Brendan has his eyes on the bigger picture, and i’m

sure if we get a result against one of the best teams in the

world, who’s going to give a feck about the Killie gemme?

Went down to the local pub today not our CSC, beautiful

still top of the diddy league?

” Yes, of course, is your team still trying to find 50 million to

buy our players, we can’t be that much of a diddy team?

c’mon Mick you know the EPL is massive.

His son plays for our unders 9’s

Well ask your bhoy, he asked my grandson how to get a

    hoops top.

Just to compound it i said ” have a look about you, how

many EPL tops do you see in this pub?

    None!

    Now how many Celtic tops?

    Three or four

What about the ghuy with the Lisbon Lions tattoo?

    O.k thats another one.

    Yes, sixteen months!

What will we be like in 16 months time?
