  1. I have never read Alex Ferguson’s auto biographies, but I wonder if he admits that picking Moyes as his successor was a mistake?

Moyes was an excellent manager at Everton, they were a good fit. He knew how to put a team on the park that top teams found hard to beat. That approach was his undoing at Old Trafford. Ferdinand said that under Ferguson they always focused on their own strengths, not those of the opposition. They had just won the league so they still had plenty of self-belief. All of a sudden, Moyes was spending more time talking about the threats of their opponents, the players who could hurt them rather than their own options to go out and win the game.

That is why he is not the right man for Celtic.

  2. Ps. Posted after every game this season regarding James Forrest input

Today another mr invisible. No 15 of the season As a team. Can’t afford to have a player who more times than not is invisible

  3. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

    Today was about two things.

The pre-match ceremonies and the post match three points.

    Both objectives completed.

My fear was that the occasion would overshadow the performance and that, I believe, is what happened.

We have seen it before on less poignant occasions, like flag days, etc., but the emotion today was powerful and tangible.

I think it explained the amount of explicable slack and misplaced passes.

However, objectives achieved and analysis and prognosis are for another day.

    Well done ,Celtic.

  4. Neil Lennon was a great Celt as player and manager, but i’m afraid his “ let’s not lose this” attitude rather than ”let’s win this” is producing turgid, flat, uninspired performances. lacking in guile, passion and tempo.

He also has an obvious aversion to our loan players, something that might not be lost of any team thinking of loaning out players to us if NL is in charge.

And why no subs until 79th minute when it obviously wasn’t working and why only 2 when the actual bench itself would have contributed more than Sinclair !

The goal was a statistically magical landmark, but let’s not kid ourselves, it came from yet another poor corner initially and the 3 points are just papering over the cracks of a team that desperately needs a break and an overhaul in both personnel and style.

Today’s line up wouldn’t have been out of place 2 or 3 seasons ago – we need to go forward not back – sorry Neil.

  5. “They are human beings, and they can’t always play scintillating football. Right now, we are grinding. I get that. But we are grinding in the right way.”

    Neil Francis Lennon CSC

  6. Clearly none of these players should make themselves available for international duty at season’s end , get a rest and then prepare for next year, watch how many do the opposite.

Yes – we have all seen your posts.

If it is not bile about Pl then it about James Forrest.

James has not been at his best the last few games but is POTY by a distance in my book.

Maybe you should get out more – your constant vindictiveness is wearing!

Thankfully you are many thousand of miles away!

At the risk of being arrogant and complacent I’d like to think that domestic dominance should be assured for a few seasons yet (barring the Board pulling defeat from the jaws of victory with a Ronnie Deila type appointment).

So it’s European competition we should be focussing on.

In which case I’d be happy to be going back to the standard pre BR/RD tenures (which hovered somewhere between embarrassment and humiliation).

  9. Terryk.

    Nothing vindictive

James has been at Celtic Park for nearly 10 years

Only became a regular when paddy Roberts was injured

Not saying paddy was world class. But he rarely disappeared

Only in the headline. The match report (Tom English) is more precise.

‘The winner came after 67 minutes – spooky enough – and 16 seconds through a header from a centre-half wearing the number five that McNeill once wore. Spookier still.’

  14. So, Steve Clarke whinging about non penalty for the nudge by brown.

Strangely he didn’t mention Tom Rogic getting wiped out by two players after he laid the ball off (just out of Eddies reach) just outside the 6 yard box.

  15. The big cup was won in 1967, which was the 1,968th year. So whichever rule you choose for your numbering system, the goal minute was equivalent to the year.

No they aren’t, they are bittterly twisted.

Goals are normally reported as having been scored with however many minutes are on the clock, and never seconds.

A mere detail in a pathetic attempt to deliberately deflect from a remarkable coincidence IMHO CSC

  19. Great tribute, great occasion — but horrible football and a terrible match.

Football to stun pigs with — we are shocking at the moment and we need leadership and direction.

Won the game carrying two empty jerseys and two stiffs.

With 30% possession they tore us apart in the first half with the two best chances.

Plus a cheapshot shove from SB that was a honest mistake waiting to happen.

Club is at a crossroads and all that seems to be on offer is some salt ‘n sauce cheekiness and DM as our new manager. Maybe 15 years ago but surely not now — DD really knows nothing about football.

  20. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

NFL has done a fantastic job since coming in, it could have gone very

badly for us when BR left for Leicester.

  21. another struggle but the 3 points might lift the team, 2 big away games coming up a week between each game has got to help. Must ask why Burke is not getting a game his pace will be handy in the next 2 games and he is stronger defensively than Sinclair.

    Any word on KT?

  22. you could not make that up the no5 scores in the 67th minute only at celtic, but we have work to do, ffs lets get a striker who can head the ball, bobby lennox was there today, he would have scored a hattrick and hes in his 70s now ?.

  23. Thank You Celtic.

    Praise the Lord.

A header by the Celtic Number 5, 67 minutes in.

    Truly Magical.

  24. James is always heavily marked, and yes he was kept out of game today but overall he is an absolutely brilliant player and a huge asset to the Club.

Jozo has really come good at a crucial time of season, he was outstanding today and himself and Ajer have formed a really solid partnership.

Since the start of March we have played 9 games, and whilst we have not been at our best the only goal we conceded was against the Hun and as much as it pains me to say it, that was a quality goal that the best of teams could concede.

James Forrest has been ‘mercurial” this season – thnk that’s the word.

MOTM match performances followed by schoolboy type games where he is..well…invisible.

When your opposition has sussed where your main threats come from they do what they did today.

James had a schoolboy day today.

All season long we have seen apparent problems in areas of the pitch that are traced back to probblems in other areas.

EG Defence, particularly central defence was howled at yet how much more settled has it become when we changed the goalkeeper to one who was more commanding and who was very comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Or Goal shy Edouard became his old self again when the midfield included Christie.

James is a current starter for Scotland & Celtic, so he got the triple banked marking treatment today. He was also not served well by a listless Rogic who seemed to make a point of choosing wrong options every time.

I sometimes think that James suffers due to our very high expectations which are based on his exceptional performances. He’s a confidence player & BR understood this. I’m not so sure that NFL does.

Thing that struck me most about our forward play was the lack of movement, something that only happened when Rogic & Forrest went off. Till then neither Forrest nor Sinclair made a contribution. I couldn’t understand why NFL left Sinclair, Forrest & Edouard in their alotted psoitions with no switching or interchanging. Their defence had an easy day.

James was neutralized by Killie & that was clear from the start, but his manager & colleagues didn’t capitalize on the space that left them, nor did the manager switch James around to create space.

    FOOL TIME WHISTLE

True James didn’t have one of his better games today , but the manager took the wrong winger off IMO as absolutely nothing worked for Sinclair today. I was also mystified by James sticking to the right as the switch often works

  28. James Forrest is my p.o.t.y.

But yet, he is fundamentally a winger. And reality is no team can rely on a winger to turn it on every game week after week.

Without going into it today in any depth. Neil Lennon is a No from me.

If K.T is a non starter, i’d Like to see Hayes at left back. And either Weah or Burke ahead of him in the wide left role.

  29. Ladies and Gents of of the Celtic fraternity.

Yes we won today . 3 points . It’s been a great day. Early bevy with a compulsory roll .

However. That was a brutal watch. We will not fill our stadium with that sort of performance.

Even ST holders may not turn up.

Had Tom Rogic’s shooting boots been included in his luggage from Australia, we would have had a more comfortable afternoon.

  31. On the way back to Forres after the game. I would have not missed that for anything. I was there for the wreath laying and saw our Magical Club write another fantasy chapter- No 5 scoring the winner in the 67th minute.

As regards the football it was totally pants and Lenny is definitely not the man for the job. He may deliver the treble treble but it will be a squeaky bum delivery.

BTW a big thank you to the snake ? for leaving when he did, as Derek and Clive would say “you ***t”

  33. Would also like to sing the praises of Jozo Simounovic.

Probably Neil Lennon’s best manoeuvre since stepping in to the hot seat.

Jozo has his doubters, that is pretty evident.

But I have been one of the significant few that have continually backed the big fella.

Broken knee cap 2 years ago. He hasn’t had things all his own way.

Yet since the Valencia game away from home, he’s looked 100% match fit. And has been top class this last month or so
